So, yeah, as many as you know, the FRA recently threw in the towel. With it, we lost a public event that I, despite only seeing two, very much loved, and that I think served as a great tool to bring all of NationStates, and largely Gameplay, closer together.
I speak, of course, of FRAvision.
I wasn't ready to see this die, so I reached out to some of the old organizers and got their blessing to reuse some of the same core material in a very, very similar production. Same concept - individuals or regions submit self-written and performed songs, they get judged, a winner is picked, and everyone has a jolly good time. Just a new host and name, for a new era.
The main difference is an administrative one - we intend to host this every year off-season to RaiderCon on the same forum (which many of you folks on all sides of Gameplay have already joined), reducing the need to rebuild infrastructure from the ground up each year and decide anew whether you trust the host or not. We will still be placing the majority of responsibility of organization and execution on the winning region, but this way they just have to be mod'd and change a few surface items, rather than create the whole thing from scratch
Once Zetaboards is back up, we'll keep working on moving some stuff around and creating all the necessary sections, and we'll announce the opening of the forums and such in another post a bit closer to the start of submissions (which are timed to coincide with time folks have off work/school, and hopefully therefore to polish up their submissions ). This is more of a heads up - start thinking, start writing, start singing, and get ready for a jolly good time!
I look forward to seeing what the community comes up with, and the fun we'll all have together in the near future!
Please, spread the word to your community - I can't even describe how awesome it'd be to start off with a record number of submissions!
- Ever-Wandering Souls, Field Marshal, The Black Hawks
(tl;dr, FRAvision ain't dead, baby!)
