Man, I am legitimately ashamed to be American for only the second time in my life.

The first was when we had elected representatives stand up on the floor of the US Congress and argue that torture and indefinite detention were patriotic. But then at least we had the flimsy excuse of the shock of 9/11 clouding our better judgment.

What is the excuse for Trump? There was no economic collapse, no war, no mass terrorist attack..just "Oh, the economy has been kind of mediocre for a few years...quick lets rally behind this loudmouth wannabe strongman with no actual policies but who promises he's going to punish the women and brown people and foreigners and people with the wrong religion who are clearly to blame for all of our problems!"

My only vague hope is that this will be a wake up call to Democrats and Liberals, that 'accelerationism' isn't a thing, that protest voting or staying home because our candidate isn't pure enough or exciting enough doesn't bring about socialist utopia or a great liberal wave, it brings about President Donald Trump and total Republican domination of the federal government.
