Emperor addresses the nation in response to naval deployment

Amidst rising tensions between the Kingdom of Tengochi and Rouronia, His Most Heavenly Sovereign, Emperor Iyo of the Chōwa dynasty, made a speech addressing the nation from his palace in the imperial capital of Teito. The beginning of his speech follows:

It is hardly necessary to say that the Heavenly Kingdom of the State of Tengochi, in its ultimate righteousness and glory, only desires peace and harmony with the other nations of this world. However, with the illegal occupation of Tengochese islands by the government of Rouronia, and their refusals in our generous attempts at peace, they have continued to undermine peace and stability in the region. It is not unreasonable that, in response to these provocations, and in the interests of national security, that the Imperial Tengochese Armed Forces, who are tasked with the defense of the nation and the protection of its territorial sovereignty, integrity, and inviolability, would act on the orders of the imperial government.

The deployment of a naval fleet in close proximity to these islands earlier today, while having understandably alarmed members of the international community, should not be considered an aggressive move nor a provocation by the State of Tengochi. Rather, the deployment should be considered a deterrent to Rouronian aggression, and it was made with the intentions of protecting and preserving our territorial sovereignty and integrity. War is considered to be a last resort option by senior government officials, and the State of Tengochi will continue to uphold peace in the region to the best of its abilities.

In spite of Rouronian aggression, His Most Heavenly Sovereign has displayed firm leadership and great resolve in this crisis. The Emperor continued in his speech by saying that, should Rouronia continue its current path, the State of Tengochi would be forced to adopt defensive measures in order to defend national security. Additionally, the Emperor urged the nation to remain calm, but supportive of the government and their actions in securing peace and prosperity not just for the people of Tengochi, but for nations all around the world. The speech was well received by other members of the government, including the Prime Minister, who voiced support for the speech and condemned the ongoing occupation of the Tengochese islands.

King Vlasis Aniketos IV condemns Emperor Iyo, says referendum will be held

A referendum will be held for the eight islands immediately

Earlier today, Emperor Iyo of Tengochi made a rather aggressive move against the Most Divine Kingdom and her King, Vlasis Aniketos IV. Emperor Iyo began his speech to the nation by stating that the Most Divine Kingdom illegally occupied the islands, which is completely false. Since the nation of Tengochi has deployed a naval fleet close to Rouronian sovereignty, the King has said that Rouronia would do the same. The Royal Rouronian Armed Forces have also increased their readiness to respond if need be.

However, since the islands have been wanting to join Tengochi for some time, and since the King doesn't want a revolt to occur, an immediate referendum has been ordered. Tomorrow morning, every citizen inhabiting the eight islands will go and vote. The options will be to either join the nation of Tengochi or to stay with Rouronia. While speaking on national television today, King Aniketos IV said that he expects the islands to join Tengochi.

Wheat Production Reaches Record Level This Season

The Sinuhan Ministry of Agriculture this week has reported that domestic agricultural production has reached record levels so far into the harvesting season, especially in grains such as what and barley. According to the ministry, the government has purchased 5.3 million tonnes of wheat from local farmers, at a cost of ₯42 ($47) per 150 kg of grains. In the Sinuhan system, the government purchases all agricultural output from local farming communes, called kibbutzim, except for what the members of the kibbutz directly consume. The government is then able to redistribute food and other resources around the country where they can alleviate local pressure or sell it abroad for a profit. Last season the government purchased only 4.8 million tonnes.

Despite the increase in agricultural production, prices of several goods are predicted to rise in the coming weeks, primarily because Pharaoh approved a tariff increase on over 600 imported goods last Tuesday. The customs duty on items such as household appliances, cosmetics, and textiles has been increased to 20-40%, up from the previous 10-30%. This includes a complete ban on agricultural imports from rival nations, such as Aarocia. At the same time, the government has announced that the market price of several items, such as meat, fish, cheese, and milk will be raised.

Minister of Defense announces new military plans

"The Imperial Tengochese Armed Forces is in desperate need of modernization and reform," proclaimed the Minister of Defense, Sachiro Hashimoto, in a speech to the public. "As a result of external pressures and threats," he continued, "the Imperial Parliament, with the approval and sanction of the Emperor, has passed bills designed to address these problems, namely by reorganizing the command structure, increasing the military budget, and expanding the navy, which is in critical need of more personnel."

