Firefox joins Chrome in no longer supporting RSS feeds out of the box (that is, a web extension is now required). So I need to find a replacement: I think I want to choose one that allows me to delete entries that I already read, so I can replace YouTube’s broken subscription feed (I can’t delete many LGR videos that I have long already watched).

I would buy one of those customisable ones. Say, I want WASD to light up as red, and maybe ZXC as yellow, or Q as cyan.

It will be cool for video games as long as their brightnesses are adjustable.

Also, I don't mind someone buying or using their graphics card to mine Bitcoins, but there's such a thing as being too much.

Look at this! These are the kind of people that inflates the cost of graphics cards, or leave it unavailable for those that wants it for some other purpose.

Oh wow, RSS. That's a blast from the past. I know Opera supports a similar thing locally, but I don't know if it allows deletion of entries. I don't think there are any commonly-used modern browsers that still support true RSS feeds, after looking at Edge, Chrome, Firefox, Opera, and Vivaldi. Of course, it's really not the end of the world to have to install an extension - I will never understand people's vehement hatred of them.

Has something replaced RSS or do most websites simply not use RSS anymore? I'd like to know. The rumor I've read is that most people didn't use RSS or didn't become aware of it and for the people who did take advantage of it, it negatively impacted ad revenue for websites by enabling people to not have to visit a web page as frequently.

I'd agree that if you like a niche feature that the typical person isn't into, that an extension is usually your solution.

Pale Moon still supports RSS to my knowledge but Pale Moon is a Firefox fork that is niche, lots of newer stuff doesn't work for it. It is more useful if you still want to use Legacy crap for just a bit longer.

Similar upgrade path as me, just recently retired my old FX-8370 and moved into a Ryzen 7 myself. However I'm Zen+, running a 2700 liquid cooled on a X470 from MSI and 2 EVGA 1070 SC2' iCXs in SLI.

Just what I needed, a fucking windows 10 update download slowing my computer down while I am trying to do my Christmas shopping. Oh and it's reinstalled all my software so everything goes back to default settings, screwing everything from my touchpad settings upwards. Oh and it has brought back the hideous Google Chrome rounded search bar that I hate.

Fucking assholes.

For me, the weird thing was that Lockdown Browser (you can only access your school's webportal with it, and you can't switch programs, hence the name) locked me out of Task Manager.

"Task Manager has been disabled by the admin."

What... you mean me? I am the owner of my own laptop and I didn't do that.

After one trip to Google and going to regedit, there it was. DisableTaskManager was set to 1.

The Lockdown Browser never gave me back the privilege because it probably got shut off prematurely.

Ahh, looks like I'm not the only one. :P How bad was it, actually?

For me, I have no issues other than this one. It doesn't support high DPI, so everything is blurry as heck.

It was absolutely horrible, as I was solely using Ubuntu-MATE at the time it was first introduced and WINE didn't like it. Luckily I was able to get out of having to use the browser during that semester, but next semester I had to use it anyway. I had switched to Windows by then due to unrelated problems, but I was constantly worried that my computer would die or crash and be stuck in an unusable state because of its ridiculous registry modifications.

The project to build my new computer has been postponed indefinitely, because the controversy surrounding Windows 10 and privacy has had a negative effect on my health.

So the RTX is going to have to be patient…

Easier said than done, but perhaps it's time to go back to Windows 7 or Linux. Personally speaking, of course... I don't really mind all the privacy thing. I just don't let them take any kind of data from me, or disable "Improve my experience by sending MS my data". I know it goes much more than that, but ultimately, I take a few steps here and there to make sure that none of this gets released.

The trouble with trying to tweak Windows 10 is that forum help threads often derail into rants about mass surveillance and allegations that privacy is dead, amongst other conspiracy theories, while help guides do not work well for the LTSC channel that I am planning to go for. Bear in mind that the new processor is Kaby Lake, so it may not work well on Windows 7.

The user experience is certain to differ greatly from the retail releases and enterprise releases, and that is one of the provocative hurdles I face when searching for tutorials to tweak Windows 10.

I was so distressed at being separated from my PC over the Christmas break that I've only gone and bought myself a Ryzen 5 laptop.

It's fine. I spent three days visiting my parents, and now I'm building them a new computer.

I mayyyyy have slightly hosed myself here.
The laptop I bought has a Ryzen 5 2500U processor, nominal speed 2GHz (which is actually pretty low tbh), boost speed up to 3.6GHz. Now, I obviously bought this on something of a budget, but it turns out that the 2500U doesn't actually support overclocking? Or something?

Its motherboard isn't supported by AMD's OverDrive or Ryzen Master overclocking software. I'm guessing that I'm still able to "manually" overclock it through BIOS but this does feel like a bit of a blow. Apparently the 2600H has 3 to 3.6GHz, which would have been ideal (though never saw a laptop equipped with it in my price range).

You are correct, also I feel like it should be pointed out that boost clock =/= overclock. Boost clock just means that when temperatures are not a problem the CPU will automatically 'boost' up to 3.6GHz to help with workloads. It is not a consistent increase like overclocking is, and it's entirely handled by the operating system and the processor.

Meaning under sustained loads (gaming) you're never going to hit that for long unless you can somehow cool the thing down a lot.
