Plot

The Seven Kingdoms of Westeros, united by the Fire and Blood of House Targaryen. For 300 years they have ruled from Kings Landing, striking down all challengers, from the Blackfyre pretenders to their rival houses. Always under the strong, firm hand of a Targaryen King. Not any longer. Aerys II Targaryen, the "The Mad King," has sat on the Iron throne for some 20 years, allowing the realm to fall into a state of disrepair, and weakness. Vassals fight vassals and men call for blood.

The King's noble son, Prince Rhaegar, distrusted by his father for his popularity, yet respected across the Kingdoms for his skill in battle and his honour, has taken Lyanna Stark, only child of Lord Paramount Rickard Stark of the North, and spirited her away in a mad act of love. In response, Lord Rickard and his son and her Brandon, arrive at the capital of Kings Landing, to solve the crisis. Arrested by the Mad King, both were executed, and the heads of the younger Starks called for.

Now, Robert Baratheon, Lord of Storm's End and betrothed of Lyanna, and Eddard Stark, the new Lord of Winterfell, along with their mentor, Jon Arryn of the Vale, have called their banners, and risen in rebellion against the Crown's tyranny. As the winds of war sweep across Westeros, the smallest of people can change the tide of war, and the fate of the Seven Kingdoms. Will it be you?

Introduction

Hello everyone, and welcome to Game of Thrones: War of the Usurper, my latest attempt at RP creation.
IC- viewtopic.php?f=31&t=378314&p=28731112#p28731112
We will be exploring the the magical world of A Song of Ice and Fire, and changing the course of Westerosi history as we know it. Beginning just days after the start of Robert's Rebellion, some 15 years before the start of the TV Series, this RP will be a character driven affair, with significant political and faction based gameplay.

There are a few Rules to follow:
Rules
1) The OP and Co-OP's word is law.
2) This is a fantasy RP but try and be realistic. Travel time, combat, and politicking are all important, dont go too crazy
3) No god modding, metagaming etc.
4) This is going to be a freeform RP, time will vary between posts.
5) This will be an RP based on character development and progression, do not expect storylines to develop for you, make your own and involve other players. If you are stuck with nothing to do, OP/CO-OP will give your a task or an idea.
6) Keep the Lore restricted to A Song of Ice and Fire material only
7) Have FUN

And now we move on to the character creation stage.
Feel free to make your own character/Houses, there is plenty of empty room on the Westeros Map. Restrictions apply to the Great Houses (Lannisters, Tullys, Baratheons etc..) as they will not be interchangeable with new houses. If you create your own House, please follow APP number two as well as the main app.

Name: Rhaegar Targaryen
House: House Targaryen
Age: 24
Gender: Male
Titles: Prince of Dragonstone, Heir to the Iron Throne
House Sigil:
Image

Allegiance paid to: House Targaryen of King's Landing
Appearance:
Image

Personality:Charming, yet quiet and bookish, and kind, with an honourable heart and valiant character. Good humoured, and humble, to complement his natural charisma. Rhaegar was a great believer in prophecy and could seem melancholic at times.
Skills: A skilled musician and poet, also considered to be one of the finest combatants in the land, though he never loved the art of the sword as men like Robert Baratheon and Jaime Lannister do. He appeared to also be a capable tactician and leader.
Weaponry: High quality Targaryen armour and sword, lance.
Military Strength: Dragonstone and its environs can muster around 5000 men, and a good sized Fleet, particularly from the bannermen Celtigar's and Velaryons.
Biography:
Prince Rhaegar was first born son of King Aerys II Targaryen and Queen Rhaella. He was born in 259 AC, on the same day that the tragedy at Summerhall took place.[9][1] As a child he read obsessively, to the point that jests were made about his habits. He became a noted warrior later in life, although he did not initially seem inclined to martial habits. However, apparently by something he had read, Rhaegar became motivated to become a warrior.[10]

At the age of seventeen, Rhaegar was knighted, and from all reports grew into a highly skilled and capable fighter, always distinguishing himself well at tournaments, although he seldom entered the lists - he never loved the song of swords the way that men like Robert Baratheon or Jaime Lannister did.[10] Men said Rhaegar loved his harp more than he loved his lance.[10]

