This is correct. And it is unlikely they'll open any time soon. As some of you might remember Ardern has been described as "New Zealand's Trudeau, except on Immigration she's more like Trump".

For context... export education is not only a huge sector here but it's actually pretty fundamental to how universities and colleges (high schools) acquire funding. Ardern has been very much opposed to trying to find a way of letting the students back in. If you consider the need versus the risk, it doesn't stack up (just stick them in a "pop up" MIQ facility) but it is entirely commensurate with Labour's 2017 era immigration positions. The exception is for a couple of hundred postgrads... mostly PhD candidates, iirc.

Pretty much. They're very nice people though, and if I didn't love Australia so much I'd probably want to live there.

Canada sounds like a great place to visit one day though. Maybe Ireland too.
