2nd Kadulean Civil War

Postby Kadule » Wed Nov 29, 2017 5:44 pm

Thursday the 30th of November 2017:

At 1:42am, a single personnel truck tried to cross the Mountain Road 1 bridge over the Red River, heading from Provincia do Tsukende into Provincia do Mjumbi. Twenty trucks of a similar nature had been stopped at around 7am the previous day, trying to sneak workers into the province to start work panning for diamonds in the Great Gatosombra Lake under a national government plan.

Once again, now at about the truck was stopped by soldiers of the 2nd Legion of the King's Army, and the driver was asked for his papers, These were clearly not up to standard as the soldiers refuse to let the truck through the other side of the bridge. The soldiers and drivers argue for some time.

Then, at 2:03, the driver of the truck pulls out a handgun and shoots the soldier he is conversing with. As the other soldiers hasten for their weapons, snipers on the other side of the river shoot them. Soldiers in truck rumble out and swiftly secure the checkpoint, and trucks, tanks and soldiers of 3rd Division, 2nd Army Corps, 1st Army quickly advance to try take the bridge, accompanied by the 26 T-72 tanks of the 3rd Tank Division. 3rd Division consists of 10 000 men, and an entire brigade of 2 000 is sent in to try make the initial push and secure the bridge.

On the other side of the bridge the 9 000 men of the 2nd Legion of the King's Army are swiftly woken up and mobilised. They rush to hold the bridge and push back the attack, with the support of the 2nd Division of the King's Tank Force, 25 M60 Patton tanks. Large parts of the force were already on alert due to increasing tensions between the national government and the provincial government of Provincia do Mjumbi.

Soon a violent and bloody battle has erupted around the Mountain Road 1 bridge over the Red River, with neither side willing to give up this key strategic point. This battle is still going on now at 3:45am.

The flash point for this growing tension has sparked. The 2nd Kadulean Civil War has begun.

OOC:

1) Please keep this realistic.
2) Absolutely no nukes / devastating chemical weapons / Death Stars.
3) Trade embargoes, supplying weaponry, ammunition, military trainers and other supplies (either openly or through smuggling) are all acceptable.
4) If you want to try pull off an assassination, act of sabotage or invade the country TG about the matter first. I will review it and then either approve or decline it. The more reasonable and small scale the request the more likely I am to agree to it (killing a low level Minister or sneaking a force of 100 volunteer fighters into the nation is far more likely of being approved. Planning a full scale invasion with a million soldiers won't be approved).
5) Please keep all forces that are sent within the bounds of reason (no future tech, no super soldiers, not over powered unless I approve it).
6) I have the final say.

Thursday the 30th of November 2017:

Confusion reigned supreme in the early hours of this morning as various Provincial Governors, Military Officers and common soldiers found themselves suddenly thrown into an unexpected and sudden civil war. Soldiers loyal to the national PLPCK government tried rapidly to secure control of the commander of the 2nd Army, the Mjumbi General Zumbo Kontenga. The loyalty of the 2nd Army has always been in question, and so the move came as one to try secure control over his person.

Soldiers loyal to General Kontenga fought off these soldiers when they moved on his Porta Liberdade private home however around 4am. General Kontenga has since set about consolidating the 2nd Army, purging elements seen as more loyal to the PLPCK than to him. He did not purge elements seen as more loyal to the MGPK, and is reported to be meeting with these elements to plan as way forward.

The 2nd Army appears to be quite disunited in their approach to the way forward. In Porta Liberdade significant more Tsukende elements of the garrison fought openly with significant more Mjumbi elements, leading to street battles between soldiers in the same Divisions, and sometimes within the same Regiments and even Companies. Similar violent infighting erupted amongst the garrison of Shongwa and Mbulu.