Rhaegar's squires were Myles Mooton and Richard Lonmouth, and after he knighted them they remained close companions. Lord Jon Connington was a good friend to Rhaegar too, but Rhaegar's closest and oldest friend was Ser Arthur Dayne.[11]

Rhaegar often liked to visit the ruins of Summerhall with only his harp and when he returned he sang songs of such beauty they could reduce women to tears. Although Rhaegar was often dour, private and bookish, Cersei Lannister noted at the tournament in honor of Viserys's birth in Lannisport in 276 AC that the smallfolk cheered for Lord Tywin Lannister twice as much as for King Aerys II, but only half as loudly for Tywin as for Rhaegar. Rhaegar was defeated in the champion's tilt by Ser Arthur Dayne.[12] Aerys refused Tywin's offer at the tourney to betroth Cersei to Rhaegar.[4] Rhaegar defeated Arthur in the tourney at Storm's End.[10]

When Rhaegar was born the Targaryen bloodline had decreased, and once he came of age, there was no sister, or anyone else of the bloodline, available for him to marry.[13][14] To try and rectify this matter, his father, King Aerys, send his first cousin, Lord Steffon Baratheon, to seek a bride for Rhaegar.[14] Steffon could not find appropriate females of noble-enough birth for Rhaegar to marry, despite Valyrian blood still being present in Essos, thereby failing his mission.[12]

After this, Rhaegar married the Dornish princess Elia Martell in a lavish ceremony. His father did not attend the wedding because he was paranoid about an assassination attempt and did not even permit the young Prince Viserys to attend. Rhaegar and his fathers relationship was straining at this point and he and his new bride took up residence on Dragonstone instead of King's Landing. Rhaegar and Elia had their first child, a girl named Rhaenys,[2] in 280 AC. When the babe was presented at court, Rhaegars mother embraced her grandchild warmly while King Aerys remarked "she smells dornish". The relationship between Aerys and Rhaegar became more and more estranged. [12]

Elia and Rhaegar would later have a son who they named Aegon. Elia, due to her delicate health, was bed-ridden for half a year after giving birth to Rhaenys and nearly died giving birth to Aegon, after which the maesters told Rhaegar she would be unable to have any more children.[15]

Maester Aemon, whom Rhaegar corresponded with via raven messages, remembers that Rhaegar believed his child Aegon to be the prince that was promised.[9]

When Lord Tywin resigned his position as Hand of the King and left court, the new focus of King Aerys mistrust and paranoia was his own son and heir Prince Rhaegar. At court their was growing tension between the factions loyal to the king and those loyal to Prince Rhaegar. Grandmaester Pycelle had dispatched a letter to the Citadel writing that tensions and division at court strongly resembled those before the Dance of the Dragons, Pycelle was fearful of a civil war between those loyal to the king and those who supported Rhaegar would break out unless some accord could be reached that would satisfy both factions.

When Lord Whent announced a tourney would be held at Harrenhal in either 280 AC or 281 AC[17] to rival any previous tournament. It is believed by some that the tournament was secretly arranged and financed by Prince Rhaegar, as a pretext, so Rhaegar could meet up with the Great Lords of the realm to discuss arranging a Great Council and the removal of his father. The tournament was announced by Lord Whent shortly after his brother Oswell, of the Kingsguard, visited his older brother. When Varys alerted King Aerys to this possibility, Aerys decided to attend the tourney. [18][16]

During the great tourney at Harrenhal, Rhaegar Targaryen seemed unstoppable and defeated even Ser Arthur Dayne, the Sword of the Morning. Taking the winter rose crown for the queen of love and beauty, he revealed his interest in Lyanna Stark by passing over his wife, the Princess Elia of Dorne, and setting it in Lyanna's lap. Eddard Stark later recalled that moment as "when all the smiles died".[19][10] The next year, Rhaegar seemingly kidnapped Lyanna, for reasons unknown. This act ultimately triggered Robert's Rebellion and the downfall of the Targaryen dynasty.