"These comprehensive reforms will be overseen by a special committee personally appointed by His Most Heavenly Sovereign. In addition to this, with the advice of senior military analysts and generals, we will also resolve to fix weaknesses in our defenses. This will include the deployment of a carrier task force to protect our southern coasts, ports, and islands."

"This redeployment should be treated as routine; we move ships around all the time. Official Tengochese military doctrine states that all units should be in a constant state of readiness, and be prepared to conduct operations immediately in an area if the situation calls for it." The Minister of Defense said in response to concerns brought up by news reporters.

"The new military plans are expected to be implemented by the beginning of next month, although unforeseen delays could push the date back even further," Hashimoto said.

Premier Petit Takes Office!

After the 2015 elections were held, it was announced that Daniel Petit of Wehrhaltensburg, Crotarossiya, would take office. After several short delays, he has finally been able to take his post as Premier of the Socialist Federated Republic of Petrokovia! He comes from the minority English-speaking Northern Crotarossians, and it is thought that under him minorities may receive more support and representation, in stark contrast with former Premier Romanov's policy of Pan-Slavic Petrokovitization (taking over other cultures and making them more like the majority Petrokovian culture). He has also stated that he will work towards bettering Petrokovia's relations with the outside world, and work to get Petrokovia on 100% renewable energy by 2020, transferring jobs from nuclear plants into hydraulic, geothermal, wind, and solar energy plants.

With an overwhelming majority the Particio Democratico has swept away the victory in the parliamentary elections of last night.
particio democratico faction leader and former Vice-Chancellor Thomson Nattis has lead his party to success.
Mister Nattis was recieved at the national parliament this afternoon by Chancellor and fellow party member Leonardo Caprice.

After a short talk in front of the press, chancellor Caprice appointed mister Nattis as Formateur (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Formateur). His mission will officially start tomorrow morning at 6 o'clock.
Rumor has it that the first formation meetings are scheduled with the Liberals from Casu Libertatis.

Election Results In

Following last nights election, it has been shown that the Progressive Conservatives under current Chancellor Crowley have managed to hold onto the reigns of government, despite polls showing them to be in second or third place for most of the five-week election, however they have defied expectations to hold onto government, though being cut down in the process from a majority government to a minority government despite losing 40% of their seats in the House of Commons. In fact, the Progressive Conservatives and the New Democratic Party were the only parties to lose seats, with all the other parties gaining seats. The Republican and Green parties increased their seats from eight and thirteen, respectively to twenty each. The Alawite Bloc has made significant gains, including recapturing twenty seats lost to the PCs in the previous election as well as capturing twenty seats from the other parties brining their seat total to 160, a recorded number for them.

The Liberals, after being in the political wilderness since their devastating defeat in the 2004 election have made a comeback by getting the second most seats and being His Majesty's Loyal Opposition. The New Democratic Party has fallen from the Official Opposition to fourth-place while the Nickelian Conservative Reform Alliance came just within twenty seats of beating the Liberals in seat count for Official Opposition. Nickelian Conservative Reform Alliance leader, Stephen Harper has said he is willing to form a coalition government with the PCs to give them their majority in government.

Government coalition discussions enter next phase

After Formateur Nattis's visits to both Casu Libertatis and CSR (Comites social Roelandia) it appears clear that the next roelandian government will become a coalition of mostly center-right leniency (Particio democratice and Casu Libertatis) with a slight leftist counterweigth (CSR) in order to obtain a 2/3th majority.

When technically a coalition with just Casu libertatis would be just enough to govern, we have always mentioned during our election campaign that we strive for a strong government that has the power to implement significant changes. therefore the CSR is involved in the formation negotiations. Besides, the CSR has a majority together with the green party in the regional government of Roelandia Colonia. Having the CSR in the national government will make synchronizing the efforts of both the regional governments and the national governments easier and more efficient.

Election results finally decided

In a stunning outcome, Rodoljub Vulović of the Narodna Demokratska Stranka has won the national election in a sweeping landslide victory. It is speculated that Mr. Vulović's victory was due largely to his hardline stance on foreign affairs, family values and the Ukranian economy. He will be sworn in to his new position tomorrow.

