IC About Us

In the past, so-called ‘alliances of the workers’ have betrayed the workers, peasants, and serfs of the world time and time again, accepting monarchies and centrist states into their ranks without hesitation or complaint. Only a true socialist alliance can stand against the capitalists, fascists, monarchists, and imperialists of the world, and so the Socialist International has risen to the position. We shall fight the capitalists and their false promises of a prosperous economy and luxurious life, the fascists and their false promises of cooperation between workers and capitalists and their delusions of race warfare, the monarchists and their lies of a culture and a checkpoint against corruption, and the imperialists who build empires of exploitation.

We shall protect ourselves with the People’s Combat Columns and mutual defence pacts with one another, and the workers in the skies and on the grounds shall win the wars of liberation against the Four Enemies that stand against the people.

And we will rise to the stars with cooperation between our space programs, paving the way for socialism, communism, anarchism, and the human race itself to touch the surface of other planets and moons, and the floors of space stations and spacecraft.

OOC About Us

We’re a close-knit alliance of various leftist nations – close-knit doesn’t mean you can’t join us; we’re actually always open to new members. Our membership is diverse and comes from all over the world, and we’re a generally fun and enjoyable group of people who are open to various roleplay ideas.

Not all of us are leftists in real life – quite a few of us are on the right, and the beliefs of our various member states do not always represent the beliefs of the person behind the member state even if they are a fellow leftist – some of us are merely social democrats.

We admit any state that is past the middle of the centre-left that does not have a monarchy – revolutionary hereditary systems similar to North Korea are acceptable. Observer states cannot be national socialists, fascists, or members of the Santiago Anti-Communist Treaty Organisation - or any other alliance that has openly declared that it is hostile to the Socintern and is not willing to negotiate.

Interalliance Relations

The Socialist International prides itself on having good OOC interalliance relations with all of the alliances it has contacted in the NationStates Diplomacy forums – however, we do have many IC enemies and allies, allowing for fun and diverse roleplay where we can discuss diplomacy and fight on the battlefields with one another.

It should be noted that as of the 11th of September 2016, the International Freedom Coalition is not recognised ICly.

Charter of the Socialist International

PREAMBLE

The Socialist International is an alliance devoted to the protection of each member state against external capitalist, fascist, imperialist, or monarchist aggression, and we shall defend the sovereignty of every member state in the Socialist International as such. We shall not bow to capitalist, fascist, imperialist, or monarchist aggression, and this charter outlines the rights and duties of member states in the fight against the Four Oppressors, as well as how the Socialist International shall function in the fight.

CONSTITUTION OF THE SOCIALIST INTERNATIONAL
ARTICLE ONE – NAME AND EMBLEM

a. the organisation and alliance spoken of in this charter, and in all official functions, is officially to be known as the ‘Socialist International’, representing the unity of the left from Maoists to Anarcho-Communists to Trotskyists to Luxemburgists
a i. the Socialist International may officially be shortened to the ‘SOCINTERN’, ‘SocIntern’, ‘socintern’, or ‘Socintern’ if it is required – these abbreviations are also acceptable in this document, and they refer to the Socialist International itself instead of any other organisation that may arise
b. the emblem shall officially be defined as the ‘Red Square’, a square with a canton holding a white star and a red background.
b i. this emblem shall be used to represent the Socialist International as a whole in all official occasions where necessary, with the same applying for all official resources and publications
c. the emblem of the People’s Combat Columns shall officially be defined as the ‘No Pasaran’, an emblem that is primarily a square with a triangle facing downwards – the background of the square is red, while the background of the triangle is black, with the edges of both the square and triangle black. The text ‘No Pasarán’ is placed in the lower area of the square. A three-pointed star is located in the canton
c i. this emblem shall be used in all official occasions related to the People’s Combat Columns where the use of the emblem is mandated, and shall also be used on all official resources to represent the People’s Combat Columns where necessary

ARTICLE TWO – DEFENCE AND THE PEOPLE’S COMBAT COLUMNS

a. all member states are mandated to participate in the defence of another member state
a i. an exception to this is granted if both warring states are member states of the Socialist International, in which case it is advised that member states remain neutral until peace talks begin – once peace talks begin, it is asked member states stress the importance of socialist unity.
b. all member states are mandated to participate in the People’s Combat Columns if they are able to, the participation is not required to be participation in a conflict or a deployment of an armed contingent to be under the command of the People’s Combat Columns – other forms of participation are welcome
b i. it is again stressed that member states unable to participate are not mandated to participate in the People’s Combat Columns
c. the organisation of the People’s Combat Columns is to be outlined elsewhere, although it should be noted that any supreme command of the People’s Combat Columns will be appointed by the present Secretary-General of the Socialist International

