Hey, I never said you were obligated to accept my claims at face value either. I wasn't the one implying these things were relevant by bringing them up.

The burden of proof needs to be flipped in this case as a counterbalance to those who stack the deck against genetic explanations. It's the only way to force the issue.

Why should we bear the burden of proof? You made a claim--that bullying is genetic--now you bear the burden of proving it.

It's almost as if "not knowing what someone's doing here" doesn't immediately prove the first explanation that comes to mind.

I went to a campus where the campus clubs seemed reasonable enough. But for many campuses, the same could not be said. And post-college, activism can be a liability to employability; at least until you've got your foot in the door.

Ideally, we should fix both problems. In the meantime, the Internet will have to do.

There was an experiment/exercise done awhile back on blue eyed and brown eyed students. While i won't go into the details of this experiment it basically divided a class of students into a 'superior' blue eyed group and an 'inferior' brown eyed group. This feeling of superiority actually caused the blue eyed kids to do better than the brown eyed kids and the brown eyed kids were bullied and harassed by the blue eyed kids. The next day the teacher switched the experiment around with the brown eyes 'superior' and the blue eyes 'inferior' and the brown eyed kids beat down on the blue eyed kids similarly.

The experiment's purpose wasn't about bullying specifically but rather racism. Still i find it applies here somewhat, so my argument towards 'Should bullies be sterilized' is that it shouldn't. Bullying is indeed a learned behavior affected by environmental factors only found in complex human society. You cannot breed it out of humanity as we aren't dogs and these aren't genetic factors. Rather i think experiments like this one (below) would be a beneficial way to combat bullying and build a more connected and healthy society.

No, as a person who has had many issues with bullying when I was younger, this is an infringement on civil rights. Not to mention, bullying is not genetic either. It is a very vague and broad term, and makes the people endorsing this kind of thing hypocrites. Many would consider this an example of bullying.

In fact, said issues were major enough to affect me to the point that if I went into detail people would interpret it as me looking for sympathy points.

I, personally, found it much easier to manipulate them into getting expelled, suspended, or, if they committed criminal acts outside of school, get them in a situation where they get caught by the police. Though, that may or may not give an example of how they affected my mental state.

At least easier compared to chemically or physically castrating them, doing a vasectomy, or a tubal sterilization.

Why aren't we doing this on a larger, more lawful scale, rather than leaving individuals who take the matter into their own hands (or in this case, their own feet) to risk prosecution? Why do we keep relying on ineffective anti-bullying strategies that fight the uphill battle against bullies' very nature when we could be literally cutting off bullying at the source?

For the very obvious reason that under the US Constitution, it is cruel and unusual punishment, and that under the Universal Declaration of Human Rights it is a violation of both Article 5 and Article 16.
