Modern Nationstates: World War-1939 is the first of six eras that will be explored in the new Modern Nationstates Saga of Threads, each era will have to come to a close before the next era is released and ready to play. Each are based on the eras following history, and there are plans for a Cold War, A War on Terror, the Contemporary Era, World War III like era, and a Future Era. (This saga is based on my original NS World War and Cold War Threads)

The Liberty-Class Aircraft Carrier DRS Dresden was sailing outside the capitol city of Nordipolica. General Newman was on the deck overlooking the Pacific. The President was their with him. Secret Services were trailing around the deck, patrolling as usual. The President placed his hand on his friend's shoulder. "Sam," he started. "the world is vast and unfortunately it will soon be at war. The formation of the alliances as solidified that." He paused before continuing "It is only a matter of time. To protect our interests and that of our allies, I'll recommend to our allies that you be promoted to Supreme Allied Commander." He paused again. General Newman was still looking out into the sea, not reacting to the news. "I'll just let that sink in." The President said before walking away. General Newman continued his sightseeing. "War, the damned thing." He said taking in a breath of air. "Can't get rid of it, but hell if I let it stay." The DRS President, a small tug boat pulled away from the Dresden taking the President back to shore. General Newman nodded to the a crew man. "Tell the Admiral to assemble Home Fleet." The skinny kid of about 18 or 19 replied with "Yes, sir!" before scurrying of to the bridge.

War was on its way.

[Gorgraq Consociation]

The Gorgraq Consociation was mobilising for war, it's neibouring nation to the south, Iran had large oil feilds. Though self-sufficient, The Gorgraqs saw an easy target with a high reward. The unaware government of Iran blissfully went about their buissness, completely oblivious to the storm that was brewing.

They had recently stopped trading with The Gorgraq Consociation due to the rise in global tensions due to the formation of the 5 great alliances and its efforts to stay out of war. These efforts were to be in vein. Unannounced 5,000 aircraft (2500 Zero fighters and 2500 VAL dive bombers) would attack and devastate the Iranian naval base in the Caspian Sea.

The Gorgraq Navy would finish off what's left while The Gorgraq Airforce would completely crush Iran's primative one through the destruction of airbases and the decimation of enemy fighters by the remaineder of the airforce that was not attacking the enemies navy. After signing a treaty with Turkmenistan that allowed The Gorgraq Consociation to move troops, vehicles and equipment through it this allowed 600,000 troops would stream across the border in to Iran once aerial superiority had been achieved. They would be supported be 5000 KV-1 heavy tanks and 6,000 artillery guns and 2000 Val dive bombers and Heinkel 111 bomber aircraft.

After the complete destruction of Iran's navy and airforce had been achieved a task force of 50,000 soldiers reinforced by 100,000 more would land in the north of the country on the Caspian Sea coast with 500 tanks to surge towards Tehran and capture it. While the rest of the troops would capture the south with the use of Blitzkreig movements.

[Empesth]

President Vladimir Aliyev of the Federal Republic had warned Gorgraq Consociation about attacking Iran. President also noted that this offensive move would heavily damage the relations between Empesth and Gorgraq Consociation. Borders between the two countries have been closed. In response to Gorgraq's mobilisation department of war had ordered construction of 1,500 T-34 tanks and 100 Yak-1 fighters along with slight Anti-Aircraft deployment to the border.

The war ministry offered T-28s to the Republic of Layfet and other countries as well. Empesth is seeking to establish good diplomatic relations with it's neighbours. President Vladimir Aliyev was also delighted to know that most of Empesth's European borders are now safe since Wiepolskie and Scandinavia are part of the Democratic Association. The Federal Republic of Empesth wanted to be friendly to it's allies but also wanted to be the dominant force in the Democratic Association. To ensure dominance over Mediterranean Sea and the Baltic Sea two heavy cruisers, five destroyers and four submarines had been ordered by the navy.

Dear Mr. President,

The Layfetian Department of the Army is willing to begin trade negotiations in buying at least 1,200 T-28s. We will pay at least $Z 10,000 for each. We hope this will bolster relations between our two great nations and bring the Republic Front as well as the Democratic Association closer in international interests, however let me be frank that the Democratic Republic of Layfet is not in a position to sanction the Gorgraq Consociation and will not make any attempt to do so.

