pretty cool

I can't decide whether my favourite Melvins album is Stag or Lysol. It used to be Never Breathe What You Can't See (with Jello Biafra) but I like how varied Stag is - the Bit is one of the best openers to an album I've heard. But lately I'm more and more impressed with how oppressive and heavy feeling Lysol manages to be when there's so little actually being done. The erratic drum riffs, the occasional moody bass motif in the back ground.

It's just quite inspired.

Good stuff. Dopethrone is one of the only stoner doom albums I love from beginning to end.

Hey me too.

Dopethrone is a god damn experience. Those vocals at the end of Funeralopolis get my dick rock hard.

If this counts. (Gotta love Iceland. These guys got a big variety on their one debut, 17-song, hour-long album. And this guy really freaking challenges himself vocally, and it's awesome)

I was wondering that about Finland myself.

My personal favorite is Houdini, but Stag would probably be second.

It's not much, but Hellhammer has cited hardcore punk band Discharge as an influence. Besides that, I have no idea where Pandora would get that from... :?

Inspired by the music of Black Sabbath, Venom, Raven, and Motörhead,[4] guitarist / vocalist Thomas Gabriel Fischer (a.k.a. "Tom Warrior"), bassist / vocalist Urs Sprenger (a.k.a. "Steve Warrior") and drummer Pete Stratton formed Hammerhead (later Hellhammer) in early 1982.[5] Although Fischer was also "blown away" by the first two Discharge records - Why? and Hear Nothing See Nothing Say Nothing - he "was not into punk at all."

Pandora seems to be both right and wrong on this one.

I recommend Sólstafir for the more mellow metal fans. Icelandic musicians are apparently great in everything. Thanks Cosumar (I know I thanked you on the other thread, as well, but eh).

And my god is Iceland beautiful. I love the scenery in that video.
