This Memorial day what will you be doing?

I'll be getting my assignment duties from the army this weekend. Had a week to get off West Point campus after graduation. So I'm at home with my parents and just waiting for the assignment duties to be sent in the mail.

To pay respects, I'm doing generic American things. I'm hanging out an American flag with my family, and I'm going to visit my friend's grandfather who fought in WW2. He has dementia, its the least we can do.

I had big plans, but they all blew up in my face when I was told we had to staff this weekend because a red flag warning was put out. That means no going anywhere, work all weekend, no family, none of that. Most likely going to be responding to fires caused by idiots barbecueing.

It's tough, unfortunately. I miss my family.

It's a day to honor current soldiers and soldiers who are retired or died in the line of the duty. You can find a mix of people both having parties and than going to remember those who died. That's what my family does. It's also the first day when we get to jump into our backyard swimming pool at my parents house. So there's that.