House Name: House Marthart
House Sigil (Image appreciated)

House Words: 'By Virtue we Rise, by Fury we Thrive!'
Allegiance Paid to: House Targaryen
House Seat (Map location required, picture of Castle/town appreciated) The Fortress of Redfort Keep and its two surrounding Villages, Bridgetown and Ericsvale Near the Kingswood directly on the other side of the River just southwest of Kings Landing.
Approx Number of military at command: In the Standing Army House Marthart has a trained force of 500 men. Four hundred of whom would be outfitted in suits of Chainmail, metal Skullcaps with Nasal Guards, and Tabards showing the crest of House Marthart and armed with an assortment of Swords and shields, Spears, and fifty bows.
The Remaining Hundred would be Knights serving House Marthart, and would be equipped in full suits of chainmail under Steel Plates covering their Knees, Shoulders, elbows, necks, and Wrists. These Knights would also wear Burgonets and Salades.
In Combat these Knights would wield a mixture of Longswords and Shields, Greatswords, and Lances.
Additionally, in times of war House Marthart can call upon an additional force of seven hundred men, two-hundred of whom would be outfitted in Chainmail and Tabards while the rest would wear whatever armor they could scrounge up with a Heraldric Tabard.
History of the House (At least two well written paragraphs please):
House Marthart was originally formed in the hamlet of Bridgetown more than two hundred years ago after the last remaining male heir of an old house died in a tournament, leaving the lands to his brother in law Eric, who had married the Lord's sister, Emma.
Eric soon found himself raising a small army of one hundred men who had served under the previous Lord however when an uprising of three hundred men (Although some romanticized versions of the story claim that Eric's hundred fought as many as a thousand zealots, while other stories claim that Emma was the actual claimant that Eric fought, and that Eric was a brute who had forced Emma to marry him after defeating him her army to give himself a claim) led by a disgruntled militant Septon who was convinced that the lands were left to him, and that Eric was a simple usurper. Eric took his forces and marched to the very bridge for which the town was named, and stationed them in the center of the chokepoint during the night after receiving word of the Septon's betrayal.
After burning Eric's longhouse, the Septon's small peasant army marched to secure the bridge, finally encountering Eric's forces. After a massive battle lasting through the night, Eric's men finally crushed the Septon's army.

After inheriting and securing the Large Village, Eric formed 'House Marthart', taking up a Boar on a Blue Shield on a Red Field as his Sigil and choosing his house words as a representation to his rise through Marriage, and the brief period of warfare which he had to conduct to secure his claim. After establishing the house Eric ordered the forging of a massive six-foot long Zweihänder with a boar engraved on both sides of the pommel of the weapon. Eric died a decade later, leaving power to his son, Asher Marthart, who formed the tiny farming village of Ericsvale in honor of his father. Three generations of Marthart lords later, Robert Marthart began the construction of the great family fortress of Redfort Keep, a construction project which lasted four generations more, before being completed by Richard Marthart I and declared the seat of power for the house.
The House is currently held some ten generations later by Richard Marthart II, who is confined to his bed with the plague, and a dispute has recently been settled between Richard's eldest son Godrick Marthart, and his bastard brother Marcus Marthart.

Name: Lord Richard Marthart II 'The sad Baron'

Personality:Richard's foolhardy bravado is not to be mistaken for bravery, as the behavior is infamous for getting Richard into difficult situations, which he often finds harder to get out of after he is sucked in.
On the other side of the same coin, Richard's foolhardy antics have proven very endearing to his men, often leading the charge into a weak enemy flank with several fanatic soldiers assaulting the enemy as they turned to face Richard.
Richard is also known for being very a poor economist, leaving most matters of maths and economics to the court Steward.
Richard is extremely loyal to any alliances or obligations he takes part in, to the point of bringing harm to his own interests if it would honor an obligation.
However, Richard will not fight a battle if he believes it to be entirely against his interests, or otherwise an unnecessary waste of the lives of himself and his men.
Skills: (eg. Robert Baratheon would be a great warrior, Jon Arryn a great administrator, Varys a great spymaster) Richard Marthart is a masterful commander of men and a feared warrior, however he lacks severely in economics.
Weaponry (If any): The Marthart Ancestral Sword 'Heartstriker'
Military Strength (How many men can your lands call upon, eg. The Reach could likely muster 100,000 men.): An absolute maximum of 1200 men from his holdings.
Biography (At least a well written Paragraph please):
Richard II started his young life 32 years ago in the Maester's Tower in Redfort Keep. At the age of four Richard began his education with the Maester, and at seven he began training with Argus the Redfort Keep Man-At-Arms in the use of two-handed swords.
Richard made his first visit to Kings Landing to watch his Father do business at the age of twelve. Richard's father died in a tournament when Richard was twenty, making Richard the new Lord of House Marthart.
Now, at the age of 32 Richard has contracted the Plague and is expected to die in the next couple of weeks.