On Ilha da Pedra the mostly Mixed Race soldiers of the local garrison (1st and 2nd Brigade, 4th Division, 1st Army Corps, 2nd Army) mostly turned on the small PLPCK element, swiftly purging it. The soldiers have also surrounded the Provincial Assembly and the Governor's Mansion, with the island controlled locally by the MGPK mostly only because the PL declined to run in the last election in protest over the banning of several other political parties. Negotiations between the local MGPK Provincial Government and dominantly PL aligned local garrison are underway, but it looks like this strategically located island will definitely not be under the control of the central PLPCK government. With each Brigade consisting of about 2 000 men each, after the purges it is estimated that some 3 800 mostly Mixed Race soldiers have seized control and effetely control the island.

On Ilha do Amanhecer violence broke out in the provincial capital of Palmeiras, with PLPCK aligned Tsukende soldiers and MGPK aligned Mjumbi soldiers engaging in a bloody conflict in the city streets. The higher Tsukende population, especially in the city, gave the edge to the PLPCK however, and their aligned soldiers have secured the local Provincial Assembly and Governor's Mansion, both of which were narrowly held in the last election by the PLPCK. In the countryside of the island however, the dominantly Mjumbi MGPK are in open revolt however, and the dominantly Mjumbi MGPK 5th Brigade (4th Division, 1st Army Corps, 2nd Army) purged its few Tsukende PLPCK aligned soldiers and expressed its loyalty to the Mjumbi King. The force of some 2 000 men may even try march on its own provincial capital and try take it, or it may simply hold the countryside.

A vicious battle has broken out by the Mountain Road 2 Bridge over the Khoma River between the dominantly Mjumbi MGPK 3rd Division (2nd Army Corps, 2nd Army) and the dominantly Tsukende PLPCK 2nd, 3rd and 4th Brigade of the 4th Division (2nd Army Corps, 1st Army) and the 4th Tank Division of the Kadulean Tank Force. This sees about 10 000 mostly Mjumbi soldiers on the south side of the bridge, fighting about 6 000 mostly Tsukende soldiers backed by 26 T-72 Tanks on the north side of the bridge.

Even now, the violent battle at Mountain Road 1 bridge over the Red River is ongoing, with the 10 000 mostly Tsukende men of the 3rd Division, 2nd Army Corps, 1st Army and 26 T-72 tanks of the 3rd Tank Division (Kadule Tank Force) still fighting over the gorge and bridge against the 9 000 mostly Mjumbi men of the 2nd Legion of the King's Army and the 25 M60 Patton tanks of the 2nd Division of the King's Tank Force.

3:00pm - Thursday the 30th of November 2017:

Presidente Kanganisa Zulgwona has given a national address on Kadule News Network. The President called for national unity and for "those forces taking up arms against the democratically elected to immediately lay down their arms or face utter destruction as enemies of the state". Presidente Kanganisa Zulgwona has also announced that he has granted himself "Emergency Executive Powers" to ensure "stability and public order". He demanded that all those who have rebelled against the central government must call off all forces and surrender by the end of today, and must turn themselves over to police to be transported to Mabetshwa to face trial.

Just moments after this announcement, massive protests broke out in the capital of Mabetshwa, with protesters in the slums of Mabetshwa sympathetic to the RCPK blockading streets and attacking police officers. Military forces and tanks have been sent in to put down the insurrection, and soldiers are being shot at and having stones thrown at them by protesters. Segments of the Mjumbi minority within the capital have also risen up, with many of them backing the MGPK. This group blockaded streets in mostly Mjumbi districts and ransacked Tsukende shops. Police and soldiers have been despatched to put down this insurrection.

From an unknown hiding place somewhere in Kadule, Tina Shashihojaka called for her supporters to avoid inflicting harm on other people as far as possible, but instead called for them to "make the nation ungovernable until this dictatorial rule is overturned and true democracy is established". She called for supporters to boycott work, to cut telephone wires and to sabotage arms manufacturing factories, as well as to sabotage roads to slow the movement of military forces. Many University students back her and her movement, and massive student protests have broken out across Kadule.

