Well I have discovered that in Chrome, if I open the login box by clicking, pressing Enter after inputting my details logs me in, but if instead I open the box by navigating to it on the keyboard and pressing Enter, then any subsequent Enter will just close it again.

With luck, if I fix that, it will fix the JAWS issue as well.

Works beautifully, thanks. With regards to the Alt tag thing, I think it was because the image was within a link and therefor needed descriptive text because it performed an action. It is reading correctly now so thanks for working with me on that too.

Pllus with the fast accessibility linky I don't much care about the login box not working as it makes little difference to me whether a page load occurs or an object is set visible. I still have to click to make it happen. :)

Okay, don't kill me but here is another image that speaks its name rather than useful information:
Code: Select all
<a href="/"><img src="/images/titlerift.png" alt=""></a>

This is because the img is a link, so the screen reader does its best to try and guess what the linky does. As the Alt tag is empty it falls back to the image name otherwise it would just say "link"

The banners page has all the banners you've unlocked, if that's any good to you.

Oh, and one more thing I can't believe I missed. Now that Rift is the default, I can't get it on my phone. I get the mobile rift, but still, putting in rift.nationstates.net doesn't work anymore. Anyway I can get mobile Safari to go to desktop Rift (which I do prefer over the mobile rift for several reasons) without doing 'Request Desktop Site' every time?

You should now be able to use the Enter key reliably to log in! I think I tracked down the problem.

Ohhh, that makes so much sense. Yes. Thank you for explaining that. I've fixed this one; please do let me know of any others you find!

And fixed it is. Lovely. Thanks so much. The alt text linkky problem also confirmed fixed.

Other problems:
Notices page:
Code: Select all
<a href="nation=aipotu_ruo"><img src="/images/flags/uploads/aipotu_ruo__878678t1.jpg" class="smallflag"></a>

Now you might thinkk that would be crappy as it is then followed by the nation name but you can skip duplicate links in JAWS so you only hear the one if the setting is on.

Telegrams page:
Code: Select all
<a class="refreshbutton" href="/page=telegrams?folder=inbox"><i class="icon-arrows-cw"></i></a>

Think that is the sppot, it reads as page=telegrams

Okay, I think this has been around forever but looking at all this code suddenly struck me as fixable.

On the region and nations pages the miniflag has a title that duplicates the text of the link. Technically JAWS should filter that out but it is missing it for some reason. Maybe because of the span element. Not sure.

Code: Select all
<li>75 minutes ago: <a href="nation=kanaia" class="nlink"><img src="/images/flags/uploads/kanaia__633528t2.jpg" class="miniflag" alt="" title="The Ocean-Washed Archipelago of Kanaia"><span>The Ocean-Washed Archipelago of Kanaia</span></a>

I think this one actually needs the title to be "" or gone. :)

The icons at the top are nicely done and fit with the font, making it feel very polished. The ones in the sidebar seem overly large to me. Granted, they'd probably display better if suspended above each option, but that, too, would look cumbersome.

I think, from a design point of view, reducing the icon size to be no higher the letters themselves would do the trick. Perhaps removing the shadowing behind them would help as well? For example, the icon for dispatches has shadowing on the inside, making it look blurry compared to how much crisper the region flag and WA symbol display are.

The smaller icons at the bottom of the sidebar (Store, Help, News) are the perfect size and don't detract so much. They lack the shadowing (as far as I can tell) and have a polished feel to them.

That said, I know what a pain in the ass it is to get everything to match precisely, and I'm sure someone worked very hard at making certain things were uniform. I can appreciate that effort.

Also, reducing the size of the icons will give more space to the "Latest Forum Topics" portion of the sidebar, which shows only two topics for me.
That's what my problem is. I wouldn't care if the icons were big if it didn't cut off the latest topics section like that.

Added alt text, although I do wonder if it will work with JAWS's duplicate skipping, since the two links aren't directly adjacent in the HTML.

Added "Refresh" title tag to it, which hopefully does the trick. There's actually no image there but rather a webfont icon, which doesn't take an alt tag.

I don't see any theme-related issue. Are you located in the right region, with permission to accept embassy requests?

Restarting my phone fixed it. Dunno what that was about, but now there's this.

Can we get alt text for banners, too? I really want to see why a user has gotten a specific banner. Have been asking that a few times already :P

Thanks for the accessibility changes.

BTW, nothing was a jaws 16 bug, or even just a jaws bug. I tested the same with NVDA and got the exact same results. However, it's all fixed now, thankees!

Thanks for the fixes Violet. The regional / national happenings are working wonderfully now.

One I can't believe I missed. Must have been tired:
Nation page flag I think:
Code: Select all
<a href="/nation=cerb"><img src="/images/flags/uploads/cerb__448263.png" alt=""></a>

Notices are much better but a little odd for THINGS awarded to the nation.
Code: Select all
<li class="clickablenotice newnotice" data-main-url="/page=banners#banner_i26"><div class="noticesicon"><img src="/images/flags/uploads/cerb__448263t1.png" class="smallflag" alt="Cerb"></div><div class="noticestext"><p><b>Cerb</b> gained the banner <a href="/page=banners#banner_i26">On Rails</a>.<p class="noticestimestamp">9 hours ago</div></li>

In the screen reader you hear:

• Graphic Cerb
Cerb gained the banner

Thoughts there are that the timestamp appears to read as though it was in a different line than the rest of the text. Not a huge deal though. The graphic being spoken as cerb isn't ideal. Still the page makes a ton more sense now :)

Thanks so much for being a Dev that will accept accessibility feedback. There are not many as far as I can tell.

My banners aren't displaying on my PC. I can see them when using my mobile device, but when I login on my computer, there's just a big, grey, rectangle. The browser I use is Google Chrome, version 40.0.2214.115 m, which I'm pretty sure is the latest version. I'm also using Nationstates++, if that's been a problem in the past.

Defiantly nice, however when I was on it on my phone the side bar add was partially covering the Latest Forum Topics section.