The Forsworn Knights wrote:
Redfort Keep, the residence and seat of power of House Marthart in the City of Avendor. The Capital city of the Duchy of Nombathia.
Archduke Richard Marthart was sitting on his throne, a large ornate wooden chair with Marthart Boars carved into it. The medium-sized throne room was completely deserted, save for the Archduke himself and one Prophet of Death. Even the Honour Guard had been ordered to patrol the halls. The Archduke just sat in his chair for a few moments, seemingly pondering something, constantly shifting in his seat.
After a short period, the Prophet finally spoke up, shifting in his armour.
"My Lord, your state is getting worse, and we both know it. You are not even hiding your negativity from me anymore. You must send Godrick out to further your line, or I fear the Marthart's will die out. We can not allow that to happ-" The Prophet was cut off as the Archduke raised his arm, shifting in his throne. "One would almost think you thought you could read the future, rather than emotions. I rule in Nombathia, I do not wish to send Godrick to risk his life hunting about for damsels in distress while I suffer from my current predicament. If I were to die while Godrick was away, what would there be to stop Marcus from seizing power for himself during the regency? Upon Godrick's return there would be fighting in the streets. One fire in a farm would form a spiral of death, spreading to the farmhouse, then the local village, then the forests, swiftly engulfing us all in a fresh level of Death. As the Archduke of this dominion, it is my responsibility to try to avoid having that sort of scenario happening when this plague finally takes me."
The Archduke sighed, running a hand through his hair. Though the Archduke was only in his early thirties, his hair was already going gray.
The Prophet thought for a moment, finally speaking up.
"My Lord, my Order has guarded your house and the interests of your heirs for thousands of years now. What if half of us took a small retinue of about fifty men to protect Godrick on his travels, and the rest of our order watched Marcus at all times, making it very clear that your throne shall rightfully go to Godrick? This would keep both your sons alive, allow Godrick to keep your blood going, and prevent Marcus from usurping the Archduchy if you were to die while Godrick was gone."
The Archduke nodded, stroking his braided beard. "Fine, fine. I suppose that we were going to have to start finding Noble houses to marry into outside our own borders anyway. Send Godrick to me, I will have a talk with him on what lies ahead, and what he should be prepared to face on his return."
The Prophet of Death bowed, sprinting from the throne room, carefully closing the doors behind him.

A few moments later, a younger man who looked to be about seventeen walked in. He wore a black tunic with a white Boar on the front. Under this, he wore full chainmail, with leather gloves. The young man stood at six foot nine inches tall, plus an additional inch added by his leather boots, and weighed in at three hundred fifty six pounds. The young man was muscular and clean-shaven, with long red hair. The young man bowed to the Archduke, before rising a moment later.
"Father, Prophet Rollo told me that you wished to speak about some important matters concerning the fate of our household?"
Archduke Richard nodded at his son, gesturing for the young man to stand at ease. "Godrick, I may not be as old as I would have liked, but I most likely wont live to see the next winter. If I die, that will just leave those few of our house who currently reside in this very fortress. That means you, your brother, your sister, your cousin, and your uncle. Your uncle is an old man, which just leaves me with three young men old enough to inherit. Your cousin Jared has no desire to hold my titles, and you are my favourite son. I want the line to grow stronger with you. Son, I need you to go out and make House Marthart known to our neighbours. Go out and make friends in high places, wed a noblewoman, and return back to Avendor. Our house has greatly suffered from this damn plague, and I will rot in the next three afterlives before I let this entire family pass over."
It took a few moments for all this to register with Godrick. After a moment, the young man opened his mouth to respond. "Father, I understand what you are saying, but why? For all your life you have pressed for isolationism, you yourself have always said that with new neighbours come new enemies, which leads to more wars, which results in more dead Martharts. Why start reaching out now?"
The Archduke took the family sword, resting it across his lap. "Godrick, you are going to need to be able to tell a good story of bravery and triumph. Because even with the Prophets watching him, I highly doubt that Marcus will simply let you have this household once my body goes cold. You will need allies, and you will need to be able to produce an heir. If you can do that, Marcus's followers will waver. They will ponder if it truly is worth it to risk it all on a civil war. Take the Marthart Blade, and take it to any who would move to stand in the way of the very survival of this household. I have a small retinue waiting for you outside the front gates." The Archduke then handed the massive Zweihänder to Godrick, waiting proudly as the young man strapped the greatsword to his person.
Godrick nodded, standing at attention, barely keeping his face neutral.
"Allright father, I will prepare myself at once. I promise, I wont let you down. When I return, I shall return with thrice the renown, and thrice the honour, father." Archduke Richard beamed at his son, resting a hand on the young man's shoulder.
"I know you wont, son."