Tragedy struck today when an unidentified gunman opened fire into a crowd of pro-Faustinian protesters. Faustin Land has had a long history of ethnic-based conflict with Ukranians, and this shooting is the latest in a recent string of attacks across Ukranska targeting Faustinians.

The northern cape of Ukranska has long been disputed territory, causing sanctions and even occasional small-scale wars. A major point for Mr. Vulović's campaign was the resolution of the problem, and there are now high hopes that the long-standing issue will finally be brought to rest.

"Greenpeace" Declared a National Security Threat!
As most Galbeonians very well know, the Galbeonian Greenpeace movement has, over the past few years, become increasingly hostile in their attempts to acquire increased rights for animals, despite Galbeon having extremely good animal rights laws. Now, a year old bill declaring Greenpeace, or as it is dubbed by the rest of Galbeon as "Greenwar," a terrorist organization has been passed, and in a rather large hurry. That is because a recent raid in a Sudentor home conducted by the Galbeonian Counterterrorism Police Unit, or GCPU revealed multiple plans to attack meat processing plants around Galbeon with homemade explosives. Three Greenpeace members were killed in a firefight with the GCPU during the raid. Now that the legislation has been passed, the military will soon be hunting down the top members of the organization, alongside what remains of Free Devinasta: the separatist force that has been around since the failed formation of a new nation in the Galbeonian north 80 years ago.

Other reasons for the recent reclassification of the organization include the "Greenpeace Mistake," in which Grenpeace activists attempting to raid a cattle farm outside Sudentor instead breached the wall and gained entry into Cruik Fortress. All six members who broke through into the fort were killed merely seconds after they made entry.

CONSTRUCTION OF A WALL HAS BEGUN

As I speak right now, the wall's just got ten feet higher! declared Adam Skalicky, a spokesperson for the Director, as he announced the construction of two walls between the borders of Sjealand and Ukranas.

"I believe its an intelligent decision" commented Boris Řeznik, a local of North Londo. "Our neighborhood, and much of the city in general, has been the target of aliens both legal and illegal from the two nations bordering us. I can't see what all this fuss about it being racist is about."

Indeed. The purpose of the two walls is to halt illegal immigration and to otherwise serve as a better checkpoint across Faustin Land's two borders. Additionally, the wall can also halt criminals from Faustin Land fleeing to Sjealand or Ukranas.
However, this decision is not without a slight backlash. Criticism, most of which is coming from other countries, have called the Director's decision to build the wall an example of prejudice against other races. This is ignoring the fact that Faustin Land and Ukranas have a history of conflict with eachother, and that Ukranians and Sjealandians are not a race.

Additionally, Ukranas is expected to pay for their wall, which is expected to cost millions of Faustin Dollars. Sjealand is excluded from this.

Exaequatio has offered all of the displaced persons who are part of Greenpeace a safe haven in Exaequatio. The Speaker said today, "Our nation is the most eco-friendly in the world. Coalition Government Formed

After three days of negotiations it has been announced that the Progressive Conservatives under party leader and current Chancellor Crowley MacLeod and Stephen Harper, leader of the Nickelian Conservative Reform Alliance have formed a coalition government which will give them a combined seat total of 1,050, or a forty-nine seat majority. Under the published agreement the coalition government will last for a period of at least forty-eight months before an election can be called. Of the eighteen cabinet positions, eleven will go to the Progressive Conservatives, six to the Nickelian Conservative Reform Alliance, with one cabinet position going to an independent. Stephen Harper of the Nickelian Conservative Reform Alliance will be given the position of Prime Minister.

NORTHERN CAPE OF UKRANAS OFFICIALLY CEDED TO FAUSTIN LAND

After several weaks of negotiating in the Ukranian capital of Durakovo, the northern cape of Ukranas is, of today, officially part of Faustin Land's hegemony. As a display of our newfound power within the territory, the Faustian Army rolled into the province's capital only to find its streets barren of any life, mostly due to famine and interracial warfare between Faustian and Ukranian urban gangs.

