The West won the world not by the superiority of its ideas or values or religion … but rather by its superiority in applying organized violence. Westerners often forget this fact; non-Westerners never do.

Yes, but I keep getting "rejected this", "calling the police that".

And in Prince of Egypt's defense, there was no way they were going to salvage that, given the narrative.

If I remember correctly, the plan for Frollo was to genuinely make him truly evil and hated just by making him a shitty, greedy, selfish, horrible person.

Disney was tired of the light, playful, beloved villains so they went hardcore on Frollo, things got too dark and they went back to their normal ways.

Lust, racism, and power made him more realistic than most Disney villains. Perhaps they thought it went too far, so they never really made an evil character quite so believable.

Mother Gothel is very, very frightening to be honest. Not on Frollo's level, but the high level of emotional abuse and manipulation of Tangled was very, very real.

And while it came before, Gaston is also quite the shit.

That said, Disney's was a fine adaption of the Hunchback of Notre D'âme. Would have been a lot more popular had it come out today with its themes of social justice and decrying of racial discrimination and hatred of people on a superficial level.

Said themes would also lead to the alt-rightists demanding it be boycotted and some stuff about how the movie was totally written to be 100% anti-Trump rather than being an adaptation of an existing story.
