Uefa have dismissed their own case against Mamadou Sakho's failed drugs test, which means the defender is free to resume playing without further sanction.

It's incredible this has happened. He's missed a European final and a major championships because Uefa fucked up by putting a non-performance-enhancing substance on their banned list.

UEFA appears to be under pressure to clean up the sport, especially since the ongoing issue with doping is with … athletics.

Rather missing the point though. An incident like this only hurts anti-doping, and doesn't help it.

Don't football teams play in the summer in the United States? I would hope so. Imagine playing in somewhere up north like the cold of Minneapolis or the rain of Seattle.

Yeah we do have our league running the March-October schedule, though instead of snow and rain you get the heat of Texas and California during the summer. They had to institute a water break in both halves as of last year if the temperature is above 80 degrees.

I see. I can imagine that the players would become quite exhausted.

I take it that's why sometimes American players get loaned to European teams? To stay fit over winter?

Liverpool got Sadio Mane from Southampton for £34 million as they seek their first league silverware for the first time since 1989–90. Liverpool last won the FA cup in the 2005–06 season, and it clear they are anxious now that it is over ten years since they won a major competition. I am not sure if the League Cup is a major contest?

Another thing to watch out for in this transfer window is the Brexit. If the pound falls further this week, then we may see a very weak transfer season as foreign talent becomes expensive. What do you think the impact will be on the EPL's future influence?

I hope this will force the clubs to finally utilizing more of the British talents instead of using too many foreigners and too few nationals.

Well, except if they want to get beaten up by Iceland again. :p

Sam Allardyce is to be named England manager. My father recently described him as a fairly mediocre high level manager who bounces from team to team fairly constantly. I'm not exactly a follower of his, but that's probably not a good thing to have floating above your head especially with the very high demands of English fans

Might get a team that plays with passion and pride rather than scared aimless sideways passes. I appreciate the FA having the vision to go against the orthodoxy that there's only one "correct" way to play.
