It seems to me like maybe you simply didn't understand what he was saying. I believe he was referring to the bullies and not the girl. In fact, it's obvious that's what he meant. You'd need to have read the whole thing, of course, but it's obvious. Funny enough, this is the problem with not actually reading all of what someone said. That's not great. She was too young to deal with any of that. It does seem to be normal in high school, though elementary school is too early.

Saw it starting in middle school.. so around 6th to 7th grade.. age range average of 10/11 (though there was a 16 year old in 7th with me. Alexander Cambell "Whop" and no he wasnt Italian.. no worries about personsl info.. he was shot and killed in South Carolina 20 years ago)

if you're dealing with people who will run over you .. you've got to be willing to fight. They will not respect you otherwise. Running to school authorities when you could have thwarted it in the beginning will only make it worse because they will catch you alone at some point. It is better to handle it and stop it before it escalates into your getting beaten to death by 3 or 4 of them.

I'm ofcourse speaking of kids 12 and up in general.. but honestly it would be ideal for any age to physically defend themselves..

nothing of any use will happen. They're too young and it was psychological harrassment.. and considering that they were this way means they're in a rough environment outside school .. and if authorities attempt to do anything to those kids , they're going to have some pushback from their families.

there might be some school counseling or something.. and I wouldn't put it passed their parents to even protest that.

It usually costs quite a bit of money to get martial arts training for anyone and the kids won't benefit unless they put in the effort to do all the exercises and katas, etc. You'll want to know if whatever they're doing isn't going to waste. Some martial arts are objectively more effective than others. If an art is genuine, chances are it has lots of sparring. In most situations, high kicks are no good at close range in that it takes 1 or more seconds to deploy.

What martial arts you can learn, is often determined by where you live. It'll only be as good as whoever the teacher is and what the training actually entails.

One Chinese saying is that the hands of a scholar will be different from the hands of a warrior. Hand conditioning, while it will result in fists that can throw a punch or take damage, won't have as much precision as a normal untrained hand. It is a trade off. Some dexterity is permanently sacrificed for gains in another area.
