IRENE VASILA ANNOUNCES THAT SHE WILL BE RUNNING FOR PREMIERSHIP Irene Vasila has announced in an interview with Advin Rouvel that she will be running for premiership in the 2024 elections from the ND party SHARE: 5th January 2024 | Arkloydis, Lysiennia "Democracy until Democracy hinders Freedom." — Former Prime Minister and Current Union Chancellor Irene Vasila ⁂ ARKLOYDIS, HDM HOUSE—The former prime minister, Irene Vasila has announced that she will be running for the position of Prime Minister in the 2024 General Elections instead of Melan Oscar. Mr Oscar has stated that—I have no intention of running for the Post of Premier and wish to retire from politics instead. This has shocked the opposition who claim that the now 77-year-old Irene may just 're-establish' her authoritarian rule as she did during the Emergency of 1980-1986. The National Deliberation's spokesperson, M. Georgia Besant has said that "[...] Mr. Oscar has not been forced to retire but he approached us saying that he wishes to 'return Madame's favor of letting him become the Premier'. It is out of Oscar's Loyalty that he is returning the seat to its rightful owner. And for those who speak of 'authoritarianism', Madame Irene has only done things which were 'urgent' and 'quite needed'. The Emergency too was an economic boon. Where most people will end up dead in gutters, the opposition was busy planning a Coup d'etat." Irene had previously decided to step down in the 2019 elections and nominated Melan Oscar as her successor, a member of the Lysiennian Parsi community, to please the Mittopian minority after the 2018 Protests. Based on various opinion polls, it appears that a significant majority of eligible voters—around 87%—will be voting in favor of Irene Vasila. The Liberal Party's new leader, Harwood Kennedy has stated that—I am glad that the nation has realised the worth of a great leader like Madame Vasila. While praising her he also announced that the Liberal Party will be forming an alliance with the National Deliberation for the upcoming Reichstag elections.
The Elections for the Position of Premier are to be held on the 11th of February with results being announced on the 13th. The Reichstag elections are also to occur from the 27th of February to the 29th of February with results being declared on the 1st of March. That being said, stay tuned for further updates. RESULTS OF 2024 CONGRESSIONAL RE-SORT
The chamber of the Regional Representatives, Congressional Hall
GEORGINE, CARYTON|| When Dr. Roger Stahlberg of the First United Holy Party was appointed as Leading Reverend, he exercised his one-time constitutional right to re-sort all three houses of the Carytonic Congress. Leading Rev. Stahlberg was appointed by the High Judiciary at the passing of Richard Hannis of the Liberal-Conservative Party. Richard Hannis in turn brought landmark changes to the Spiritual Republic of Caryton in a bid to make the state more palatable to eyes in Liudan which included a series of attempted economic reforms that never made it past the final stages of his short tenure. Reverend Stahlberg in all likelihood utilized this constitutional right to effectively veto any and all pending changes that the Hannis administration made, and begin the process of undoing the more controversial social changes he managed to establish.
The registered political parties in the Spiritual Republic of Caryton are such:1. The First United Holy Party (1P)
(the old guard of Dorothy Shirleyton's administration and creators of the Carytonic system)
2. The Second Holy Party (2P)
(broke off during the Ethel McCay administration who renounced isolationism and ISI economics)
3. The Liberal-Conservative Party (LC)
(desire to make Caryton into an urbanized democracy, albeit socially conservative)
4. Relief Party (R)
(proponents of christian agrarian collectivism formed in opposition to Hannis' incentivizing corporate farm growth)
5. Justice Party (J)
(broad-stroke liberal party who demand separation of church and state, urbanization, foreign intervention)
6. Ise Putao'u (IP)
(Carynesian nationalist/independence movement)
7. Partei für Heidelland (PH)
(Regional movement catering to German-speaking communities in the southwest.)
8. Communist Party of Caryton (CPC)
(not defacto socialist, a hodgepodge group of various dissidents who conspire to dismantle the state.)
The results of the 2024 Congressional re-sort are such:Citizen's Council (301):
1P: 74 seats (+6)
2P: 0 seats (-8)
LC: 25 seats (-11)
R: 2 seats (-3)
J: 8 seats (+5)
IP: 0 seats
PH: 1 seat (+1)
CPC: 0 seats
Unaffiliated: 191 (+11)
Regional Representatives (101):
1P: 61 seats (+7)
2P: 4 seats (+2)
LC: 22 seats (-19)
R: 1 seat (+1)
J: 2 seats (-2)
IP: 1 seat (-1)
PH: 6 seats (+6)
CPC: 0 seats
Unaffiliated: 4 seats (+2)
Ecclesiastical Council (51):
Unchangeable, this house is appointment-based.
