Well, I suppose it is arguable that Puritans supported the rise of capitalism. And I certainly do not agree with the horrible things some Puritans did during the English Civil War. But the Jacobins certainly were not Christians.

“Society without order.” You...you need to read more. Preferably about the aims of the left. Since you know, they’re not homogeneous.
The right wanted to preserve the monarchy as long as it did what the assembly wanted. That's jsut a less extreme version of the left - get rid ofthe monarchy.

I have read a lot more than you on a lot more topics. This is likely why you are losing this debate.

I believe I explained in full why I don’t consider myself a feminist. I believe even the most rabid anti-feminists who weren’t misogynistic would agree that men and women should be legally equal. Now, if you want to throw this wonderful thing called nuance out the window, that’s fine. You can shoot yourself in the foot as long as you want, as many times as you want.

Spend extended periods of time with a lot of women and erase feminism from your brain and you can see it for yourself too.

But, you don't seem smart enough to realise the difference between an empiric assertion and a description. So if you can't do the latter, I doubt you can do the former.

Something you don't seem to grasp is that attacking other posters on a personal basis here is against the rules. Those rules are posted at the top of this forum and at the top of Moderation. Review them while you're enjoying your *** three-day ban for flaming. ***

The primary problem with Rome is that it didn't persecute the Christians nearly hard enough.

Why do you hold Ancient Rome on such a pedestal? You complain about hypocrisy, but cannot seem to see that plank in your eye.

Ancient Rome was clearly better than Imperial Rome. The move away from the ordinary Republican model doomed it.

People couldn't rely on Caesar's Legions to protect them anymore so they had to seek protection in the form of local rulers. That was the reason feudalism came about in Europe. And it worked for a while and did an even better job of protecting Europe from outside invasion than Rome did.

It didn't tho

The history of Europe after the fall of Rome is 90% outside invasions taking over and often butchering the aristocracy of the invaded region.

Feudalism survived because it was an effective way for elites to maintain power over the masses.

True. I should have been more specific. In certain areas it was an effective mechanism of defense. Not so in others.

Didn't protect Britain or Spain or the Balkans and Greece that well.

The pinnacle of civilization is probably around the year 1996 or 2000, before everything went full blown unfettered capitalism and progressive nonsense, before the endless wars and the terrorism shit.

There is an out of control trolley speeding towards Jeremy Bentham, who is tied to the track. You can pull the lever to cause the trolley to switch tracks, but on the other track is Immanuel Kant. Bentham is clutching the only copy in the universe of The Critique of Pure Reason. Kant is clutching the only copy in the universe of The Principles of Moral Legislation. Both men are shouting at you that they have recently started to reconsider their ethical stances.
