Sarcasm detectors are finicky and difficult to calibrate.

My suspicion was that it wasn't so much sarcasm as exaggeration to make a point, but again, I won't speak for Gauthier.

I consider that sort of exaggeration to be a form of sarcasm.
The Serene and Glorious Reich of Nazi Flower Power has existed for longer than Nazi Germany! Thank you to all the brave men and women of the Allied forces who made this possible!

Your test scores indicate that you are an open-minded ultra-conservative; this is the political profile one might associate with a police officer. It appears that you are accepting of religion, and have a balanced attitude towards humanity in general.

Your attitudes towards economics appear laissez-faire capitalist, and combined with your social attitudes this creates the picture of someone who would generally be described as a traditionalist.

To round out the picture you appear to be, political preference aside, a uncompromising radical centrist with a firmly established worldview.

What do you mean too late? McCulloch knew about it.

He chose to present witnesses he knew, or strongly suspected, were lying anyway, because remember he wanted the Grand Jury to be 'fair'.

But remember kids, any suggestions that our judicial system could be flawed or biased in any way is just an excuse people use to avoid talking about the black culture of crime and violence.

Well, that's wonderful. I'm not up on the legal stuffs, I know people can't be tried for the same stuff twice, but is there any way in which a grand jury can be invalidated for egregious fuckups and get a do-over? Because it's looking a lot like this thing is an egregious fuckup. I'm hoping that the DOJ investigation won't end up being an egregious fuckup, whatever conclusion it comes to, but egregious fuckuppery seems to be contagious where this case is concerned.

I believe that since the case never went to trial, double jeopardy wouldn't apply. However, I could be wrong, and will happily bow to those with greater legal knowledge than my own.

I am confident in saying that there is no double jeopardy.

and equally confident that the Missouri bar wont be investigating mcculloch for suborning perjury--putting a person on the stand who you know is going to lie is illegal.

Yeah, once I remembered the phrase from endless Law & Order marathons, I looked it up, and that's almost certainly what he did...and he'll almost certainly get away with it, too.

it is so illegal, unethical, corrupt, etc that it is chilling to know that there is no chance that he will have to pay for it. he'll probably end up as governor of Missouri for the way he handled this case.

Yes, well, it was all in the name of defending our boys in blue, and what D.A. is going to want to take him on for that? He'll be a poor man's Oliver North, doing what was necessary to save the police from those filthy commies niggers thugs.

Accusations of racism are great because they don't need to be steeped in reality.

Nor, it seems, does the testimony of witnesses.

It just seems the whole Grand Jury was trying to get him off, not caring if he was guilty or not

I don't know about the Grand Jury, but it's blatantly obvious that the prosecutor had an enormous conflict of interest in this case, and that he did everything that he could to keep the Grand Jury from indicting the officer for anything at all.

If true, then this guy is remarkably despicable and dishonest, using a perfectly positive sentiment when in the spotlight, then betraying it when nobody is looking.

Naturally, pro-cop activists will insist he's the Pope of the protest movements.
Crimes committed by Muslims will be a pan-Islamic plot and proof of Islam's inherent evil. On the other hand crimes committed by non-Muslims will merely be the acts of loners who do not represent their belief system at all.
The probability of one's participation in homosexual acts is directly proportional to one's public disdain and disgust for homosexuals.
If a political figure makes an accusation of wrongdoing without evidence, odds are probable that the accuser or an associate thereof has in fact committed the very same act, possibly to a worse degree.
Where is your God-Emperor now?