Within the first few months of the Stahlberg Administration, the 1st United Holy Party has greatly succeeded in bringing a swift defeat to the remnants of Richard Hannis' party in the two houses that are allowed to be re-sorted. His short tenure combined with the unsurety brought about by his passing meant that in the sphere of public opinion, many Carytonic citizens trended towards the familiarity and time-tested policies of the Shirleytonite administrations of old. The reformist Second Party had lost all of its seats in the Citizens Council due to chance, but gained two vital seats in the Regional Representatives. The Relief Party underwent the same, trading nearly all of its Citizens' Council presence for one seat in the Representatives, the first time a Relief Party candidate will serve in the House. The Justice Party, due to recent collaboration in a coalition with both the Liberal Conservatives and the Communist Party of Caryton and allegations of misuse of campaign funds, has lost nearly all of its credibility. The Carynesian front remains static, but the Partei-fur-Heidelland celebrates a massive win in the polls thanks to a dedicated campaign, becoming the first regional movement to obtain a plurality of seats in the Representatives. They will likely be the deciding factor in the strength of the pro-system or anti-system coalitions to come in due time.
The reception of the re-sort has been amiable, with all eyes on next year's Citizen's Council re-sort to see if the establishment will lose the majority it gained in the game of chance.

STORIES FROM THE RANGER HOUSE | A CELEBRATION OF THE CARYTONIC CONSERVATION PROTECTION AGENCY
Pembridge River Gorge, in Abilene County
When one thinks of the majestic and bountiful rolling prairies of Caryton, or her rugged northern forests, lake-dotted western wetlands, or the arid desert grasslands of the southwest; the people who live there think lovingly of the Ranger Service. The Carytonic Conservation and Protection Agency exists with several bureaus that exist to attend the unique needs of Rural Caryton. These needs include protecting and studying wildlife, protecting parks and environmental beauty, law enforcement and emergency services, community outreach-education, border security, and national defense. Each of need has one or more bureaus dedicated to their mission to keep Caryton beautiful and safe.
One of the Mounted Response Units (MRUs) of the Ranger Service
Our story begins before even the establishment of the Carytonic state. In our homesteading era, families who lived far from each other needed a means of communication and law enforcement. Brave frontiersmen assembled together in volunteer "Horse Patrols" to deliver mail, guard cargo wagons, and rescue those trapped in the remote portions of the country. The Horse Patrols would continue their volunteer-based status long after being formally incorporated. They were a vital tie holding communities together. When the Altan State came to be, the duties of the Horse Patrol were effectively curtailed by the existence of the Frontiers Army. However, that institution frequently neglected its needs in favor of policing. And so, the Horse Patrols continued their work off-the-books. In fact, many of the vital allies of the revolutionaries of all anti-Altan fronts were members of the Horse Patrols. They often carried rebel mail, distributed secret weapons caches, and brought many wounded into hidden clinics in the deep wilderness they knew best. Some of those brave men and women faced brutal punishment from the Frontiers Army as well as the General Internal Police (secret police agency).
"We were scared every day we went out to go help. But those people needed it. We couldn't let them give up. If we didn't do something to stop them [Alta], who would?"
- Harold Tollman, Former Horse Patrolman, Ranger Service Major (Ret.)
Two members of the Horse Patrol, circa 1913.
The Ranger Service was officially established in the Spiritual Republic of Caryton on February 25, 1989. The Horse Patrols became centralized and both gained and lost responsibilities. For instance, the creation of an effective national postal service eased most of the logistical strain the early Rangers faced, allowing them to focus their attention on grander matters. The establishment of the Ranger Service also meant that these frontiersmen were tasked with protecting, not just traversing, the wilderness they called home. The Carytonic Conservation and Protection Agency was founded on June 1st, 1989 with subsequent bureaus to follow.
One of the first classes of graduated Rangers, circa April 1989.
Stories from the Ranger House is honored to give you these experiences.
Colonel Otto Winkler, 67 of Abraham, describes his time in the early Ranger Service.
"Well, it was a time for all of us to acclimate to our surroundings and get used to the new way of doing things. I like to say that when your surroundings are as beautiful as these, you can make any adjustment you like. It was intensive, some of the fresher recruits hadn't even known how to give CPR, let alone cope with military-style training. We had to teach them what we knew through experience. I had to learn quite a bit also, even the veterans of the old ways had to get behind new technical terms. As the years went on we got a tried and true method going, turning greens into efficient Rangers in only a few months' time."
Trooper 2nd Class Patty Higgins, 23 of Marley, describes her experience training as a flight nurse.
"Training has been life-changing. We learn fast-response emergency medicine and also how to rappel from helicopters to access patients in remote areas. We are even trained in parachuting and firearms in the event that our planes, and helicopters are required to air-evac hurt soldiers if we go to war. We actually work pretty closely with the Army, my many friends in the service love the joint training days. Balancing knowledge and practice in an event like this is stressful, but I say that this is the most fulfilling job for me."
Corporal Wright Brown, 24 of Bridgeson, describes his time in the Ranger Service.
