The reason people don't want a woman in the role is because it flips the entire show around, changes the doctor that everyone knows. Now I think its to keep up with PC, and I don't care for it. Maybe I'm wrong, maybe they're not being PC. but it certainly seems like they are.

Yes. Ratings last season were the lowest they've ever been. The last Christmas Special, which usually sees more viewers than its accompanying series, had viewing figures that would have been considered average for any episode in earlier series. The rest of the series was even lower, with UK viewing figures not even reaching 5m for some episodes.

I don't agree with the Horror Channel's assertion that ratings will tank with Whittaker (in fact, I expect they'll pick up for a little while at least), but making snarky remarks about facts you haven't bothered to investigate and overusing your favourite smiley doesn't make you look good.

I stopped watching it because I really, really, REALLY did not like Peter Capaldi. Looking forward to seeing a new Doctor.

It doesn't work the other way round either. The Upper Hand was pretty dreadful (Who's The Boss) and the less said about The Brighton Belles the better.

I've also only seen a few episodes, but the American "The Office" was..... not good. At least it wasn't what the original was.