In other news, tensions continue to increase over the construction of a wall between Faustin Land's border with Ukranas. Specifically the fact that the Ukranian government would have to pay for the wall themselves. This act has caused criticism to be targeted towards Faustin Land, all of which is coming from Social Justice "activists" and humanitarians. World governments have not reacted to the move as of now.

New Government sworn in

Today, the new government headed by newly appointed prime minister Thomson Nattis was sworn in. Most major positions such as interior affairs, commerce and international affairs are in the hands of the victorious party, the Particio Democratico while other matters such as immigration and transportation were given to members of the Casu libertatis party. The CSR presides mainly over welfare such as healtcare and are expected to introduce new measures that warrant financial compensation in case of sickness. The governing accord however does not include any changes being made to the existing structure of private insurers being regulated by FEDICAR, and financial support being paid in the form of "health cheques".

Sjealand closes river border with Faustin Land

The border fence in the Poltos river marking the Sjealandian-Faustinland border has officially been closed to Faustinians by the Sjealandian Rigsdag following increased hostility between Ukranas and Faustin Land. The President of the Rigsdag Johanne Von Risbæk commented that the closure should not be taken as a provocation and that was merely a security-decision to make sure the current conflict between Ukranas and Faustin Land does not spill over into Sjealand.

Several bridges over the river have also been closed for an undisclosed amount of time due to fears of Faustinian nationals bringing over conflict to the northern border zone. The Northern Kingdoms has rerouted several Homeland Security Regiments to fortify and guard the bridges and apprehend and return any potential movers. Sjealandian citizens and in Faustin Land and Faustinian Citizens in Sjealand have been offered a one week notice to return to their homelands provided they show their passport and other ID. Traffic on the river itself via boats has not been outlawed or prohibited however boats docking will be searched and Ukranesian and Faustinian citizens will be apprehended and returned if found in the ships, with the ships owner facing heavy fines.

The forest riders watching over the national parks in the north have now also recieved orders to watch over the river from newly constructed watchtowers. In order for them to apprehend suspected illegals, thousands of new Imperial Stallions have been freighted to the northern kingdoms along with newly-smithed sabres and modern rifles so that the Forest Riders may be able to easily catch the criminals.

HIM Frederik VI shortly commented on the situation calling it a sad and unwanted situation they had been put in, but one they have ultimately been forced to. He has expressed his sympathies with the Ukranesians caught in the annexation and has suggested UN negotiations to sort out the conflict on neutral ground, but has said he does not want to intervene in the conflict. Neither militarily or economically. He has however prepared the Foreign Legion in case either of the two sides decide to hire them.

Healthcare minister issues controversial proposal

Nina Tersago, minister of healthcare and CSR party member has introduced new measures that will make healthcare more affordable overall. She proposed an increase in the reclaimable ammount of money spent on insurance through the industry regulator, the government institution known as FEDICAR and a proposal making insurance refusal by companies even more difficult. Although these changes are welcomed by most, the way she plans to finance these new measures is the source of controversy.
Minister Tersago proposed introducing a tax on the consumation of "unhealthy" goods such as sigarets, alcohol, sugar rich soda's and so on.
While there is no mention of this in the recently signed governing agreement, minister Tersago is not out overstepping her authority.
The controversy is due to the Particio Democratico's promise of installing a "flat tax" on consumer goods, a point that is also very important to coalition partner Casu libertatis.
The third coalition partner, CSR (Comunites Social Roelandia) now seeks to contest this, at least in some small way.

A "flat tax" on consumer goods is essentially a taxation that does not very in ammount between various consumer goods. The eyed ammount was 16 percent tax on all goods (ranging from basic goods such as bread and water to luxury goods such as jewelry and electronics). Now CSR wants to highten the taxation on "unhealthy" goods to 21 percent. Minister Tersago stated that this measure or the "Tersago tax" as it is already being dubbed will ensure the financing of the new expanded reclaimable healthcare insurance spending.

Although we are not entirely averse to the proposal, it does upset the promises we made to our voters and we will not forget why we were voted into office.

Open invitation regarding trade agreement with the nation Inprobus rejected

In a joint statement, Chancellor Caprice and Prime minister Nattis declared that they will not seek a trade agreement with the nation of Inprobus.
The reason for this is that both men don't want to asscosiate themselves with a nation that endorses slavery, even though recent positive developments in that regard were observed the fact alone that it still exists was enough for the two men and the cabinet to reject the open invitation.