In self imposed exile in Lisbon, Portugal, Anibal Jengojuzi condemned the government's move and called on supporters to boycott work until democracy was restored. He called for all sides to down weapons and enter peace negotiations. He has yet to comment on dominantly PL aligned Mixed-Race soldiers in Ilha da Pedra effectively taking military control of the island.

OOC: You can try smuggle weaponry, ammunition, food and military advisors in to the group, but I'd rather keep personal control over the actual activities of the factions.

Thursday the 30th of November 2017:

A violent battle has been underway since about 4am this morning on the National Roadway Bridge over the Red River. The mostly Mjumbi MGPK soldiers if the 3rd Division (1st Army Corps, 2nd Army - about 10 000 men) are fighting back against the mostly Tsukende PLPCK soldiers of the 2nd Division (2nd Army Corps, 1st Army - about 10 000 men). This came after soldiers with the 2nd Division (2nd Army Corps, 1st Army) attempted to cross the bridge and seize control of it, stating they were operating under national orders. The soldiers on the other side of the bridge refused to give them clearance and were accused of being traitors, before being fired upon.

The Tsukende soldiers on the north side of the bridge have the advantage of being supported by the 26 T-72 Tanks of the 2nd Division of the Kadule Tank Force. Even with this advantage however, fighting has been fierce, and the Mjumbi soldiers on the south of the bridge have the advantage of defending the bridge rather than having to try advance across it into enemy fire.

8:15pm - Thursday the 30th of November 2017:

Commander of the 2nd Army General Zumbo Kontenga has appeared in a press conference broadcast on a local television station out of Porta Liberdade. The General condemned the decision by Presidente Kanganisa Zulgwona to grant himself emergency executive powers, and further condemned the attack on soldiers of both the 2nd Army and the King's Army by the 1st Army. As such, General Zumbo Kontenga called on all loyal servicemen, not just of the 2nd Army but within all the armed forces, to stand together and demand that Presidente Kanganisa Zulgwona call for an immediate ceasefire, before resigning and handing himself over into police custody for "undermining the constitution of the Republic of Kadule".

Large numbers of the 1st Division (1st Army Corps, 2nd Army) have been deployed from Porta Liberdade and sent to the National Roadway Bridge over the Red River, where a battle has been raging since 4am this morning between the 3rd Division of the 1st Army Corps, 2nd Army and the 2nd Division of the 2nd Army Corps, 1st Army. Presidente Kanganisa Zulgwona had already redeployed 2 brigades of the Ombetshwa Division (1st Division, 2nd Army Corps, 1st Army) to the bridge to reinforce the 1st Army forces there, despatching another 2 brigades to reinforce the 1st army at the Mountain Road 1 Bridge over the Red River were the first shot of this war was fired, and where the battle is still raging.

King Zakhambi VI has also condemned Presidente Kanganisa Zulgwona and demanded he resign immediately. He has since dispatched the 1st Legion of the King's Army to reinforce the 2nd Legion. He has also called up the 4th, 5th and 6th Legions (the 3 reserve Legions of the King's Army) and is rapidly arming the force and preparing them for deployment.

Presidente Kanganisa Zulgwona has called General Zumbo Kontenga a "traitor to the Republic", and has called King Zakhambi VI "one of the last cockroaches of Monarchist Mjumbi privilege standing in the way of true equality". He has placed a bounty of 20 million Estrelas for anyone who kills either of them. Presidente Kanganisa Zulgwona has also mobilised the 3rd Army, a reserve army generally seen as loyal to him, and is setting about arming them and readying them for deployment.

General Zumbo Kontenga reponed to this by calling on the reserve 4th Army to mobilise, and to stand against "the tyrannical rule of Presidente Kanganisa Zulgwona".

These mobilisations mean that the scale of soldiers may essentially double, provided all that are called on to mobilise respond to the call.

8:28pm - Thursday the 30th of November 2017:

Guerrilla fighters with the Zamoharu have attacked a temporary company military base of the 1st Army, which had been set up to oversee the military escort of farmworkers to ensure they went to work. The guerrilla fighters, apparently with their numbers bolstered by local angry farmworkers, snuck up quite close to the camp over the day before making an all out assault. The group released video imagery taken at the camp of them seizing military weaponry and executing the company captain and several other soldiers. The death toll is unknown but it is predicted that the 100 man company was virtually wiped out.

