What are your religious beliefs?

Postby Sanctus Pacis » Fri Jul 01, 2011 9:08 pm

Note: I am aware that this has been made before, but I haven't found a recent one.

So, what doctrine do you live by and what are your religious beliefs? If you are of a certain denomination, please say so.

As for me, I am Roman Catholic.

"If someone has to resort to a hallucinogen to cope with life's problems or find inspiration, they do not deserve the happiness it gives them."
"Music today was better before we were born. Despite having no context with which to state this opinion I can safely say all music made today sucks."
King Aladín (1430-1447)

"If a man is condemned to death, do not torture nor make him face a painful death, for if he had committed such a vile thing that he need be sentenced to death, he will be tortured in Hell for his insolence."

I'm sort of my own form of Christianity. I'm Baptist, I don't believe in one Satan, I don't believe in destiny, and in pushing science and what not forward. Even if it doesn't agree with my faith.

We all know who these things turn out.

Atheism is #1, Christianity is #2, and #3 tends to vary.

We Mennonites call ourselves the "third way", between Catholicism (we agree on placing good works above grace by faith alone)

and Protestantism (we distrust institutionalism, ritual, and centralized authority).

Our guiding light is the Sermon on the Mount which we take we great seriousness.

and a little more substance, here: http://www.thirdway.com/menno/?Topic=22_Anabaptist+Seed

Non-religious. Spirituality is a factor in my life, however. If you consider religion and spirituality the same thing, then we are at odds as to the definitions. More importantly, I'm interested in truth and goodness. Call it what you want.

My main belif system is closest to deisism. The diving clockmaker, god exists but doesn't intervene unless something breaks.
My core beliefs:
1)God exists and is all powerful
2)God is intervening less and less in man's affairs as man becomes more technologically advanced and becomes better able to help itself
3)Humans aren't anything special in his eyes we're just one of a near infinite multitude of child species.

I'm pretty much Baha'i, although I get alot from Taoism as well. And I have my own bizarre mental metaphysical theorem.