Emperor agrees to Inprobusian trade proposal

In response to the Inprobusian proposal for trade agreements to the entire world, His Heavenliness, Emperor Iyō of the Chōwa dynasty has proclaimed his support for the trade agreement. "This is a monumental leap in improving relations with the Empire of Inprobus. This trade agreement will serve to benefit both of our countries, effectively allowing us to significantly improve bilateral cooperation in numerous fields." The Emperor continued with his speech, saying that the agreement was a "small step into the continued progress and advancement of mankind."

His Most Heavenly Sovereign also condemned countries that had declined the trade proposals, and applauded Cedric Kalumnia's, the leader of Inprobus, actions in opening up to the world and becoming more involved in world affairs.

Communist plot discovered, 12 people arrested

In response to a plot to assassinate His Heavenliness, the Special Police Service, lead by the Committee for the Preservation of Public Order, and the Imperial Military Police acted quickly. Upon further investigation, it was discovered that the plot was orchestrated by the illegal, underground Communist Party of Tengochi. A raid was conducted by the members of the Secret Police Service on an abandoned warehouse where the illegal movement had been meeting, in which all twelve members were promptly arrested and are currently being detained in a classified location, where they await their trial, in which they will inevitably be charged for high treason against His Most Heavenly Sovereign the Emperor.

"The Communist Party of Tengochi has long since its formation been solely committed to the idea of a violent revolution against His Heavenliness the Emperor," the Minister of Justice, Naruhiko Koto, said, "Among their dangerous ideas include the abolition of private property - a key right granted to the people in the Imperial Constitution. They constantly engage in subversive activities, threatening public order and attempting to challenge and undermine the benevolent rule of His Most Heavenly Sovereign. As such, they pose a significant threat to our society and has created a situation that no society that desires to uphold the rule of law and human decency should tolerate. This outrageous plot is only one out of many that these despicable communists will attempt in order to achieve their goals."

The Minister of Justice also continued by advising the public on how to deal with the threat, "Suspected communists and the actions of others who are engaging or have expressed the wish to engage in such subversive activities against His Heavenliness the Emperor and the government of Tengochi should immediately be reported to local authorities. However, the public should, of course, as with any other crisis remain calm. As of right now, the communists pose no credible threat to His Most Heavenly Sovereign, and the plot," He admitted, "did not seem to have progressed beyond its earliest planning stages."

While the Emperor was not available to comment on the matter, Koto assured the public that He is "completely prepared to assume the responsibilities of leading the nation through any crisis, and was not concerned in any way whatsoever regarding the plot to assassinate him." Koto also confirmed that security had been tightened around the Heavenly Palace and in the capital of Teito as a necessary precaution.

Katyusha Supercarrier Nears Completion; Construction on Schedule!
The SFRPS Katyusha, Petrokovia's own supercarrier project, is nearing completion. The supercarrier will use various advanced equipment from at home and abroad, including several electronics and weapons systems from Exaequatio. The carrier will see an entirely new crew specifically trained over several years (as many as it took to complete the ship; 4) manning the ship. The carrier will house 83 aircraft, including several new Petrokovian aircraft which are set to replace mainstream aircraft in the military (such as the new MiG-35 Multirole fighter); The ship will have room enough for a total of 90 aircraft. After a recent special trade deal with Exaequatio, it has been revealed that 10 of Exaequatio's new Macaw I41-A Stealth fighters will be stationed on the ship under the Petrokovian Navy. However, the technology of these aircraft, as well as the special modifications made by Petrokovian engineers to convert it to carrier-acceptable, are unknown, and not scheduled for release.

The Katyusha will make use of advanced arresting gear, automation of several systems, an electromagnetic aircraft launch system (with a traditional steam catapult as a back up), and a plethora of weaponry; It will be far more heavily armed than the Kuznetsov-Class carriers currently in use.

A UN emergency meeting has been called to solve the Ukranas/Faustin land crysis.
The Chancellor who traditionally handles international relations attends the meeting together with minister of foreign affairs Marko Pitrece.
Before his departure Chancellor Caprice stated:

Our country goes with a concerned attitude to this meeting. Both Ukranas and Fauston land are essentially in our "backyard". There is every reason for our country to take a leading role in solving this crysis and normalize relations between these two countries.