Notes: Is suffering from the Plague, and will die early in the RP, causing his son Godrick to step up and take his place. He is basically just a placeholder to give me an excuse to have the whole kerfuffle of Godrick becoming the new Lord of House Marthart, so I skimped on the bio a bit.

Will App for another couple characters soon.

House name: House Landrays
House's sigil: If anyone can find an image of a helmet-wearing skull, it'd be much appreciated. Otherwise, imagine that same helmet-wearing skull emblazoned upon a blood-red field.
House's words: 'We Will Not Falter.'
Allegiance owed to: House Arryn
House's seat:
Image
Image
Approximate number of retainers: House Landrays' retinue is but a shadow of its former self, lacking substantial military power. Although their seat is particularly defensible, lessening their requirement for an immense retinue, their military capabilities are significantly hampered. Roughly three-dozen or so men-at-arms can be called upon to join House Landrays when required, potentially augmented by a possible two-hundred levied peasants, some armed with longbows but most equipped with spear and shield, from Highspring's surrounding villages. Some may possess mail, the men-at-arms definitely will and some may even own plate armour, but most will be attired in padded gambesons or leather.
History of house: Highspring, House Landrays' ancestral home, was founded within the mountains of the Vale during the Age of Heroes, upon an aquifer, by the First Men. House Landrays' forebears were amongst a score of petty First Men kings when the Andals landed in the Vale and began their invasion of Westeros. The invading Andals were initially able to conquer much of the Vale, as the native First Men kings were disunited and often collaborated with the Andals against one other. House Landrays' ancestors didn't seek an alliance with the Andals, instead joining a coalition of First Men kings supporting Robar II Royce; crowning him High King of the Vale, the Fingers, and the Mountains of the Moon. After defeating Qyle Corbray, the Graftons, and the Hammer of the Hills, the threatened Andals united behind the young Ser Artys Arryn, an Andal knight born near the Giant's Lance. The ensuing Battle of the Seven Stars resulted in fourteen First Men houses being extinguished and the submission to the Andals of other houses, including House Landrays' ancestors. Those First Men who didn't accept the Andal's authority fled into the Mountains of the Moon, becoming the mountain clans, who'd prove an annoyance to House Landrays until present day. Following the Rape of the Three Sisters two-thousand years ago, House Landrays participated in the thousand-years of conflict between the Vale and the north. They accompanied King Osgood Arryn when he besieged the Wolf's Den while his son, Oswin the Talon, captured and burned the castle during the War Across the Water. For his conduct during this conflict, Ser Willem Landrays; known as the 'Old Goat', was awarded lordship of Highspring and granted his own coat of arms. Willem selected a stylised heraldic white goat, in honour of his nickname, emblazoned upon a black field.

