Might have missed it, but, if I'm interpreting this correctly, divorces involving Filipinos in foreign courts may now be recognized in the country.

Bongbong, properly known as Ferdinand Romualdez Marcos, Junior, is the son of the notorious dictator and kleptocrat Ferdinand Emmanuel Edralin Marcos, Senior. The egregious degree of Marcos Senior’s falsities, ranging from his war record to his presidency—a presidency that spanned 2 decades and was best known as a Conjugal Dictatorship, where dissent could and would cost people their lives or those of their loved ones—was such that when he was 86’d in 1986, his name became a byword for autocracy, mismanagement, and corruption.

is that all? Nobody likes him because his dad was a dictator? I know it seems pretty bad but what are his actual policies? Or are they the same as his dad's?

He literally has no policies other than saying 'unity' ad nauseam. He also just denied that the inflation rate is as high as if is, stating that "I don't believe we're that high."

In addition to that, Bong Bong has NEVER expressed remorse for what his family did (and to be fair, he was complicit in it as well), and instead dodges the topic every single time.

His policies are the continuation of the neoliberal order established following the ousting of his father, which will do nothing to slow the collapse of Philippine society through the widening of the wealth gap, the continued accumulation of wealth by the ultra rich, the continued spread of rampant corruption through basically every part of the government, the continued deterioration of public infrastructure or its privatization for the profit of the aforementioned ultra rich, the continuation of the so-called wars against drugs (poor people) and communists (literally any government critic), etc. etc. etc. His economic team is literally filled with Aquino appointees. He's not here to rock the boat, but he isn't going to plug any of its holes.

Don't forget the acceleration of education decline. Don't get me wrong, this was a problem arguably set in place even before EDSA I and was not addressed by K-to-12 (since K-to-12 just canalized education towards services and medium-low-skill trades), but Junior's exploitation of social media and the pushing of "alternative media" and influencers as legitimate replacements (they aren't "just" alternatives) for factual history and mainstream (even if faulty) media is only going to make Filipinos dumber, more gullible, and overall un-usable as anything other than domestic help, prostitutes, and "entertainment".

Excellent people like those guys from UP Diliman who are developing satellites or other achievers will be so in spite of Philippine Education, not because of it. And sadly, it does not seem that Junior will do anything to really mend it.

an important thing to note is he wasn't a child when his dad was ousted from office, he was an adult who participated and benefited from the periods widespread graft. So when he looks back on those times as the good ol' days, it ain't a good look.
As for policy, his campaign was notorious for being very light on it, whereas other candidates at least pretend they care about having a platform. By the way he campaign, his implicit platform is a return to said good ol' days, with no elaboration of how or whether or not that's even a good thing.

given how little coverage was given immediately and months after the release of the leak (all i've found is a single -- one -- article in the philippine star discussing the fallout, but did not mention the marcoses at all), you'd certainly think that's the case

What are your thoughts on the other English broadsheets?

As I mentioned previously, I'm more of a Philippine Star and Phil. Daily Inquirer reader. Occasional reader. I also like to check out the Phil. Star's editor-in-chief's MWF column.

Copies of the Manila Times seem to be found more easily in convenience stores in Manila (e.g. in Intramuros) than those in other cities I've been to.

Low-key I wish that a Filipino-language or a bilingual English-Filipino broadsheet would be published. That would certainly help refine one's vocabulary from both languages.

to my knowledge, a broadsheet once tried to taglish its way to peoples' pockets

tried

can't even recall the year it got its newsprint out, but it didn't last more than a few print runs