The UN meeting will be the first for some international leaders such as premier Petit from Petrokovia.
The outcome of the meeting is therefore difficult to predict.

"Tersago tax" greenlitted but with limits

Prime minister Nattis has greenlitted the controversial "Tersago tax". A tax on "unhealthy products" that is meant to finance the newly introduced healtcare benefits by minister of healthcare Nina Tersago.
The prime minister stated as follows:

The coalition partners reached an agreement today about the "Tersago tax". The flat tax proposal it inposed upon will still be implemented but some products that are deemed "unhealthy" by a special commission will be an exemption on this rule. After several days of deliberation we managed to agree on the general terms that determine what is unhealrhy and what isn't, so essentially, what should be taxed and what should not. Thid will include (but are not limited to) strong alcoholic beverages and spirits, soda's and energy drinks containing large doses of alcohol, meaning, beer sales won't be affected as it was intended in the original proposal. Furthermore a "sugar ceiling" will be implemented that will determine which sugar rich products will be taxed more and which will not, depending on the ammount of sugar ammount it contains. I have to say however that regular sugar of the variety that you buy in the store will not be included in this "sugar ceiling" and will be subject to the flat tax

Prince Meets Adoring Subjects

Our perpetual defender and glorious sovereign the Sovereign Prince of Arrinera, William XXI, and his most noble and beautiful wife Princess Laurien, have graced the tiny village of Custenueil, in Cysgomno District, with their presence after an unplanned visit to the small and most northerly settlement in our glorious nation.

Talking with his subjects, who were most grateful for his visit and who sang the Grand March of Charles XII after the announcement that he had arrived, he told them that he was "most grateful for the hospitality received" and that "the people of Custenueil will always be in [his] mind". The beloved sovereign visited the village in order to become closer to his subjects, who see His Serene and Illustrious Highness as a father figure to model themselves on, with Princess Laurien as a mother figure.

His Serene and Illustrious Highness, fitting his surroundings, wore a simple jacket and trousers, with casual leather shoes and an open shirt. His wife, our Princess Consort, wore a flowing beige dress which, despite the usual connotations that beige presents, she pulled off with majesty and grace. Because of the lack of roads in Custenueil, the Princess wore shoes, as opposed to heels. They visited the local farm and the local school, where school children and pigs alike stood to attention in honour of the gracious decision made by our monarch to visit the village.

One unnamed subject said how honoured she felt meeting the Prince and Princess; she said "I have no better memory, nor will have any superior past experience, than my meeting with His Serene and Illustrious Highness." Women flocked to meet the Princess Consort, who leads the nation in fashion and how to 'be a woman', showing that femininity does not mean weakness. Talking to a crowd the Princess Consort said that "women must liberate themselves from the traditional ideas of masculine dominance", whilst swearing their allegiance to "our most noble sovereign".

The princely couple spent two hours at the village, before leaving in their state carriage which was pulled by four white horses, symbolising the purity of the monarchy. They made a small community very happy, giving them wonderful memories for the future.

Minister-president of Bordero reacts dissaprovingly to the Tersago tax

Helan Trioriss, the minister-president of Bordero and PNP (Particio do National Pridess) member has reacted dissaprovingly to the so called "Tersago tax" he called the notion "preposterous and a betrayal of the election promises made by the Particio Democratico"
Minister-president Trioriss vowed to stop it's implementation, he was followed in this reasoning by his colleages from Royale Frontas, the only party in Roelandia advocating a return to a kingdom.
Filipos Neigio, Royal Frontas faction leader commented:

"This is the way of the current administration, promissing one thing and doing the other. They have only been in power for a short time and already they are betraying their promises, I ask you, who still trusts these people?"

According to some mister Triorisses attacks against the "Tersago tax" are purely related to the fact that the largest soda drink producer in Roelandia, "Dr. Pepperoniss" is based in Bordero and forms an important part in the City-state's economy. The Tersago tax is expected to lower consumption of sugar rich goods by 10% across the whole nation which could potentially cut into Bordero's prosperity if the management of Dr. Pepperoniss decides to restructure and scrap jobs.