9:00pm - Thursday the 30th of November 2017:

A large group of protesting students, including those affiliated with Esquerda Unida and Partido Liberal have torn down national flags at the Universidade de Mabetshwa and have blockading campus building entrances and the streets, with the protests spilling out into neighbouring streets were they have set up blockades and have burnt tires. Students are demanding an immediate ceasefire and the resignation of Presidente Kanganisa Zulgwona, and have vowed to bring daily business in the capital to a standstill until these demands are met. Police, soldiers and paramilitary Tsukende militia have been seen heading in the direction of the university campus, along with police vehicles mounted with water cannons and a single T-72 tank.

Student protesters at the Universidade de Ombetshwa have engaged in similar activity, with police and soldiers seen heading in the direction of this campus as well.

Meanwhile, soldiers and police continue their attempt to suppress insurrection in the slums of Mabetshwa. 279 protesters have been arrested and reports state that at least 50 have been killed. At least 3 soldiers and 9 police have been killed in the slums, either from being shot, stabbed or beaten to death. 10:00pm - Thursday the 30th of November 2017:

Student protests at both the Universidade de Mabetshwa and the Universidade de Ombetshwa have been brutally crushed, with 87 students and 21 students arrested respectfully, and it reported that 4 students were killed at Universidade de Mabetshwa, and 1 at Universidade de Ombetshwa. Student protesters scattered, but went on to hurl rocks at police from various buildings.

2:48am - Friday the 1st of December 2017:

A young policeman has been found stabbed to death in a street a short way outside Universidade de Mabetshwa. The words "Sic temper tyrannies" were found written in his blood in a wall by his body. Police have opened an investigation into the matter, and have stated that anyone found to have been involved in the killing will be hung. Anyone who knows about the killing has been told to come forward about it. Anyone who does know about the killing and doesn't come forward about it has been threatened with the death penalty for being involved in "conspiring in the murder of a police officer".

1:50pm - Friday the 1st of December 2017:

The Kadulean Navy has been despatched to put down the uprising in Ilha da Pedra, and to support Tsukende PLPCK fighting for control of Palmeiras and the island province of Ilha do Amanhecer it is on.

Their Kirov-class battlecruiser and flagship of the small two ship navy, the NRK Betshwa Galandi, has blockaded the port of Porto de Pedra, the Provincial capital and home to about 70% of the small island's population. The battlecruiser opened fire on military and political targets in the provincial capital after a final ultimatum to surrender was rejected by Brigadier General Rodrigo Carpinteiro and Brigadier General Miguel Sal, who essentially control the island now.

Meanwhile the Udaloy I class destroyer, the NRK Vukine Zulgwona, accompanied ships transporting two brigades of soldiers from the Mabetshwa Army Corps (1st Army) to help secure a victory in Palmeiras. The battle there is already going very much in the favour of the PLPCK, with a number of Mjumbi MGPK aligned soldiers fleeing the city to join with the 5th Brigade (4th Division, 1st Army Corps, 2nd Army), the mostly Mjumbi Brigade that has declared loyalty towards the MGPK and occupies the more sparsely populated rural countryside of Ilha do Amanhecer.

2:30pm - 1st of December 2017

Zumbo Dhuhebopanga - special advisor to the King, Senate Opposition Leader Martinho Morokenja and Governor of Província da Liberdade Afonso Beromanda have appeared in a press conference with Adriano Napoles, the leader of the white separatist Partido Patriótico de Napolesia (PPN) and Sebestino Barros, the leader of the Partido da Herança (PH). The conference was broadcast (technically illegally) on a local news network in Província da Liberdade.

