Grand Britanny wrote:This is an awesome anthem. I can see that it rhymes very well from the transliterations, and the translations give me a sense of the beautiful meaning of the poetry. It fits very well with the themes of Arzastan as an ancient but wartorn nation, and does a good job in promoting patriotic sentiment. I even feel kind of proud to be Arzenese! My favourite lines are "oh the reason of my tears, I wish you will be relieved" and "no matter if we worship Mithra or if we worship rivers". I also appreciate that there are three versions of the song, each in a different language while still retaining a similar meaning and keeping a rhyming pattern. I'm pretty sure they're all conlangs, which makes this even more impressive.
I will have to deduct at least one point for the lack of a melody, but that's it. 9/10.

Orcuo wrote:5/10; pretty average. I think it is fine, a little more like a patriotic war song than a national anthem, but who am I to judge? I wouldn’t use the F-bomb tho, kinda puts a tamper on the mode. A little too short as well, I feel like it could have been stretched out a bit more. But overall I like it.

Grand Britanny wrote:I quite like "Voyage of Destiny". First of all, it rhymes and roughly matches the rhythm of its melody, which is always a plus. I quite like the melody, and it seems fitting for a song composed in the near future. The lyrics are nice, and I like the recurring metaphor of maritime and astronomical voyages, but overall I feel like it is a bit generic. Like if you switch "Saelmstica" with any other futuristic space nation it would probably still work well as an anthem; it doesn't seem to refer to any particular part of Saelmstican history, culture, etc, save maybe some vague connections to oceans and space.
Each verse seems to say roughly the same thing, just mixing up the concepts of stars, seas, unity, and progress. It feels like what you'd get from ChatGPT if you asked it to "Write a national anthem for the Stellar Marine Commonwealth of Saelmstica, a futuristic spacefaring nation built on principles of harmony and progress."; that is, verbose buzzword slop with no real message or direction. I dunno. I just think I wouldn't be very patriotically proud after listening to this as a Saelmstican. Then again, maybe Saelmstica wants to move beyond national chauvinism in which case this song would be rather fitting.
Still, I'd recommend adding some more specific references in the anthem. I think the three big things that anthems usually reference in detail are 1. landscape/geography 2. history 3. religion. Maybe a 4th one could be politics and government too. I think you do already allude to some geographical and historical features in the lyrics, but ultimately, as I said, they are too generic to have any meaningful significance. And also the line "the torch pass to us" seems to be grammatically incorrect; I think it should be "the torches pass to us", "the torch passes to us", or "the torch passed to us". But, overall, this is a pretty good anthem, especially relative to other NS anthems, even though I spent a lot of words nitpicking it. I'd give it a 7 out of 10.
