One thing I never understood is why all single stall bathrooms aren't gender neutral.

I'll lament the loss of segregated bathrooms, tbh. I've been in the gents on occasion, while a lot of women's can be just as bad, let's just say I'd be very worried for the more upscale previously ladies specific powder rooms that opted for strategic placement of carpeting and sofas.

When I was at university they just rebranded the disabled loos as "accessible" and put signs up saying anyone who felt uncomfortable using the others could use them. It's not 100% ideal because of the optics of the thing - trans isn't a disability.

But is it preferable to the situations I've seen when there's only gender neutral loos and large numbers of people are quite obviously uncomfortable with it even at gigs by "right on" bands, or the situation of one place I visited where there was one loo labelled for "female and non-binary" (without urinals) and the other "gender neutral" (with urinals and cubicles)? Yeah.