In the press conference it was announced that a deal had been made to create a new semi-independent Province in northern rural area of Província da Liberdade, with the oddly shaped province to incorporate many dominantly white rural towns and white farms and to be named Província dos Vinhedos. If the war can be concluded on favourable terms for the MGPK, PPN and PH then this would ensure that the Província dos Vinhedos becomes a permanent province, with its own Provincial Assembly and Governor.

The oddly shaped Province doesn't include the Estrada Nacional bridge over the Red River were a battle has erupted, but its territory does come very close to this and does trace along much of the Red River downriver from the bridge along towards the sea.

In return for this plan, the PPN and the PH have called on their supporters, mostly conservative white farmers, to take up arms, form patriotic militia and join the battle at the Estrada Nacional bridge over the Red River against the forces of the 1st Army. While these militia are unlikely to be large in numbers, they could add numbers nonetheless to help prevent the forces being overwhelmed by the PLPCK forces, who are backed by 26 T-72 tanks.

3:03pm - Friday the 1st of December 2017:

Universities across Kadule have closed today in accordance with schedules, with the last exams of the year that were set for today cancelled given the Civil War. This was particularly the case at the Universidade de Mabetshwa and the Universidade de Ombetshwa following the death of several students in violent protests and the damage of several buildings on university campuses, both from student protests and the subsequent police and military crackdown.

Students have been told to return home. Many male students, reservists who have already served their two years compulsory military service, have been ordered to report for duty. Many have done so, but many more have refused and there are reports that many have fled home to avoid being forced to do so. The chaos across the country has helped many evade capture. Many students, particularly female students, have snuck into the slums of Mabetshwa and the slums of Ombetshwa respectively, joining protests against the PLPCK.

Protests are not only hurting the PLPCK however. Protesters affiliated with the RCPK and EU in particular have barricaded areas in the poorer parts of Porta Liberdade, Shongwa and Mbulu in particular, all of which the MGPK dominate.

Both parties are protesting that the bans against them were backed by the MGPK, and are demanding that the MGPK support unbanning them.

The RCPK are also putting forward a campaign for the creation of a "Revolutionary African Communist state", calling for "the emancipation of the African Proletariat". Things have become even more messy and chaotic when some RCPK protesters clashed with EU protesters in Porta Liberdade. The EU are demanding being unbanned, are demanding better working conditions and wages for workers, but are also demanding the overturning of homophobic policies and restrictions, championing LGBTQIA rights. The far more socially conservative RCPK protesters, who are part of a party that once called for the death penalty for homosexuals, have fought violently with those the call the "faggots, dykes and pedophiles of the EU". EU protesters have responded by fighting back against the "homophobic bigots of the RCPK".

At least 3 EU protesters have been murdered by RCPK protesters in Porta Liberdade. One RCPK protester was killed by being bludgeoned to death in retaliation by a group of female EU members.

The majority of the population and politicians in the Republic of Zaxumadi have expresses their active support for the EU and the PL, calling for all sides to declare a ceasefire, lay down there arms and enter into peace negotiations. They have also offered to host a peace conference in the Zaxumadian capital of Xixoxana, to which all factions involved have been invited to send representatives.

The Republic of Zaxumadi is also offering political asylum to those fleeing from Kadule, regardless of whether it is to escape military conscription, to escape homophobic violence, to escape political persecution or to generally escape the war zone many parts of the nation are rapidly becoming. Due to the hostile relationship between the government of Zaxumadi and the government of Kadule however, Zaxumadian ships are not allowed in their waters and Zaxumadian planes are not allowed in their skies, meaning that Kadulean's would need to escape to another nation first before fleeing to Zaxumadi to gain asylum.

The breakdown of support for various factions by the 100 MPs of the Asamblea Nacional is as follows:

The 54 MPs of the MILI,
the 17 MPs of the PL,
the 4 MPs of the PPS and
the 2 MPs of the PM
all expressed their support for the EU and the PL.

The 17 MPs of the FPN backed the MGPK.

The 5 MPs of MAIZ backed the RCPK.

The lone MP of the PPGL, MP Marcos Carretero, backed the PPN and PH.

