Norın Kiv (pronounced nohr-rin keev, surname first) was born in the state of Dıral. He was a professor of civics until entering running for public office at age 44, being elected as a member of the Dırali Parliament. His bluntness made him somewhat popular among the right-leaning liberal voters. He would be later elected as the Confederate representative of Dıral, and late made the Chairman.

Somewhat helpless socially, being perceived as cold and insensitive, Kiv did not marry until he was 46, to a former Alnek Sey, who was his secretary during his state political career. They have two sons, Marak and Ruz.
