Tot dat jaar was het Oost-Romeinsche Rijk zeker sterk, maar na die rampzalige kruistocht takelde het rijk dan toch af om in 1453 te eindigen. Daar heb ik wel erg gemengde gevoelens over - deels erg jammer en triest, dat zoo een rijk dat de westerse cultuur had geschapen, ten onder ging.
Deels is het ook wel goed, want daardoor konden de Ottomanen hun grotere vrijheid overbrengen en werden mensen minder onderdrukt - en sloot de sultan de Bosporusstraat af, waardoor men een and're weg naar Indië moest zoeken... en dat leidde uiteindelijk tot het ontdekken van de Nieuwe Wereld.

1204 en 1453 zijn één van de - zo niet - belangrijkste momenten in den wereldgeschiedenis, naar mijn mening. Dermate belangrijk door de enorme keten van gevolgen en gebeurtenissen die ze in gang zetten.

Maar toch, de Theodosiaanse Muren, de Haga Sophia, het stadium waar de Nika-rellen uitbraken, et cetera... dat zijn inderdaad bezienswaardige monumenten in Constantinopel, de stad. :)

Naar ik begrepen heb is Istanbul niets anders dan de verturkste naam van Constantinopel, dus beide werkt.

Ik denk dat ik het beste met de trein kan gaan omdat ik met het vliegtuig er ongeveer even lang over doe.
3 uur met de trein naar Schiphol en dan nog vliegen.
Tussen de 8 en 9 uur met de trein , de treinkaartjes kosten ongeveer 90 euro.

Als je echt goedkoop naar Berlijn wil kun je ook de bus nemen, maar die doet er over het algemeen erg lang over. :p

Hoewel ik vaak naar Duitsland ga ben ik nog nooit in Berlijn geweest, maar daar komt vast nog wel eens verandering in. Wat ik wel weet is dat het in juli erg druk en soms ook best warm kan zijn, dus hou daar rekening mee, vooral als je dingen gaat doen en bezoeken die populair zijn bij toeristen

Duitsland niet, want grote rivaal. Prima land, maar niet bij voetbal ;)
België niet, want stel je voor dat ze echt zouden winnen. Dan hebben ze net zoveel prijzen als ons. Je moet natuurlijk nog wel op ze neer kunnen blijven kijken ;)