The Battle of the Valleys, North Iran, July 1939

After the naval and air forces of Iran began to crumble, many local citizens were forced to bare arms. While not sufficient enough to stop the Gorgraq offense, they could slow them down. 17,000 citizens and army personal marched out to the long valleys that the Gorgraq Army would have to face off against, they would hide and fortify the valleys. and hold off the invasion. Due to the valley's nature, the Air Force of Gorgraq would have a hard time picking off the army below. Before reaching Tehran, they would have to go through the valley. The Nation's army was scrambling to get up to battle speed.

The Iranian Navy was in ruins, 100% loss, many sailors still stuck on overturned boats surrendering to the Gorgraq. Other disabled boats, with still working weapons systems continued to fire upon the enemy. It was a graveyard of ships.

[Gorgraq Consociation]

As the invasion of Iran was under way, Strartz Gorishna was alarmed to find his northern border was undefended. The large nation of Empesth lay to its north, there were many reports of mobilisation and defences being placed on the border. Strartz Gorishna did not want a war with Empesth while occupied with Iran, Empesth was part of The Democratic association this meant that it could many other nations to its aid.

If in the case of an invasion The Supreme Leader ordered the construction of defences on the border. He ordered the construction of trench lines, pillboxes and mine feilds all across the border with Empesth. He would use this program to create more jobs by employing jobless and homeless citizens to help build the defences. Captured prisoners of war would also help build the defences but would not get paid for their labour.

Aswell as defences, troops had also been stationed near the border and more airfeilds were under construction. The Gorgraq Consociation had no quarrel or reason to war with Empesth, the measures were nothing but defensive. The only time The Gorgraq Consociation would go to war with Empesth would be if it attacked or declared war upon The Gorgraq Consociation.

A huge air assault to finally crush Iranian airforce above the skies of Tehran had been unleashed by The Gorgraq Consociation. 7,000 Zero fighters, 2500 Val dive bombers and 1,500 Heinkel 111 bombers would completely destroy any remnants of the Iranian airforce. The remainder of the airforce were also attacking the enemy, 2500 Val dive bombers destroyed the remainder of The Iranian navy, the well trained pilots precisely picked of enemy sailors that still fired upon the Gorgraq navy who themselves were raining a salvo of rounds upon the harbour.

In the valleys of northern Iran 50,000 soldiers had landed in there with 500 KV-1 heavy tanks with orders to surge southwards and take Tehran and so that the 600,000 soldiers and 5000 tanks could capture the south. As they marched through the valley they became uneasy due to the lack of resistance, as they got furthering to the valley this changed. When they least expected it a snipers bullet ripped through the head of an army private spraying his comrades in the face with brains and blood. As machine guns and rifles opened fire on the exposed troops they were forced to withdraw while the tanks stayed and opened fire on the enemy with theirs 76mm guns.

The tanks withdrew so that an artillery bombardment of high explosive, shrapnel and gas shells could clear out the enemy, as well as this 2500 Heinkel bombers would bomb the valley with more gas bombs to completely flush out the enemy. After both bombardments had finished and the troops had been reinforced with 100,000 more that had just landed the continued on back into the valley. Well armed and trained storm troopers lead the way supported by tanks and artillery, as they cleared out the caves and tunnels with flame throwers and grenades.

Meanwhile 600,000 troops and 5000 tanks of the eastern flank had captured the cities of Mashhad, Gorgān, Yadz, Kermān and Bandar Abbās with the use of blitzkreig tactics. It had now begun its attack on The City of Shiraz in its lightning campaign to capture the south and push towards the Iraqi border to capture Tabrīz and after that to head northwards and encircle Tehran.

Vladimir Aliyev was delighted to know that Layfet had ordered for T-28 Tanks and accepted the order, as he needed to move T-28 tanks to make way for the new era of tanks currently being planned for 1939 - 45, also defences at the Gorgraq Consociation - Empesth border had been increased due to Gorgraq deploying soldiers. The airspace is being patrolled by Yak-1s and other scout planes.

President Vladimir Aliyev noted that "Empesth has no reason to go war with Gorgraq Consociation, and it won't unless provoked, threatened or attacked. Empesth is just trying to defending itself, but the attacks against Iran are just wrong". President Vladimir Aliyev also called other nations across the globe to stand up against Gorgraq Consociation's moves in Iran. After long thinking he decided to support Iran with food and ammunition supplies.

