Additions to Mount Rushmore?

Well it's a Sat. evening and I'm bored, so here's a few stupid questions for y'all:

1). Should any presidents - if funding were available and it were geologically possible to do so - be added to the facade of Mount Rushmore?
2). If so, whom?
3). If not, why not?

Personally I'd think if that if anyone were to be added, it'd be FDR, although I'm sure neo-Cons would want Reagan's image plastered on there - if Reagan were placed, then add Clinton too.

However, given the amount of partisanship that would arise from such a debate, I don't think anyone, not even FDR, should be added - America is and always will be forevermore too politcally polarized to honour anybody else.

And besides, if it ain't broken, don't fix it, and Mt. Rushmore is at least a symbol of America most everyone can enjoy and "agree with," so to speak.

You guys will never agree on who else to add, so... One of two compromise solutions...

A) Leave it as it is.

B) Carve the end of th rockface, on the left, into something you can all agree on being representative of the majority of Presidents that you don't want carved up there... Say, a giant dick, for example... Joke

I maintain that my idea to add one of the presidents nobody cares about would be perfectly equitable. Someone who died in their first term or something.

Well, technically, it's an unfinished landmark. The original Rushmore was way more extensive than that, complete with the presidents' torso.

I agree with leaving it, and other existing monuments alone. If nothing else, to preserve the integrity of the original artist's work. Projects like Crazy Horse that are still in progress, are another matter - so long as they are finished with the same vision they started with, I have no problem.

If someone wanted to head up a new project along similar lines, go for it - but don't add, subtract, or alter existing works of art.

Nah. I may not agree with some of it, or may not think there's much actual 'art' to some of what passes these days, but I still believe in the creator's intellectual rights to have their work's integrity maintained. As an artist myself of sorts, I suppose I'm a bit biased.