ARTICLE THREE – PURPOSE AND PRINCIPLES

a. the Socialist International shall rely on a basis of four main purposes
a i. the defence of socialism, communism, anarchism, and leftism as a whole worldwide
a ii. the promotion of socialism, communism, anarchism, and leftism as a whole worldwide
a iii. the protection of even non-member states who are left-leaning or centrist from imperialist capitalists, fascists, or monarchists who seek to impose their rule on those who do not wish nor require it
a iv. the complete destruction of capitalism, imperialism, fascism, and monarchism
b. the Socialist International shall rely on a basis of additional purposes
b i. the promotion of space-faring endeavours and sponsorship of the growth of humanity throughout the stars
b ii. to allow member states to rely on one another for trade and not have to turn to external markets which may be dominated by capitalists, fascists, imperialists, and monarchists
b iii. to support socialist, communist, and anarchist parties in elections in democratic states and to promote a popular front of all leftist parties and organisations in elections in democratic states

ARTICLE FOUR – ADMINISTRATION OF THE SOCIALIST INTERNATIONAL

a. the Secretary-General will serve as the administrator of the Socialist International and will appoint appropriate officials for the organisation/alliance, and will appoint the supreme command of the People’s Combat Columns.
a i. the Secretary-General is elected by the member states of the Socialist International every month, and shall be one person from a member state – member states themselves or entire delegation cannot serve as the Secretary-General.
a ii. the Secretary-General may be shortened to the ‘SecGen’ or ‘Secgen’ where needed.
b. four advisers shall advise the Secretary-General on various matters alongside the various officials chosen to head the various departments of the Socialist International
b i. all of these advisers shall be hand-picked by the Secretary-General based on merit alone, serious accusations of nepotism that have a base will result in a vote being held to impeach the Secretary-General and hold new elections
c. the Supreme Allied Commander will serve as the commander-in-chief of the People’s Combat Columns, chief military official for the Socialist International, and the chief military adviser to the Secretary-General
c i. the Supreme Allied Commander, alongside the rest of a supreme command of the People’s Combat Columns, will be chosen by the Secretary-General on merit and knowledge alone

ARTICLE FIVE - MEMBERSHIP

a. states/nations/countries may apply for member status by filling in the application form marked ‘Member State Application’. They shall be either accepted or denied by the Secretary-General or any official appointed to oversee the task of accepting and denying applications.
b. a member state may have its member status removed by the Secretary-General following discussion among the leadership – which may be reversed with a majority vote of the membership - or a majority vote of the membership in favour of that state being removed from the roster.
b i. the member status may be removed if the state commits an offence in violation of the goals of the Socialist International
b ii. the member status may be removed if the state has a successful coup d’etat launched by counter-revolutionary or anti-democratic parties, organisations, or people
b iii. the member status may be removed if the state aggressively attacks another member state without reason, or if that member state shows signs of launching such a move

RIGHTS OF MEMBER STATES
ARTICLE ONE – BASIC RIGHTS OF MEMBER STATES

a. member states shall have the right to defensive military assistance from the Socialist International
b. member states shall have the right to request economic assistance from both the Socialist International and fellow member states of the Socintern that can provide economic assistance
c. member states shall have the right to withdraw from the Socialist International at any time if they believe such a decision is the right choice for their state/nation/country
d. member states shall have the right to non-interference in national affairs if not taking action does not violate the human rights of citizens within that state/nation/country

DUTIES OF MEMBER STATES
ARTICLE ONE - WAR

a. the Secretary-General with the approval of the Supreme Allied Commander may declare war upon any alliance, organisation, or state/nation/country as long as a valid reason is present for such a move
a i. member states are not required to participate in such an offensive action if they object to such an action, however if non-combatant states are attacked merely for holding membership in the Socialist International all states are required to intervene in the offensive war on the side of the Socialist International
a ii. a state/nation/country may be issued a declaration of war if they make moves that violate the sovereignty of a member state, friendly state, or leftist to centrist state that is not in the Socialist International
a iii. a state/nation/country may be issued a declaration of war for other reasons, which may include or not include the reason for war specified above
c. see Article Two of the Constitution of the Socialist International for further details upon defensive war

ARTICLE TWO - ADMINISTRATION

a. member states are mandated to send a representative to meetings if such a move is possible
b. member states are mandated to vote in the election of the Secretary-General if such a move is possible
