If you lived in a small town, and you were LGBT, and literally everybody else hated you, and this town was located literally in the middle of a desert, no water or shelter anywhere outside the town limits for 50 miles, and you had no opportunity to get food, water, shelter, a job, or transportation to a place where you could get those things, the entire town is guilty of neglectful murder, in the same way that you'd be guilty of murder by locking somebody in a burning room.

The only logically consistent way to prevent this is to mandate that no business can discriminate.

I see your point, but New York isn't a desert. Plus, if they're in the desert, I doubt they would turn them away. If it's such a small town, turning away two customers could screw them out of profit for the day.

On the topic of business discrimination? Leniency is best policy, but toning down on the discrimination is highly preferable. Anti-discrimination laws are also somewhat preferable. Religious places? Free reign to both sides. Mutual dialogue over coercive lawsuits.

It has been standard practice in Europe for decades that you can't discriminate against people if you run a business. This originally referred to travellers (The caravan type, not tourists) here in Ireland but it holds up for other things too.
