I just started a Thousand Sons army for 40k, this is my first foray into crunch even though I've been reading fluff for quite a while now. Any advice?

His mistake was acting like an Emperor-General instead of an actual dad. I mean, look at Lorgar. He could have just said "Don't worship me" or "Don't build churches in my name". Instead he burned them down and made Lorgar kneel in the ashes. I'd have gone rouge on his golden ass too.

The intent of the Imperial Truth was clear, and Lorgar was unabashedly against that intent. The response was appropriate.

Except he didn't. He barely even respected them. He always assumed everything he was doing was correct, and didn't stop to think some of the 20 guys spawned from him wouldn't agree. Hell, he barely consulted them on anything. That's not what a leader is supposed to do.

Because he MADE THEM. He appointed said basket cases and psychopaths as leaders of barely human squads of warmachines. If he wasn't such a neglectful nimrod, he might have waited a little. Or not made them leaders at all.

Lorgar was raised on religious dogma and need to believe in some higher power. Instead of trying to convince him that was wrong, he does that. Of course Lorgar was pissed.

Not posessed, no. I can't find a link but as I recall the Primarch's are so powerful partially because they have a chunk of warp... Essance, in them. Or something.

It probably wasn't the best idea to do that.

Then you have the whole "Emps was an asshole and hypocrite" thing on top of everything else and honestly it's not hard to see why the Imperium was going to fracture under the weight of (probably) 18 demi-gods with more issues than common sense.

Seriously, this all could have been avoided if Emps trusted them a little and gave a hoot about them personally.

E: there's also the problem of the Primarch's being portrayed inconsistently across the canon. I know BL has some handwave bull about it, but it makes these conversations about fault and shit hard when you've got single Primarch's and Emppy himself running the personality spectrum.

E2: The point here is that the HS 40k Novel /tg/ pumped out a few years back is all the canon we ever need lads, it has the best primarchs and the best Big Daddy E.

The second option is the only acceptable option. It's very difficult and time-consuming to un-crazy people. The Emperor is powerful, but he can't make time.