In a later stage of the War of Conquest, Visenya Targaryen was charged with subduing the Vale. Sharra Arryn, Queen Regent of the Vale, ruling in the name of her son, the boy-king Ronnel Arryn, amassed the Vale's army at the Bloody Gate. Visenya. however, flew on her dragon, Vhagar, up to the courtyard of the Eyrie to obtain the surrender of the Vale of Arryn. When Sharra returned to the Eyrie she found her son sitting on Visenya's lap asking if he could ride the dragon with her. Sharra yielded and bent the knee and Ronnel would get to fly with Visenya and Vhagar twice. House Landrays resented their liege's capitulation, Lord Jon Landrays' presumptive heir had perished when Visenya Targaryen, on her dragon Vhagar, burned the Arryn fleet in a battle in the waters off Gulltown. In response to their liege's submission, they went into self-imposed exile; journeying to Braavos where they'd reside for almost two centuries. Although they'd initially been relatively wealth, their wealth declined during their self-imposed exile and the Landrays' situation worsened. Lord Jon Landrays' descendants eventually became sellswords, re-establishing their reputation as renowned warriors. Vardis Landrays, known as 'Death's Head' because he carried a poison-tipped spear, returned to the Vale as a sellsword employed by Lord Donnel Arryn during the First Blackfyre Rebellion. At the Battle of the Redgrass Field, Vardis saved Lord Donnel's life when Daemon I Blackfyre cut his van to pieces. In return, Lord Donnel Arryn gave House Landrays' ancestral home, Highspring, back to them; granting Vardis lordship. Wanting to forget their past and start anew, Vardis adopted a helmeted skull, in honour of his nickname, emblazoned upon a blood-red field as Landrays' sigil. Robert's Rebellion began in the Vale, when Lord Jon Arryn refused to surrender his wards Robert Baratheon and Eddard Stark to King Aerys II Targaryen. Though Jon Arryn called for all of his banners, not all of his bannermen sided with him, there were those who sided with the mad king, chief amongst them Marq Grafton. Despite some allying themselves with Aerys II, House Landrays' current lord, Vardis III Landrays, has answered his liege's call, marching alongside Jon Arryn.

Here's my house application, I'll have a character application for Vardis III Landrays up in a bit.

Once we get some more people in the RP, and more major houses like the Lannisters/Starks filled up we will be able to get going with the IC

App:
Name: Ser Godrick Marthart
House: Marthart
Age: 17
Gender: Male
Titles: Heir to House Marthart. Knight, Sentinel of House Marthart, Lord-Regent of House Marthart.
House: Marthart
House Sigil: The Sigil of House Marthart
Allegiance paid to: (Eg. Bolton's to Starks, Starks to Targaryens) Sworn service to House Targaryen.
Appearance (Picture appreciated): Sir Godrick of House Marthart
Personality:Unlike his father, Godrick is cold and calculating on the battlefield, as apposed to Richard's bravado. Godrick tends to stand back with some men in the beginning of a battle, before sending men in precise and merciless strikes against his enemies. Otherwise Godrick matches his father in that he is extremely loyal to any alliances or obligations he takes part in, however he will stop in his tracks if he feels that the course of action would cause a mortal blow to House Marthart.
Skills: (eg. Robert Baratheon would be a great warrior, Jon Arryn a great administrator, Varys a great spymaster) Godrick is an excellent swordsman having won the last local Tournament in Redfort Keep entirely unscathed. Godrick is also a masterful commander, however he is cynical towards the faith and possesses poor skills in economics.
Weaponry (If any): Godrick wields a large claymore, however he will begin using 'Heartstriker' once his father dies.
Military Strength (How many men can your lands call upon, eg. The Reach could likely muster 100,000 men.): Godrick can call upon the men of the Marthart Feudal levies.
Biography (At least a well written Paragraph please): Godrick was born 17 years ago the son of Lord Richard Marthart II in the midwifery down in Bridgetown. At the age of seven Godrick had already begun training with the Ser Argus, and made his first visit to Kings Landing with his Father when he was eight. He continued to constantly train with the Man at Arms throughout his childhood, specializing in combat with Two-Handed Swords.
When his father contracted the Plague Godrick is said to have broken every training dummy in the castle in his rage.
Now Godrick is acting as a diplomat in Kings Landing to attempt to get into the good graces of the Crown Prince, hoping to befriend the crown without risking the erratic wrath of the Mad King.
RP Example: You already got one and I dont want to have to go back and paste it into a spoiler again. Can I please skip this one?
Notes: Will inherit House Marthart very quickly once the RP Starts, as his father has the Plague, which will make his 17-year-old self very angsty and very bloodthirsty with the family toothpick once war breaks out.