President Vladimir Aliyev also requested for military access permission from the leaders of Wiepolskie and New Vexia, so that Empesth could deploy soldiers into it's neighbours and allies to keep them safe.

Empesth will be supporting Iran with the following;

• 50 T-28 medium tanks.
• 500 PPD-40 Submachine Guns along with ammunition.
• 20 Polikarpov I-16 Fighters
• Other food supplies

The Battle was in its waning hours, The remainder of the Iranian Navy however was prepping for a final stand, Anti-aircraft guns continued to defend against the fighters and bombers. Eventually however they surrendered when shells were exploded in the port. The sailors then layer down their arms awaited whatever the enemy was throwing at them.

While the skies were being cleared of both Irainian and Gorgraqian planes, Anti-air placements were being set up across the city, which would force the Gorgraq Air Force to back down. Everyone in the city, men, women, and children where scrambling to get the anti-air placements into position, as well as fortifying the edges with artillery to prevent the Gorgraq Army from blitzkreging the city. on the Western reaches of Iran, all of Iran's new military equipment form Empesth was on its way, which would force the war into a stalemate. It was well on its way.

As most the Gograq army was blitzkreging the nation, several thousand Iranian troops would hide in caves away from the gas, The Gorgraq would have to flush all of them out, one by one, slowing the march southward, If not then the Iranian troops would have it easy picking at the enemy from all sorts of locations. As mentioned before, the valley was sheltered enough that bombings and artillery couldn't blast its way into all Iranian positions. Iranian units also dropped boulders down the valleys, preventing tanks to move forward, making the enemy have to go on foot without the protection of the tanks. Nearly 3,000 Iranian troops had died, but that wouldn't sway them.

Captain Saani ibn Fizi al-Salii of the 317th had started been dropping boulders into the valley all morning, slowing down the enemy's tanks and soldiers, probably killing a few in the process. He had told his platoons to keep going down the valley in advance to drop more boulders. "These Gorgraqs are relentless." he said in Arabic to his lieutenant, Ha'an al-Am. "Well sir, I have an idea that might slow the attack further!" He said "Go ahead, what is it?" "Well, they do have to go into the caves and route us out, we know the alternate was out, the enemy could be lost in there for days even weeks if we close the opening behind them." He answered. "What a wonderful idea, grab a radio and relay that to Brigade, I'll tell the platoons to start doing that. Also watch out for Gorgraqs, they are going to enter this valley at any moment."

It has come to our attention that your war of aggressiveness upon the Republic of Iran is most ill-tempered and hostile toward world peace. Therefore it is in the interests of the Democratic Republic of Layfet that we impose economic sanctions upon the Gorgraq Consociation. While there is not much trade between our economies, and this will hurt us more then it will hurt you, it is a final decision. No more is to be said in the matter.

Soon the northern coasts and borders of Iran would under Gorgraq domination. 50,000 troops of the 150,000 strong Gorgraq Northern spear head setup trenches and defenses at the base of the valley, if the Persian army tried to counter attack and leave the refuge of The valley to recapture Rasht they would be cut down by machine gun fire.

The Gorgraq Eastern Spearhead had captured the southeast of Iran and had secured its oil feilds which were being syphoned off to The Gorgraq Consociation, this hindered Iranian production and its economy. After capturing the City of Esfahan they then set their sights on Qom. The plan was that the northern spearhead would capture Tabrīz and then swing south to attack Qom from the north as The Eastern spearhead attacked from the south, this would allow The Gorgraq Consociation to then link up their two armies and encircle Tehran.

In the west The Northern Gorgraq Spearhead made contact with Iranian forces outside of Tabrīz, they were supported by 50 T28 tanks. However the 500 tanks of the Northern spearhead quickly over whelmed them, with air support they had destroyed the 50 tanks and had pushed the Iranian forces back to the city of Tabrīz. They then began an assault on the city to then capture it.

The Iranian Navy and any remaining ships and sailors raised the white flag and surrendered to the Gorgraq, 32 ships had been sunk, over half the Iranian Navy. It was a devastating loss for Iran, which would sink moral in the Northwest portions of the nation, coming neatly under Gorgraq control, allowing the Gorgraq army to sweep southward and bypassing the valleys of the Northeast.

The Iranian President ordered the army to retreat from the southeast and move back to defend the southwest and central Iran. With the skies above Tehran clear, the city could be fortified with what remained of the supplies. The Iranian President himself would try to leave the country and ask for help from the international community.

