OK, so the audios - back in 1989, Doctor Who was cancelled. You probably knew this.

You probably also knew that quite a substantial amount of people were a teensy bit miffed by this. What you might not have known was that the cast agreed - they weren't done making Who.

So, you have this guy, Nicholas Briggs, who is a fantastic bastard. (He does most of the monster voices for the revival now, most prominently the Daleks.) Briggs is really big into audio work - i.e. voiceover stuff and the like. He also thinks this "cancellation" thing is bullshit. So Briggs, being, as I mentioned, a fantastic bastard, decided to make his own Doctor Who.

Some others agreed. These others happened to be Peter Davison, Colin Baker, and Sylvester McCoy.

Thus were born the audio dramas - they're "fan"-produced (though the company, Big Finish, can hardly be described as a fan group now) audio plays (think old radio dramas) that take place between episodes of the Classic series, and star Five, Six, and Seven, as well as several of their companions and a few new companions of Big Finish's creation. It's kind of fucking awesome.

Oh, but Briggs wasn't done yet. He's also got Eight his own separate, independent line of stories, and has recently managed to convince Tom Baker to come aboard as well.

And, sometimes, they get all the Doctors together and let them argue. It's beautiful.

Given that the show is filmed out of Wales now, absolutely not.
