This is pretty much why I support Raab (Or at an outside shot, Stewart.) for Tory leader.

Most tory governments are a shitshow across the board and having any redeeming qualities at all is a novelty.

I think we're going to see a No deal brexit, followed by a Johnson landslide. At that point Corbyn will resign and we'll have a debate over the new path to take.

Labour and the Liberals will spend more time fighting eachother than Johnson for a long while, until his supporters realize he is basically a neoliberal type (Albeit, apparently genuinely more liberal in social terms) and you see a right wing revolt.

Only good thing to come out of that imo would be us leaving and joining the republic.

I wouldn't. Trump would probably see it as a down-payment on a private bolthole for himself.

Results of the first ballot will be in at roughly 13:00. Everyone with fewer than 17 votes will be out. Keep an eye out for candidates with fewer votes than open nominations.

Harper, Leadsom and McVey are out.

Rory Stewart and Matt Hancock narrowly avoid being eliminated.

Boris Johnson way ahead at over 100, 2nd place Hunt at 43.

Very disappointing for Raab - only 23.

Hancock and Javid are likely to probably leave the race following the very disappointing results for them.

Raab might leave the race too.

I think Gove will stay, despite Boris having over 2.5x his votes. Rory will probably stay just to see what happens. Boris obviously clear ahead, and Hunt is the metropolitan lib candidate.

No, President did instead.

The same people now weren't complaining complaining then are now those now very same who claim principal. If we are allowed to voice our very vocal opinions on the American president, I don't see why they can't do the same—it is the consequence of multilateral diplomacy after all.

I didn't like it then and I don't like it now, but don't pretend for a moment its a development as a result of Brexit.

Big shame that Raab is basically eliminated, I wanted him to take leadership.

I guess the only option left now is Boris.

Boris Johnson in the lead. It seems my recently adoption of a policy of "expect nothing, but prepare for the stupidest possible outcome" when it comes to elections was a sensible decision.

Lir.
Johnson is the compromise candidate. Let that sink in.

He's a social liberal, vaguely distrustful of government authoritarianism and doesn't like the surveillance state, does barmy schemes if they seem like a laugh (thus opening the door to environmentalism through shit like boris bikes), ardently pro-brexit, and so on.

You know. Terry Pratchett dedicated his later years to advocating for the legalization of assisted suicide in the UK. Now, of course he was talking about assisted suicide for individual human beings, but I'm sure he'd appreciate it if we expanded that to political parties. It's clear that the Tory party wants to kill itself.

You missed a golden opportunity to do a Zizek impression in that "and so on".
