Out of curiosity, are the gamer threads only for video games? Are games like Dunegons and Dragons eligible for dicussion?

Anyway, got back into Warfarme for a bit. Annoyed DE continues to hide shit behind Mastery Rank, which is absolute nonsense.

Considering this forum allows threads about individual games, it's probably okay to be very broad here. If it isn't than you could always make a thread for tabletop games.

Im certain the past versions of this thread have had board games talked about before, i think in the last one i talked about Halo Fleet battle for a bit.

welp

decided to play some WG:EE campaign
did the "Counter-Strike" mission with no air support available because I hadn't the command stars to unlock gazelles with rocket pods

I got two rocket helos at the mission start, but they got shot down by massed MG fire from a bunch of T-55s rip rip

so I cleared out the place with massive roving fleets of Leopard 1s supported by copious amounts of Flakpanzer Gepards and some FV102 Strikers

lost 1500 points of units doing the mission for 2800 points of enemy troops killed, and it took 50 minutes

Still fucking addicted to Civ5. I love making maps that look like galaxies and manipulating it to take over the whole world.
Also, I played EndWar and the COD Modern Warfare series over again on a new Xbox account because I wanted to feel the magic anew again.

If you're talking about DnD games on PC or console then it's fine to post here.

I would imagine discussion about tabletop stuff would want it's own thread, though I don't think anyone would be particularly bothered by a dnd discussion here.

So what do you think the future of gaming is going to be, guys?

Everyone says VR, but in my personal opinion, I think that the amount of money required to get into that kind of gaming is ridiculous. On top of that, isn't it all just a gimmick? Like, when will the pzazz of low poly akimbo games wear off?

If Augmented Reality is as cool as when Microsoft showed it off with Minecraft, I think that kind of gaming becoming popular if items that are similar to google glass become more affordable.

But I don't think I've seen anything at the moment which could revolutionise gaming, I just see a gradual evolution and Improvement of what we have currently. I see VR as an addition onto the current gaming experience for certain genres and such, not something that'll replace traditional gaming in any significant way.

And since I haven't heard any outright disagreement, anyone here played DnD? Ever been interested to play?

To be honest, gaming has always been something that has been developed with the casual gamer in mind. Don't get me wrong, I know that isn't a rule of thumb, obviously, but that's how I've always seen it. The PC is unique in the sense that it, as a platform, is sort of a proving grounds for gaming development. It's the pick that breaks new ground. VR is a great example of this. But PC gamers are pretty much the minority of gamers.

The problem I see is that something like VR probably won't be desirable to someone who just plays games for maybe a couple of hours after school or work. The casual. Why would they invest the massive amount of money for something like augmented reality or VR if they just want to frag for a dozen rounds on COD?

I hypothesize that video games will probably never leave the screen in a meaningful way unless something revolutionary happens and one of these new technologies sweeps the world in a cost effective package.

It's hard to know how VR will change gaming now, but plenty of technologies that were supposed to be the future of gaming were developed for consoles.

VR gaming will probably get cheaper in the future if developers want people to really utilize it.

If you want to win that mission in twenty minutes, you need to un-make that silly decision to not unlock rocket Gazelles, then deploy all six of them.

I built my PC 5 years ago and haven't had a single issue. As long as you aren't messing with the registry or you don't install any apps you don't need, then it really shouldn't ever encounter an issue.

What issue are you experiencing, what is telling you its a driver related and have you been able to pin point a particular driver as the culprit.

if reisntalling the driver hasn't helped then there are a few other possible issues that might be involved: Software conflcit, did you install or upgrade any software on the system about the time the issue started? Borked windows install/update, possible solution is to to roll back to a system state before theissue started if you have a save availble and last but not least, Hardware issue, saddly unless you have an office full of indentical systems to swap parts with this one is very difficult to test (normal proceedure would be swap hard drives with another indentical working system and see if the fault moves or stays).

A graphics driver and a driver for my wireless mouse.

I took my laptop into Best Buy for repair and after they were done it would blue screen after awhile and mention faulty drivers. It stopped doing that after a day though. Since the warranty is still in effect I'll take it back to them.

This actually reminds me that whilst I was playing Skyrim that despite 20 something years since the ES origins even now I can feel the faint echo of DnD, since apparently its origins come from. in part, a weekly DnD game.

Of course, DnD is an intentionally generic fantasy setting, but even then something about Skyrim echoed very faintly of DnD, beyond the vey obvious presence of Dungeons & Dragons.

God this OP is horribly insufficient.

I demand bi-weekly console wars! Unique character interpretations written in book report form! The entire history of the Final Fantasy franchise and a well written thesis as to why it is secretly a metaphor for the Vietnam War! A real gamer would poop these things out at the slightest provocation!