"It's a whirlwind of a schedule that leaves you on your toes wanting more. One day you could be taking bedazzled tourists through secret groves or cleaning the paths, the next day you could be filling the public safety needs of a nearby community. There's units for every single interest, as long as you love the outdoors you'll love it here. My time on the field makes me feel like I actually get to contribute to society."
Trooper 1st Class Molly Holland, 22 of Georgine, describes her time in a Veterinary/Zoology Unit
"We dabble in a lot of fields like public education and awareness, animal control, inspecting zoos, and veterinary. My favorite part of it is when I go to schools and show the kids the animals we have. Their curiosity is why I'm passionate."
Auxiliary Rena Johansen, 55 of Acoda, describes her time as a staff member
"Even checking patrons into parks, managing communications in the office, or working the refreshment stands is fulfilling. Our time with the secretaries and other support members means that the Rangers can keep on serving us."
CCBC follows the day-in-the-life experiences of all those quoted above, showcasing beautiful parks all along the way. The credits then roll to pleasant music

CARYTON OFF TO WAR, FIGHTING WITH PEACE
Providence Army medics make camp in St. Johns
ST. JOHNS || The Spiritual Republic of Caryton has defied global expectations in entering the Moshavan conflict on the side of her ally, Artarum. No declaration of war against the state of Moshavah was issued. The Roger Stahlberg administration made a statement this morning which said that for the time being the Providence Army of Caryton will refrain from direct combat with the armed forces of the Shelef regime.
Carytonic participation in the conflict is based primarily on humanitarian and theological motives. The welfare and freedom of Moshavan Christians has been a priority for Georgine's diplomacy in the region for decades, and several unsuccessful attempts to secure and maintain the rights of those people are clearly on the minds of the Ministry of Defense. The sheer scale of the conflict- notably Artarumen bombings and the unmovable will of Ammon Shelef in continuing the fight- ensures the economic and human cost of the war will be harrowing. Therefore, the involvement of the Providence Army will absolve and relieve the burden of much of Liudan's logistical, medical, and economic strain.
The Providence Army of Caryton alone has promised some 10,000 combat medics, field surgeons, anesthesiologists, field nurses, and support staff. Many of the first wave have already landed and made camp. The Carytonic Ranger service has promised some-500 flight nurses trained in emergency care, fast-evac, and search and rescue, as well as an appropriate number of civilian-grade airplanes and helicopters- and auxiliary staff. The Providence Marines has promised a smaller number of combat evac teams for more specialized missions, and appropriate numbers of vehicles to support them, while The Providence Navy purely takes a logistical role in supporting the transport and security of men and goods. The air force will airlift humanitarian supplies, equipment, and other goods. All of these are under the command of the recently-created "St. Johns Medical Command Bureau", but only small units of combat medics will be integrated into Artarumen units for cohesion.
Carytonic army field hospitals will treat the wounded and infirm on both sides. Georgine has also petitioned the Aeternan Community to supervise the treatment of Moshavan POW's.
An unknown number of Carytonic civilians have made the journey to St. Johns as well- including Carytonic people already in the region. These include missionaries, teachers, humanitarian services, general physicians, surgeons, medical students, nurses, midwives, pharmacists, construction workers, translators, and people of nearly every profession. In a stark show of selflessness, they offer their services to the people of St. John, Moshavah, and Artarum for no pay. They establish civilian clinics, refugee camps, sunday schools so children can continue to learn safely, churches, and food distribution centers, where an expected monumental amount of Carytonic food and toiletries are bound.
Carytonic poster: "They're my children too."
Roger Stahlberg has declared that "any refugee [of this conflict] who seeks amnesty in the Spiritual Republic of Caryton shall be given it. Any Moshavan who believes in the Lord Jesus will be offered citizenship, and land for homestead." The move to encourage Moshavan defections comes as the conflict becomes untenable. The mass exodus of citizens to Yerushalayim combined with the "encouraged martyr" squads comprised of prisoners- leaves Georgine acting fast to save as many people as they possibly can.
"The [Shelef] regime is getting desperate," CCBC correspondent Marika Homer states. "Their airforce has been crippled by the second week of the conflict, and relentless Artarumen bombing has the Moledet Party [armed forces] resorting to penal battalions to conserve manpower. These penal battalions may comprise of Christians forced into certain death. Moreover, Shelef seems to be clinging on power to the very end- which means every civilian therein the country is at risk. [...] it is imperative that we act now."
"There are so many precious souls to save," said Hilda Anne of Georgine, who traveled to St. Johns to work at a refugee nursery. "I think of all the children- especially the little babes. The lack of food, the miscarriages. I believe that our government made the right choice."
The Gospel Church of Caryton has offered a donation of 26 million Cary Credits (~55 million USD) explicitly for the care of refugees and the re-building of a post-war Moshavah.
More to come later.
