Detente Between the West and East Pacifics
Recently, the West Pacific and The East Pacific have engaged in detente talks mediated by the Plains of Perdition, as an ally to the former and an embassy partner to the latter. The three of us wish to announce the result of these historic discussions.
The West and East were previously allied from 2017-20 by the Treaty of the Best Pacifics, which, after a period of deterioration between the regions, was publicly repealed in August 2020. The repeal caused a modern low point in relations between the regions, and tensions ensued for the following half-decade.
This past summer, as part of an effort to solidify the passing margin of Commend Onderkelkia and encourage collaboration between the Sovereign Seven and The East Pacific, a series of World Assembly exchanges were agreed upon, with the West and Perdition as a driving party in this newfound collaboration with the East. With the success of that agreement, a detente was proposed and negotiations began.
Both parties have agreed to the terms listed below, and additionally have agreed to make the following gestures of goodwill to set a strong foundation for a new era in their relations:
First, a keystone aspect of the 2020 breakdown was that the West came into possession of private information from internal East Pacifican spaces. Due to the suspected espionage involved, this contributed to inflamed tensions. The West Pacific now wishes to take the opportunity to ensure transparency on that matter, both as a gesture to the East and to absolve any West Pacificans (notably those who may have also been in the East) of undue suspicion for being responsible. The source of the leak was then-Senator Xoriet, who utilized her mechanical powers within The East Pacific’s Discord server to provide private internal information to the West Pacific.
Second, The East Pacific has decided to close its embassy with The Black Hawks in light of their consistent aggression towards partners old and new, to signify their commitment to this detente and enable new diplomatic opportunities for the East.
It is the hope of all regions involved that this detente begins a new friendship between our Game-Created Regions. We are firmly of the belief that the tension and rivalry between the West and East has primarily served to benefit third parties who have been proven to have the best interests of neither at heart. Therefore, the West and East Pacifics commit to,
- The opening of on-site embassies.
- Attempting to settle any diplomatic disputes or concerns privately.
- Military collaboration consistent with the interests of both, including anti-Raider Unity liberations and offensive action consistent with both parties’ laws and traditions.
- World Assembly collaboration consistent with the aims of both parties, in both chambers.
