Why would I whine? They have a vastly greater probability of being alive and not killing friends and family then under your “views”.

Good for the Philippines! Glad to see them winning. Hopefully they get the virus 100% under control and tourism can flourish there again. I want to go to Palawan.

Don't be so sure; it's also election season right now (link if you want to keep track), so certain Filipino...COVID conspiracy theorists (for want of a better phrase)...are convinced that something is up.

Meanwhile, in “fuck around and find out” news:

Airlines that dropped mask requirements are now suffering staff shortages due to COVID-19

Overseas airlines are having to cancel hundreds of flights as they grapple with coronavirus-related staffing shortages weeks after they ditched rules requiring passengers and staff to mask up in the air.

The disruptions also come as the CEOs of leading U.S. airlines urge the Biden administration to roll back a federal rule requiring that masks be worn in the sky.

So what’s more disruptive - having to put cloth on your face to get on a plane, or not being able to get on a plane because there isn’t enough crew to safely fly it?

There is a case of someone in lockdown starving, proceeding to eat their own excrement and dying. However I've yet to find any English sources on it.
This is the news article about it, though I have done very little fact-checking if this is the case: https://tw.appledaily.com/international ... NDOBEL3CQ/

The translation will come when my mental state improves.

I'd note that JetBlue, an American carrier, was having staff issues while the TSA order was in effect.

No.
There is a reason it’s a lifetime appointment. It’s so judges can’t be removed on the whims of the electorate.

But judges can be removed at the whim of the legislature. Elections have consequences. If you support the Democrats then you can't be sure of keeping the Trump judges you now love.

You need a two thirds vote. Removing judges because you don’t like their decisions is a terrible precedent to set. You no longer have an independent judiciary at that point.

They should make recommendations and not have the power to issue mandates like they have since before 2020.

In the interest of public health, they should issue mandates. It's the whole reason the CDC exist, to warn, advise, and initiate mandates for the interest of public health.

Should we stop listening to experts who initiate building codes, work safety, and fire inspections? Because that's the equivalent.

Why do we even need mandates. Are people truly so lacking in self-preservation? If the answer is yes... Jesus Christ.

Let it be one's choice stop mandating it for all.

Why are mask mandates bad Lumen? Why? Answer this.

I mean, widespread mask usage is really bad for communication and social cohesion. Not to mention most people writ large just hate it and for very good reason.

But dying of Covid is worse, so as a temporary measure that definitely outweighs the negatives.

There are masks that are transparent, so communication is easy for lip-reading or seeing a face.

Although hating something isn't a reason. Many people hate wearing clothes, but its necessary to

Yeah, but people aren’t wearing those writ large, so it’s basically irrelevant.

And hating something is certainly a reason if the hate is strong enough and collectively agreed upon enough. As an example, people hate not being allowed to speak their mind. Collectively, they hate it so much, they made a whole human rights framework that protects their right to speak their mind.

There is a big difference in speaking ones mind and wearing a piece of cloth over your mouth and nose.

Indeed.

The latter it certainly a social ill, but not as much of a social ill. It inhibits accuracy in your ability to speak your mind and be understood, but doesn’t prevent you from speaking your mind altogether. So the latter is certainly worse, but we do take collective action when we hate something enough (collectively).

When I went to Universal Studios in January, masks were required while in line for rides but not walking around the park. That's probably where I caught corona though, just extrapolating from the timeline of symptoms. It was admittedly stupid to go on MLK day for both corona and non-corona reasons.

My hearing is fine, but I have a hard time interpreting facial expressions as is and really have to pay attention. Masks make it essentially impossible.

But again, as a temporary measure against a serious harm, it's reasonable. Key word being "temporary".

Repeat the question you just said out loud and then think about how dumb this is.
