Strange issue

I have a strange issue. It's probably something terrifically simple, but I'm not good at all with computers, so I'd appreciate some help.

The issue is that the little blinking line that appears at the end of a line of text I'm typing appears in places that it should not. For example, when I click at the top of this page - say, to the right of the writing that reads "Technical" or just below it "Post a new topic", the little blinking line appears.

What is this bug? Is it related to the ongoing maintenance?

You might have turned 'caret browsing' on by accident, if this is happening on other, non-Nationstates websites as well - if you poke around in your browser settings (or google where you need to poke in your browser settings) you should be able to find out how to fix it.

It actually is happening on other websites, now that I check.
