What do You think about Mods?

Speaking of moderatorship, how does one get that?

Mind you I don't want to become a mod I'm just curious.

Basically, if you don't get into trouble, if you're helpful, and if you don't actively seek it out, you have a shot.

And, of course, you're a good friend of the current mods.

But we'll keep that under our hats, shall we?

A few of us have been in some trouble before. Czardas comes to mind as someone who had received a few warnings, but cleaned up his act quite well when he returned to NS years later.

I was modded at a time where I barely knew any of the current moderators aside from occasional chat on IRC. I could be wrong about Jenrak, but I believe she was modded in a similar manner. Lunatic Goofballs, well... everybody loves him.

You don't apply to be a mod, so I would imagine they don't look at them.

Compared to other forums I'm on, where there are scores of mods per subforum and they take DAYS to respond to anything, if they ever bother to at all, the mods here are doing a fantastic job.
They get a lot of crap from people who get all butthurt when reminded that the rules/ToS do, in fact, apply to them the same as everyone else, but they seem to take it in stride.

MODS: Keep up the good work, guys. You're a big part of what makes this forum to pleasant to visit.

What I think about mods -- and, indeed, everyone else -- has vastly improved since Max got in that shipment of subtle Hunter Valley whites for the ModCave. Those full-bodied Barossa reds were playing havoc with my sinuses.

What are your opinion on moderators?

I think that they do a good job and help ppl. I think that they should get paid for their work.

I used to loathe this site's administration style, but have come to really appreciate it over my last year here. My one dislike of their moderating style is that I sometimes feel as if they aren't as lenient on some matters as they could be. My original nation, Cartavesqa, was deleted when I posted past ban with it, but the ban had been applied to a one-time-use puppet, not my main account. Bans apply to all forum accounts, of course, but I hadn't been aware of my puppet's banning when I posted the reply that got me DEAT'd. I had spammed moderation on a public, self-admitted puppet of mine and I was not online when my ban was issued. The next time I logged in, I used my Cartavesqa account. I posted on the forums with it because my main account had received no notification that I was banned, and because I usually logged into my main account before my puppet. I've never been malicious on this site, outside of one very early incident, so I didn't have any reason to believe that I might be banned. I was deleted shortly after making the aforesaid post, which came as a shock to me because I had no clue that I had done anything wrong. I was later informed that I had been banned on my puppet, and that by posting on my main I had unknowingly circumventing a punishment that I wasn't even aware of: I felt that this was a bit unfair, as it was truly an innocent mistake, but iirc my appeal to have my nation restored was denied.

Ultimately, I should have known better than to violate the forums' rules in the first place, but I was well-aware of the posting past ban rule, and wouldn't have posted if I had known that I was banned. I still, to an extent, believe that I should have been given another shot with Cartavesqa because of the aforesaid circumstances. Leniency would have been, imo, appropriate due to such. Fortunately, I was given another chance to play this game, which is evidenced by the existence of Milograd.

The mods rule well for the most part. I like them.

Although I have had conflicts with some of them due to my involvement in the R/D game, I quite like the moderators who we have
