You know, we aren't a stupid race. Sure we aren't as technologically advanced as a space fairing race, but that's a given. We are a very clever race that, with the exception of the dark ages, has experienced rapid technological, ideological, and cultural development over a rather short space of time. In less than 200 years we've gone from being primarily an agrarian society to a nuclear powered industrial powerhouse. In my opinion, if an alien species were to ever visit our planet they would at the very least be impressed with how far we've gone in such short periods of time.

As for the OP, I dunno how reputable the FBI's source is, but if it's true then I'm definitely excited. Of course then someone will come out and say it was a Soviet spy plane with midgets operating it.

Apparently primitive radar equipment, which blasts out a simple frequency, is enough to bring down an alien saucer capable of interstellar flight. What utter nonsense.

It was the ninety fifties. That was around the time they believed your economic policy determined whether you went to hell or heaven.

Imagine you met a species which has just started to farm and still rely on plants for cloths and live in caves... Would you consider them smart or stupid?

Unless of course the aliens did it in half the time, and went to space travel in 200 years. In that case we might seem to be a terribly retarded species. No reason to be proud of something we can not yet scale to.

What if the aliens are already among us? Look at Michael Jackson for example.

Crimes committed by Muslims will be a pan-Islamic plot and proof of Islam's inherent evil. On the other hand crimes committed by non-Muslims will merely be the acts of loners who do not represent their belief system at all.
