With Kennedy gone, Democrats MUST take back the Senate. They better fight hard and dirty and not fuck up. This opens the door for Trump to install an anti-woman and anti-gay corporate theocrat Just itching to get rid everything progressive that was made in the past century.

I don't think the Democrats will take back the Senate.
However, I'd say they have a chance of winning the House.

However, I'd say they have a chance of winning the House.

Then it's worthless as Trump will still get his fascist SCOTUS.

That means Trump'll likely get to pick a successor for Anthony Kennedy. I'm inclined to point out that Kennedy was himself appointed by a Republican president, namely Ronald Reagan. Trump is to a significant degree more liberal on social issues than Reagan was. People really shouldn't be freaking out as much as they are.

I'm going to summon OEC if this continues.

Not a fascist, but far-right. In short a Republican. One again can be understanding of why people might be afraid.

Uhhhh the Republican Party isn’t fascists. Maybe Trump is a terrible person, but that doesn’t make him a fascist. Or even far-right. Trump is not even the most right-wing person in his own party.

The Republican Party is far-right. It is to the right of the FN (now RN) in France, the FPO in Austria, the AfD in Germany, so and so forth. Its social (as in workers' rights) and economic policies are unmatched in how deranged they are, not even by the Tories.

But a fascist party it is not, nor did I claim so.

Indeed. It'll decide whether Democrats gain a seat or we see no change at all, which hasn't happened since 1998.

The guy running for them (can't remember his name atm) was pretty popular from what I know and he has some SERIOUSLY deep pockets. Unless the Dems throw all their resources at the state they're going to be outspent.

I actually have to agree with Flutters to an extent here. This does indeed open the door for Trump to put someone on who's more reliably right, even CNN's Jeffrey Toobin said abortion will be illegal in 20 states inside two years with no swing justices.

Rick Scott? Yeah, he is quite a popular governor, and I think that will help him out come November, but we still have the primaries to go through.

No idea. For me, the most confusing thing about Florida is the Constitutional Commission and the odd hodge-podge of amendments they put up for November.
