...Why? You're simply switching the gender of the character. What would be so genius about a female Rhett Butler, or a male Scarlett? Scarlett will continue to be Scarlett, Rhett will continue to be Rhett. I'm not saying it would be a bad thing, simply there's nothing 'genius' about simply switching the gender of the character. The 'genius' would be in switching the genders and managing to keep their dynamic from the original novel, which would admittedly make for an interesting story. I'd at least read it, considering I loved the original novel.
