Game-wise, New Alexandria is an awesome place, and I really would love to visit it, or see something like that. I'm a sucker for huge cities, Halo 3: ODST really scratched that itch.

I also love how there is a Fridge Brilliance trope of sort whereby Halo: Combat Evolved was canonically easier because by that point, the Covenant has used up some of its best soldiers, and in CE, you ended up fighting the reserve forces.

Reach has got to be my favorite prequel out of any game series. Everything just played out so smoothly with that game.

You know it is kind of weird now that I think about it. For being such a futuristic setting, little of the Halo storyline actually takes place within cities. Most of the story takes place either in the deep wilderness or within different isolated military outposts. I wonder what human culture is like within the Halo universe when everyone isn't living in fear of a covenant attack, it's fun to speculate.

Before First Contact, most of humanity was living in fear of human separatists and under the rule of an increasingly authoritarian government that would spend most of its time trying to figure out how to control the various planets under its control, while secretly being lead by The Assembly, a shadow government made up of AI's trying to ensure the survival of humanity.

So basically the 20th and 21st centuries, but on a galactic scale.

Yep you know you messed up if even paragon Shepard gets mad at you. Also thanks for the compliment on my flag.

In other news I beat ME2 last night and I was able to save everyone on my crew during the Suicide Mission. This has never happened to me before, so I'm actually glad that I managed to do that.

I just need to finish Legion's loyalty mission and I'll move on to ME3. I was going to play the Arrival DLC, but I don't think I'm ready for that. I'll most likely play Arrival once I make my second Shepard.

That explains why humanity had such a strong hold against the covenant, the Spartan program and the military assets could be repurposed to fight the covenant.

That's actually quite grim, it sounds like humanity has never really had it easy in the Halo universe at all. If I remember right, I read somewhere that the war with the covenant killed off over half of the entire human population, not even counting the casualties the flood caused.

All I wanted was to be on the side of the Separatists more, and with more species.

"Yeah, seriously. Fuck ye all, ya bunch of Covenant Loyalists. This is for all the pain you put me through." Seriously, that level on Halo 2 with the Hunters was... satisfying, and that's an understatement.

I totally agree! The Arbiter single handedly got the most passive-aggressive revenge on the covenant and I love it! The UNSC should have totally recruited the saved elites into their ranks.

At least I don't think so.. Not gonna lie, I have a LOT of hours in the series.

Let me put it this way: you should be LOADED when you play it. It's kinda intended to be a post-game DLC after all, at least, canonically. As such, I've never experienced Arrival with anything less than a complete character.

Well I do have my weapons and armor upgraded fully, so I shouldn't have too much trouble at least. I'll bring the Collector Beam just in case I run into trouble.

There's literally only one enemy in Arrival that even calls for a heavy weapon, you'll definitely be fine.

Honestly, Liara is overrated. So much so that it may have been intentional.

My head canon is that the trilogy ends with refusal. In other words, Shepard doesn’t stop the Reapers, and they subjugate the galaxy one more time before the aliens of the next cycle defeat them through the information in Liara’s time capsule. The entire plot of the trilogy then is a recollection of Shepard’s life as told by Liara. Thing is, Liara isn’t a reliable narrator and gave herself self-insertish prominence in Shepard’s story.

I imagine she also had unrequited feelings. Shepard’s true love interest and lifelong companion was none other than Private Jenkins. Liara was so jealous she rewrote herself in this role and had Jenkins killed off in the very beginning.

Honestly i think the canon ending should have been that you lose and the Reapers win. But you could do a ton of damage to them and weaken them enough based on your decisions in the games, or as FGR said, leave behind data in a time capsule for the next generation of species to defeat the Reapers in the next cycle.

Come on. You think Jenkins was simply shot by Geth drones of all things? When Kaiden and Shepard could shrug off their fire while wearing the exact same armor?

Geth fuel can’t melt Alliance shielding.

I don’t know if I’d unironically agree with refusal because it’s pretty dark, but the plot of the trilogy will be hard to follow up on. Even if they bring back Shepard, it’ll be difficult to give them an equally interesting adventure. Mass Effect wouldn’t be interesting if it was just a space opera. The Reapers and their threat are integral to everything.

Andromeda was their attempt at a reboot and it really lagged in story.
