And I think that whoever the next doctor is, it will be someone easily recognizable to those that watch brittish TV, because brittish tv just circulates the same people around and around.

It is my understanding that Doctor Who has a very proud tradition of taking brilliant actors who aren't famous at all and making them stars.

You're looking for Samuel Adams, a "rebel" (terrorist) who orchestrated the Boston Massacre and Tea Party that got the Americans pissed at the Brits.

Wasn't Sam Adams also the guy who made sure the Soldiers from the massacre got a fair trial and got most of them acquitted seeing as they were under attack from an angry mob?

That's one account of it. The other says they were just a bunch of mean dicks who shot into the crowd (which made up entirely of beautiful Aryan snowflakes, as opposed to mixed bag of racially diverse protestors, including a filthy half-African mutt), but that was the account Sam had published.

He was a bit of a dick, you see.

Sort of. There's not really rhyme nor reason to who they cast, just who they like.

Hartnell was famous for his army officer roles, but the Doctor was new for him.

Troughton and Pertwee were both semi-famous comic actors beforehand.

Tom Baker was a poor bricklayer with an acting background, but was out of work at the time.

Davison had done some minor work for the BBC beforehand, notably Hitchiker's Guide and a popular mini-series about James Herriot.

Colin Baker was also an actor for the BBC.

McCoy was Scottish and a comedian. But mainly Scottish.

McGann was Paul McGann.

The new series Doctors all fit that criteria, though.

From a work to a work I was led to a work."

I'm guessing that the former account of rioting is more likely. Since we British aren't always naturally evil, I doubt the soldiers would have fired randomly into the crowd with no orders.

That's also the correct account, or at least the one best supported by eyewitness accounts given at the trials. An angry mob was throwing things at the troops, they fired some warning shots, and two dipshits fired into the crowd. The two dipshits were convicted of Manslaughter, the rest were acquitted.

I can see that. I have to admit that I've never seen an episode of Doctor Who and thought "I know that actor", but I've never thought about that before. That makes me happy.

I'd really like a particularly old Doctor next. However, a friend suggested James Corden for the role. Notwithstanding the fact that it's a terrible idea, I think it would be a hilarious episode to watch.

We're likely not going to get another particularly old Doctor. The majority of the fangirls would pitch a fit.

So would I.

Not to mention the tendency has been to almost always pick a younger looking doctor then the previous one. My guess is the next doctor will be a 90s kid. Ecclesten was born in the early 60s. Tennant was born in 1971, Smith was born in the 1982. By this math the next doctor will be born around 1993. So any 19 year old British actors are up for grabs.

No. Good God, no.

Sorry but the math supports it. There's consistently been a five-10 year age difference between Doctors. I don't think that's going to change anytime soon. Honestly I really don't care as long as its a good actor, although it would be neat to have someone my age be the doctor.

...This is actually accurate, upon investigating it. Also, oddly, the first two Doctors died at 67 and Pertwee died at 76. Baker managed to avoid that, likely by scaring Death with his bug-eyes.

But Davison, who was in 20's, was replaced by the 41-year-old Baker, which is what I think will happen.

A teenaged Doctor would be complete shit.

Smith is going to be here for a while, unless he manages to stumble into traffic or kill himself with the sonic prop, which is extremely likely, given his... entire personality.

I bet Moffat leaves after Series 9, but I think Matt will stay for a series or two longer, unless he gets a good offer for something else.

In the off chance Moffat outlives Smith, I do believe he has said he prefers older Doctors.

And I do believe anyone that comes after Moffat would also choose an older Doctor.