As the Gorgraq army withdrew, the Iranian Army kept picking off soldiers from behind and blocking the path of the tanks, forcing the Gorgraq to abandon them. Being stuck in the valleys however made it impossible for the Iranians to retrieve and us them also. As the Gorgraq withdrew, many of the Iranian Army was making its way to defend the valleys further and also send units over to Tabriz.

Captain Al-Salii and his men were ordered too go with several other companies and attack the Gorgraq army assaulting Tabriz, moving as fast as they can it would still take about a day to reach the city being in the east part of the nation, they loaded their jeeps and headed west.

With little help from other nations, it was likely that Tabriz would fall in just a few days, however they would hold out as long as they can, 25 of the T-28 medium tanks gifted by Empesth were in route to the city. While the infantry left in the city would hide in the buildings and dirt, trying to force the Gorgraq to fight them.

It has come to our burgeoning nation's attention of your nation's proximity to ours. Not wanting any border disputes nor diplomatic friction down the road, the Tectonixian government wishes to settle the issue of whom owns the South China Sea. Currently, our Supreme Court has ruled that until a sovereign entity/entities occupies the region known as "Indochina," no nation may lay claim over it. We wish for your government to agree to a bilateral agreement concurring with this ruling, and that the economic, militaristic, financial and sovereign exploitation of the South China Sea will not be bound to a nation's claim over it, which will not be allowed. This matter is open to free debate, and if you wish so, your head of state/government is completely allowed to meet with Valdr Maxwell in Stellanova City, our glorious capital.

[Gorgraq Consociation]

The northern Gorgraq spearhead began to enter Tabrīz, with air support and armoured infantry they began to overwhelm the cities defenses. As the Gorgraq army entered the city vicious street to street fighting occurred, the bigger and well trained Gorgraq army with its more modern weapons had the advantage over the Iranians as they began fall back from the city. With support from the tanks The Gorgraq army would sweep past Iranian postions. With air support any buildings thought be holding Iranian soldiers was to be destroyed through a dive bomber assault, artillery or tank shell. It was clear to The Gorgraqs and The Iranians that the defense of the city was an act of futility. After the final surrender of The Iranian navy in in the Caspain sea now meant that remaining naval ships that had surrendered could be added to The Gorgraq Caspian fleet.

With the Iranian army retreating towards the southwest they were persued by the Gorgraq army after attacking Qom. Once Tabrīz had fallen The Northern Gorgraq spearhead would swing down to attack Qom from the north, this would then allow them to encircle Tehran. The final destruction of the Persian army would come at Qom, with the combined force of both armies for, the north and south crushing the Iranians between them. Once Qom was in Gorgraq hands 300,000 soldiers of The Gorgraq eastern spearhead would split off and capture the south west of the country.

The Social Paradise of Tectonix is keenly aware of your current war with Iran; Tectonix is a very internationally diplomatic and peaceful state, and does not wish for conflict to come to its shores. Such aggression by your military is troubling to many in our Congress, including Valdr Maxwell himself, whom called an emergency congressional congregation not ten hours ago. After hours of debating and general politics, Congress has proposed the Tectonixian-Gorgaqi Non-Aggression Pact. Congress was unsure on what you meant by "if Mongolia stays in our sphere of influence." To provide clarification, the Accords call for the Mongolian region to serve as a buffer zone between our two nations until a sovereign entity occupies the region, in which you may influence that entity at your discretion - if a sovereign entity indeed never occupies the region, it will be split among our two nations by the 47th parallel north. We hope this aligns with your first request.
The second request caused major turmoil in the congressional chambers. You see, Tectonix has absolutely no reason on why it should embargo nor cut all diplomatic ties to a nation we just finished signing a non-aggression pact with. However, as we wish to have the Accords wholly authorized, and we are aware of the bloody war that the Consociation is waging, Congress has made a counter-proposal: Although Tectonix will not immediately embargo nor cut off diplomatic ties with the Gorgraq Consociation, if that nation violates either the Tectonixian or Empesth border in any way that has not been expressly authorized, Tectonix will embargo and cut off all diplomatic ties with the Consociation without negotiation. Also, if this event happens, 500 kilos of gold from the National Bullion Repository in New Verano will be sent to your capital as compensation.
