Good for them.
However, I'll think less of them if they try to milk this for political gain.
And I am a bit glum about Heck being involved, because he's running opposite Harry Reid, currently leading, and so this could cost the Democrats a Nevada Senate seat. I mean, he did the right thing, I just wish the price wasn't potentially a Senate seat going red.

Washington (CNN) Sen. Marco Rubio and Rep. Joe Heck, two Republicans in two key Senate races, pulled over Thursday night traveling back from an event to help with the aftermath of a multi-car crash.
Rubio, of Florida, and Heck, who represents Nevada's 3rd congressional district and is a combat surgeon, were driving to their hotel in Wheeling, West Virginia, when they witnessed a semi-truck headed westbound when he lost control, went across the median and hit three cars, according to WTRF. (1)
The two helped the victims until first responders arrived and provided information to authorities, according to Rubio's campaign office. (2) One of the victims, identified by WTRF as a 62-year-old man, died as a result of his injuries.
"Jeanette and I send our prayers and condolences to the family of the individual who tragically lost their life in Thursday night's accident in West Virginia," Rubio said in a statement. "I want to thank all of the first responders who arrived quickly and did their jobs with swift professionalism. Please join me in praying for all those affected."
"Lisa and I want to join the Rubios in offering prayers and condolences to those grieving and wish a speedy recovery to the injured," Heck said in a statement. "As always, we have great respect for the first responders who handle such cases every day."

UPDATE: Noon - Friday, Sept. 30. New details have been released on a fatal accident in Ohio County that occurred late Thursday night.
Police say the victim was 62-year-old Bernard Howard Bachmann of Washington.
According to Ohio County Sheriff Pat Butler, a semi was headed westbound when he lost control, went across the median and hit three cars headed eastbound.
Bachmann was pronounced dead at the scene.
No drugs or alcohol appear to be a factor, but they are waiting for reports.
Sheriff Butler says the semi truck driver may have hydroplaned.
ORIGINAL: 10:19 p.m. - Thursday, Sept. 29.
Ohio County Sheriff Pat Butler has confirmed that one person was killed in an accident near Exit 10 on I-70 in Ohio County on Thursday night.
Butler said the crash involved multiple vehicles, and that a large amount of police and first responders are on the scene.
At the scene of what we have heard is a fatal auto accident, I-70 EB near Dallas Pike. Avoid the area. @WTRF7News
— Kurt Weinschenker (@KurtBW_WTRF) September 30, 2016
All lanes of I-70 eastbound are closed while the accident is being cleaned up and investigated.
According to Ohio County EMA Director Lou Vargo, it all happened when a Semi Truck and three other vehicles collided.
One car flipped on its side; other with tarp out of respect for deceased. @WTRF7News

This gives foundation to the CNN claim "a semi-truck headed westbound when he lost control, went across the median and hit three cars" but there is nothing in the local news about Rubio or Heck, to substantiate "they witnessed a semi-truck headed westbound when he lost control".
With no other sources mentioned, presumably the claim that Rubio and Heck "witnessed" the accident take place comes from Senator Rubio's office. Some un-named person at his office, who is quoted here: (2). Tweets from Rubio and Heck (called "statements" by CNN) acknowledge they were there, but neither tweet gives any indication they were anything more than observers. Both praise first responders.
So we have
- Rubio and Heck witnessed an accident take place, according to CNN according to an unknown source at Rubio campaign HQ.
- Rubio and Heck helped survivors to safety, according to anonymous poster Arumbia67
- Heck administered first aid to survivors, according to anonymous poster Arumbia67
One part exaggerated fact, two parts bullshit by a blatantly partisan poster on NSG. This is the stuff that great threads are made of, to be sure.

What reason do we have to assume they lied? That's a pretty ridiculous story to tell. Also, the report itself said they helped. "The two helped the victims until first responders arrived and provided information to authorities, according to Rubio's campaign office. (2) One of the victims, identified by WTRF as a 62-year-old man, died as a result of his injuries." Or did you miss that part?
