I can see it the same way. At beginning I thought that I could simulate something very interesting rather than just Role-Play scenarios on some forum topics or regional RMBs.
I saw Max Barry books at early beginning reading about NS site, however in my country these books are not available for reading while I'm far outside of Americas. And very few from my country ever playing this "simulation game". It is mainly for several communities debates.

And on one of the most popular virtual pet sites (hint: it has existed since 1999), you can create a profile page for your pet, complete with HTML formatting. The Factbooks/Dispatches feature on NS reminds me of that.

However, that site is rated E, not PG. Saying "hell" or "damn" will get you banned there.

Same. I'm from the 19th century, and I still don't ever remember a time that it wasn't normal to say "hell" and "damn."
