Sheriff Joe Arpaio to face criminal charges.

It's somewhat relevant to this thread, as Sheriff Joe faces election next month, and has campaigned with Trump.

Perhaps this is a big enough story in its own right, to deserve a new thread. On the other hand, there's no new information about what the Sheriff did wrong, only the announcement he'll be prosecuted. Debate would likely be a repetition of previous Sheriff Joe threads. Worth a thread, or not?

'Course, this could be the tipping point that causes the GOP to bottom out and start cleaning house in a return to sanity, especially if Trump's endless bloviating drags down the down-ticket races enough to potentially cost them the House and/or Senate. With not even a month to go, Republicans scrambling to distance themselves from Trump may be a case of too little, way too late.

Does he live in Bizarro World? Trump was the one stalking about, coming up behind Hillary and slouching like a two-bit thug. The level of cognitive dissonance on display here is truly scary.

... But not, on reflection, in any way actually surprising. This is par for the course for Trump.

Galloism's paraphrase isn't really accurate.

"I never walked near her," he said. "I was at my lectern and all of a sudden she walks over to me, stands right in front of me and the next day I read that I was in her space."

Some commentators have described Trump as getting in Clinton's personal space. Basically I think they're trying to portray Trump's bad body language (and it was bad) as Trump's Rick Lazio moment. But it didn't actually happen this time. Trump prowled around, and was restless in a way which did look physically aggressive. When he chose to move, while Clinton was speaking, it was always in the direction to stand behind her. Probably just trying to stay in shot actually, but it looks terrible. What he didn't do was invade her personal space, unless you count a handshake at the end.

So Trump is actually right. She approached him more closely, when she went to his side of the stage to answer a question from there, than he did to her at any time. It still wasn't into his personal space (by the reasonable definition 'within arm's reach'), and having a reason (to answer the audience member from as close as Trump had) it would be foolish to describe it as "invading" his space.

Trump didn't. Galloism did.

no, she was invading his space. she kept walking over to the questioner and sometimes that person was on trump side of the stage. trump didn't know how to get out of the way so he wouldn't look like a crazy stalker. poor thing.

I've been critical of Assange ever since he first put information out that endangered lives. It's why I view Snowden in higher regard. The first leaks over Iraq where Assange refused to censor names was a major criticism, even by people working with him. Finally, with WikiLeaks only receiving leaked information from one side, any baboon with a brain would and should probably be hesitant given the implied motives of those leaks.
