I can’t just leave, because even if I leave I would still be associated with that region for as long as my nation exists

Yes, you can just leave. If it's really that big of a deal and someone questions you about it, you can tell them that you don't have anything to do with that region anymore.

So long as you show actual effort to distance yourself, most will not care. If I may, could you TG me details of what the region is and why you want to leave? I tend to be pretty well adept at these situations.

The surest way is to create a password-protected region with just you in it.

3. Dont tell anyone about the region
4. If anyone asks, you left that region because it was not a good one to be part of or be associated with

Agree with the others here. Just leave. The longer you stay there, the more of a chance you have of continuing to be associated with the region. If anyone asks, tell them you didn’t want anything to do with the region anymore.
