So, here's a little story for you all...


I was in college, see...well, not in college because that would imply that I have actually paid for the classes I was attending, which...not really the point.

I was at college and I had a slackery job at a movie theater where I got to go see movies for free wherever...I don't know if they still do that, we called the "call ins" and it was a courtesy area theater's shared. Anyway, it was awesome. Moving on.

Those were the kinds of jobs me and my friends had, so I had a lot of cheap access to cheap entertainment. But most of the time I needed someone to come with me to make it worth it. So I kept talking this singer chick (I was studying saxophone...well, in that I had a saxophone and I played regularly, but I don't know if "studying" could really be applied in retrospect...not important) into coming along with me.

Well, she was engaged to this ranch hand guy who, you know, worked for a living. She wanted this salt of the earth motherfucker to do all the things this other lazy irresponsible jackass would do with her. Plus, you know, fiance stuff.

So she tried to get him jealous by telling him about this dude she hung out with at school who did all these things with her.

I missed some details because as soon as she told me the gist of her plan all I could imagine is being rend limb from limb by an angry and jealous ranch hand trying desperately to explain that "pinball" wasn't a euphemism for anything other than actual pinball.

In my horrified fog I managed to hear her say, "But he didn't get jealous."

whew.

"Well," I asked, "How did you describe me?"

"I said you looked kind of like a walrus."

"Ah, I think we've managed to put our finger on the problem."

Now, she insists that she didn't mean anything bad...