Seeing the conflict going on the Atkemrian government has expressed support towards the MGPK and have begun dropping ammo and other essentials in MGPK controlled land. No comment has been made if actual men would be sent in and also promises to help rebuild the country after.

The Democratic Republic of Veleth will take no part in another sovereign country's civil war, but will actively communicate with all available factions in order to bring peace and order.

9:35pm - Friday the 1st of December 2017:

All 28 McDonnell Douglas F-15 Eagle fighter jets in the King's Airforce, the full punching power of their airforce, took off from the King's Airforce in Cambazumbo and have flown directly to the Mountain Road 1 Bridge over the Red River, where the conflict started and where fighting still remains in a fierce stalemate.

The jets focused fire on enemy soldiers close to the bridge, but also fired missiles at the bridge itself. Mjumbi forces swiftly advanced on the bridge with their air support advantage, but appeared to avoid crossing it.

1 of the McDonnell Douglas F-15 Eagle fighter jets was shot down in the fire fight and was seen going down in a large explosion on the mountainside on the Provincia do Tsukende side of the border. It is unknown if the pilot was able to escape. The remaining 27 McDonnell Douglas F-15 Eagle fighter jets retreated shortly after, as the government sent in all 34 of their Su-30MKI fighter jets.

The King's Airforce clearly did not aim to enter the battle for an extended time, but simply to grant them a short advantage. The purpose of this advantage was soon revealed, as Mjumbi soldiers were able to use their brief benefit of air support to use a large amount of explosives to blow up the supporting columns of the bridge, causing it to collapse down the relatively shallow gorge onto the Red River itself. While this won't prevent Tsukende forces from crossing, it will make it much harder for their tanks and other vehicles to get over. The tanks should still be more than capable of getting over the rough terrain, but it will undoubtably slow their progress, and leave them far more exposed.

After two of the Su-30MKI fighter jets were damaged by ground fire, the governments airforce also retreated, clearly not intending to get into a fight with ground forces, but rather looking for a dogfight with the enemy airforce.

Even though they have lost a fighter jet, the Mjumbi forces appear to have won a strategic victory by blowing up this bridge, making it easier for them to take up a defensive position here.

Joint Message From The Department Of Foreign Affairs And The Department Of Defense

Appalled by the instability of the government and the fighting factions within the nation,The Government Of Joaquin States wants to offer asylum to all citizens of the fallen state. Since we have no formal relations with this nation, our airlines and cruise lines have access to their waters and skies.Asylum seekers have 2 options after arriving to Joaquin States. The first option is to stay in Joaquin States, where you would be eligible to sign up for the Asylum Seeker Program and reside in Joaquin States. The second option is to leave after arriving to Joaquin States, which is the seekers choice. In conclusion, our nation is disappointed by the lack of care towards the populace and we hope to help the asylum seekers.

Saturday the 2nd of December 2017:

The National Government in the north and the Mjumbi separatist government in the south have both set strict limitations on who will be allowed to leave the territory, keeping all men of military service age in the nation. Employees actively employed in work deemed "vital to national security". As such only unemployed women, children and older men, as well as those employed in non-existential jobs like tourism (who are not men of military age) will be allowed to leave the country.

I will also attempt to make the RCPK at peace with the PLPCK by opening diplomatic channels between the two to create a united communist front against the Capitalists.
I will also send a force of 100 soldiers ,weaponry, and supplies to help the RCPK in there gorilla war in favor of communism.

Out of character RP note: If you disapprove just tell me and I will delete both posts immediately.

Can anyone explain the MGPK party again? I'm having trouble figuring out if its the monarchy or the general in the picture above.

Upon hearing about the Civil War in Kadule, the Suojian Ministry of Defence and Ministry of Foreign Relations have released an official statement:

“Suoji is going to war. A civil war has recently broken out in Kadule. Our glorious military might will aid the MGPK, a party that follows the same ideology as our nation. We will begin by sending a small force of 300 soldiers to the country. Thank you.”
