Let them eat cereal, boycott against Kelloggs.

Postby Saiwana » Wed Mar 27, 2024 5:40 pm

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GjKhyl3DzDo
In a now infamous viral video that was on the news, CEO of Kelloggs Gary Pilnick outraged the general public beyond just the person interviewing him on TV. As it happens, people don't want cereal for dinner or want more nutrition than cereals typically offer. Other objections are that cereal isn't actually all that cheap anymore and that it is $7+ a box and that Kelloggs has raised and not lowered their prices during COVID up until today.

A protest page evoking Marie Antoinette's famous often attributed quote: "Let them eat cake!" has come into fruition and is preparing the groundwork for all of Kelloggs' products and brands to see a nationwide boycott or loss in sales, with Kelloggs products seeing a few stores lower the items to 99 cents each in a desperate bid to clear shelf space. It seemingly having an impact well ahead of schedule: which doesn't officially start until April. With some people vowing to make their own cereal at home using their own recipes before buying from Kelloggs.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nr1ONpA2VFo

Question is, do you intend to participate in this boycott if you already don't not buy their products? Kelloggs is allegedly so scared of this upcoming boycott that they've taken the Kelloggs logo off of boxes of Poptarts and made excuses about why when asked.

Another controversy is that Kelloggs has in recent years allegedly put woke propaganda marketed to children on their cereal boxes, and this has alienated a portion of all consumers out there as well.

https://edi.frootloops.ca/en/Home
A link to the diversity/equity/inclusion web portal that has caused controversy among conservatives.

Another example of Kelloggs having endorsed LGBT agenda recently in the past.

Do you intend to participate in this boycott? What are your experiences with boycotts in general? I'm not a regular consumer of Kelloggs or cereal in general anymore. But do however enjoy their other junk on occasion like Poptarts. This seems like a good enough cause, so I'm on board and have decided that I don't need the products more than the company wants to sell to me. It'll be interesting to see how far this goes?

Is cereal for dinner valid under any circumstances or absolutely absurd as most people feel?

This will achieve precisely nothing of note.

Nobody cares about boycotts anymore. Every recent politically-motivated boycott has failed because the other side buys the affected product to spite the unforgivable foe across the ideological no man's land, and the indifferent masses continue consuming unthinkingly. This state of affairs will likely continue until some great catastrophe upends everything, or maybe people finally stop wanting to hurt each other over shallow, stupid nonsense blown entirely out of proportion in order to perpetuate an inane culture war. The catastrophe is more likely.

The past ten or twelve years was a mistake; may our descendants forever remember this time with scorn and vitriol.

Thank you for bringing this to my attention. Kellogs has been promoting woke messages and pro LGBT politics in morning cereal for children? It’s completely unacceptable.

I will definitely be looking to boycott.

I'd join, but I don't eat corporate food in the first place. I just find some wild animal and kill it and eat it. Raw meat is not made by any company.

Nah, their product is shit and overpriced, people will look for a reason not to buy it. Also the age of the boomer is coming to a close, shit like Kellogg’s is a laughable relic of a bygone age.

Fair. I admit I leaned into the political side of the OP, and abandoned the more grounded aspects of the thing. I do tend to get carried away with my rants, but I'm just so tired.

I’m all for boycotts, but “woke agenda” is not a good reason. If we’d been talking about nestle, hell yer I’d support boycotting that company, but this whole “boycott the woke agenda” thing is pointless. This is gonna go down like the budlite situation.

I don't eat cereal anyways, so no, cereal for dinner is not even remotely close to valid for me. If I want something quick, I'll toast an English muffin and put margarine on it.
NS stats are not used.

I don't eat cereal regularly, my favorite cereals are not made by Kelloggs anyway, and I don't care about whatever the kerfuffle is.

Cereal is a subpar breakfast food anyways. Very little nutritional value, and a BUNCH of simple carbs and processed sugars, especially in the ones marketed towards children. Way better to buy fruit with that money.

Basically already boycotting as we don’t eat cereal. About the only thing it’s good for is when there is nothing else….
