Space Colonial RP
Picture a world in the twenty-second century that has been exhausted, a world that is on it’s last legs. This is what has happened to the planet Earth, where humanity has lived since it’s birth as a species, a cradle for mankind. But like every child, humanity has outgrown the cradle and now must undertake a journey into the uncertain universe to find new homes. Five decades ago, the best of humanity launched probes to search for new homes. These probes traveled countless light years to complete their quest for planets, many never to return. Of the five hundred probes launched, a scant fifty-four returned home and only twelve of those had succeeded in finding potentially new homes. The rest were either lost to the infinity of space or still attempting to complete their mission. The twelve that brought back news of potential homes were hailed as the “Golden Dozen” by the media and many political leaders.
Among the “Golden Dozen” was the Christopher Columbus that had traveled far and brought back news of a system that would be named the Columbus System in honor of the probe. The system held ten planets, seven of them terrestrial and two potentially habitable. Of the two, one was a vast desert world with a large ocean that may have been large enough to help support life on the planet, this world was dubbed Kepler. The other was slightly farther away from the sun and covered in the beautiful greens, blues, and whites that had once been the sole trademark of Earth, this planet was dubbed Newton.
Along with Newton and Kepler, sixteen potentially homes were discovered. A massive construction effort began as nations, corporations and powerful groups pooled resources to construct ships the carry the vanguard of humanity to these far flung worlds. Humanity had never been so united as it was in that age, working together because they knew this would be the only hope for many of them, the only alternative would be a war that might see humanity as a species wiped out and all our history amounting to ruins on a dead world. The bitterest of foes shook hands in the hope that their children and grandchildren would have a future.
The twelfth of April, 2192 would forever be remembered as the First Departure, the day when the first ships left to colonize the great beyond. The day would herald a new age of humanity in the same way it did two centuries before when the first man flew into space for a short one hundred and eight minutes. The ships numbering in the hundreds and carrying tens if not hundred of thousands of lives with them spread out following the paths of the golden dozen, desperate to ensure the future of humanity.
With limited resources, only a few of the discovered planets were deemed worthy of initial colonization. In the Columbus system, Newton was chosen as a target for the first wave and a fraction of the some hundred launched made their way to the mysterious fifth planet of the Columbus System. These brave few will land on the planet and for some years attempt to eek out an existence while those on Earth render judgement on the planet. If it is considered worthy, it will be colonized by millions of humans who can no longer live on Earth. If it is deemed unfit, then the colonists will have to pray that they will be retrieved by the ever more resource pressed humans on Earth.
Basically you will be landing on this planet, named “Newton” and you will be attempting to colonize it with a small group of 500 people with a goal to survive long enough for more colonists to arrive. If all goes well, this RP will be conducted in stages, the first being a survival stage where your colonists are attempting to survive whatever the planet throws at them. After ~12 years (RP time), the second stage will begin where more colonists appear and it will become something like a Civ game where we expand throughout the planet and solar system as you attempt to accomplish your goals.
The ships themselves are about 800 feet long, you have 500 people and storage for most of what you need including clothes, plants and some small animals to kick start sustainable growth, assuming you land somewhere you can farm. Along with that you have 200 square meters of “extra” cargo space that you can use for anything you want, vehicles, extra ammunition, boats, etc. Whatever you want, but remember, a lot modern things needs fuel and infrastructure to support them, so careful on what you choose.

- Important Note: The Mod Staff has come up with Many different creatures for the RP, that will be introduced and allowed to be used in a timely, paced manner. Do Not go ahead and introduce your own, if you have any you think would be a good idea for the RP, TG one of the mods and we'll have a look.
- 12 IRL days = 1 Year ( 2 day = 1 Month)
- Only Use IRL exisiting Nations as Sponsors for the RP
- As for Your Specialization: if you choose Researchers/Scientists, chances are your Sponsors would more than likely give you Things like: Research equipment, terminals, Examination equipment, etc. If you are based around Soldiers and Defense, you will most likely be given Some Barricades, A (small) 2 meter High Wall to put around your colonists, an Alotment of Small Arms, etc. HOWEVER: Colonists are Given things Like Basic Housing units (A Housing Unit is put together will some drills and stands creating a small house enough for quite a few people to stay in, like a barracks), Generators to power lights, Terminals, and other equipment, Basic necessities in the form of rations (along with the few food sources to begin setting up) and Weapons to help defend them along with tools. Tl:Dr: Colonies are given basic things to help set up that colony, However with your specialization you will be given different things as extra (which would be DEFAULT and not have to be listed in the Cargo).
