The more important takeaway from that article is this:
Speaking on Spanish television, Rivera proposed that both Ciudadanos and the rightwing Popular Party jointly abstain during any investiture vote.

In exchange, he said, Sanchez must agree not to pardon 12 Catalan separatist leaders who led a failed 2017 bid for independence, triggering Spain's worst political crisis in decades.

Spain's Supreme Court is to rule on the case next month.

Rivera also asked Sanchez not to hike taxes.

However, Riviera had another condition, which was to tell Sanchez to break a deal with Basque nationalists in Navarre (source). this looks like both C’s and the PP trying to duck responsibility for a potential snap election

Well, there was no way that Sanchez would get a government without them, even if he could get Iglesias to see reason.

Seriously? Isn’t the cease fire enough? At least Basque nationalists haven’t caused any problems for a while, last I heard. Let things stand as they are. Spain needs a government.

The king declined to propose any candidate ahead of the September 23rd deadline, an election on November 10th is all but certain.

Among the national parties, no.

Now the election has more or less officially been scheduled, stand by for an updated OP.

Oh how wrong I was just months ago. PSOE will most likely have the most seats but PP is catching up with Podemos, C's and Vox suffering from losses.

I'm hoping either Unidos Podemos or PSOE do well.

I like how nobody in the poll likes PP and instead goes for Vox directly. xD

Yes, people who know nothing about Spanish politics supporting the worst party in the country. Marvelous.

Supposedly Vox is quite the party to go with currently. In some corners they say so.

But probably people who aren't in Spain either.

Vox is as much as the party to go with as phrenology is a science.

Well, as far as I know, there aren’t 64 Spaniards on this site, so…

But aren't they somehow based? /pol/ told me so.

Eitherway, I like how the PP is instant discarded in-and-between.

Insert generic comment about radicalization.

In some corners, meaning those who secretly keep the old portraits of Franco hidden away in the hope they can bring them back out...remember, there have been Vox leaders who've gotten in trouble for supporting Neo-Falangist groups.

There are a lot of people who did have a better life under Franco. Even though he was a butcher. There are people back home who still praise him.

Same could be said of many dictators of the mid-range Rightist Condor persuasion in all honesty, but few of them are still willing to see praising them as socially acceptable, thankfully.

Indeed, but it happens. I’ve heard a few Romanians reminisce with nostalgia about Ceausescu.

Like they felt better? Given that economic conditions were somewhat more poorer then. Or is it more nostalgia?

Economically, some people were better off. Particularly those who found jobs in the Francoist regime. There’s some nostalgia involved too.

I find it quite unfortunate. Much good has come of conservatism, but I generally do not trust populist rabble-rousers. Well, good thing NSG is not responsible for electing the Spanish parliament.

The PP is the party of ruthless corruption and crony capitalism in conservative attires.