Name: Vardis III Landrays
House: Landrays
Age: 35
Gender: Male
Titles: Lord of House Landrays and Lord of Highspring
House's sigil: A helmet-wearing skull emblazoned upon a blood-red field.
Allegiance owed to: House Arryn
Appearance:
Image
Personality: Vardis isn't an incredibly charismatic man, he's dutiful and pragmatic. Although Vardis isn't the most learned man, capable commander, or excellent warrior, he's usually regarded as an adequate or above-average lord; by both his subjects and subordinates. Vardis does whatever it takes to win, not that he'll actively attempt to jeopardise his followers' lives, but he's willing to sacrifice a lot if it inevitably results in victory.
Skills: Vardis, as eldest child, received what tutelage his father could afford to mould him into an, at least, decent lord. Having received training from Highspring's master-at-arms, Vardis can hold his own in a fight if required, and received an education in battle strategy. Highspring's resident maester, Maester Armen, an elderly scholar with a kindly disposition, taught Vardis basic mathematics and literacy alongside an extensive history of Westeros' noble houses. Even Highspring's septa taught Vardis needlework.
Weaponry: Vardis habitually wears a longsword on his hip and, when entering battle, straps a shield onto his left arm. Neither of them are particularly outstanding armaments, they're fairly plain, but they get the job done.
Military strength: Highspring can muster maybe four-hundred men at a stretch.
Biography: Vardis was born in Highspring thirty-five years ago to Lord Harrold and Lady Alys Landrays, née Rivers: a Riverlands bastard. As their eldest child, he was always meant to inherit lordship of Highspring and House Landrays from his father, not that he didn't want to. Vardis didn't resent that his entire life had been planned from before his birth, he never questioned why something was, just accepted that it was and dealt with it. Highspring's remote location meant that he didn't get to interact with children of a similar birth often, other nobles rarely had an occasion to visit Highspring and when they did, they usually didn't bring their children. So, in lieu of playing, Vardis diligently applied himself to his training and studies. When Vardis' mother gave birth to another child, a boy, he thought that he'd have a friend but he couldn't have been more wrong. Once Vardis' brother, Dontos, was old enough to understand his role, he rejected having to play second-fiddle to Vardis and fled. This greatly upset him, who'd thought that having a brother would alleviate some of his boredom. When Vardis' father died, he naturally assumed his place. Aged nineteen, Vardis became Vardis III, lord of House Landrays and lord of Highspring. Having to juggle attacks on merchants by mountain clansmen, his mother's grief, and an absent brother who was causing mischief elsewhere, all whilst attempting to solidify his recently acquired position, made those early years of Vardis' lordship particularly difficult. Despite these obstacles, he eventually overcame them and emerged as a recognised and somewhat influential lord. Even though he'd managed to consolidate his position, there was one thing he didn't yet have: a wife. Vardis hadn't ever known love, so when it came to selecting a candidate, he didn't account for it. Approaching Highspring's neighbours, House Belmore of Strongsong, Vardis intended to increase his influence within the Vale. Vardis was given permission by Lord Belmore to marry his youngest daughter, Alayne Belmore, a plain and complacent girl who understood duty as much as Vardis did. She accepted Vardis' proposal and they were wed shortly afterwards. There isn't anything resembling love between them, more of a mutual understanding. They've been together ever since.
RP example: This and this should suffice.

You can create your own, however before we start we will need to have at least the major Lords Paramount taken.

You can create your own, however before we start we will need to have at least the major Lords Paramount taken.

If you want I can take charge of a Paramount position, but I think a lot of us will just have to double dip on the dynasties if you want to fill up all the Paramount slots.

He could but they don't keep for very long. A week, ten days if you keep them in the fridge, which is never convenient.

Hopefully we can get a few more people in who want to play the Paramount's, if not we can just have them played as secondary characters.

Perhaps we could try harassing some RPers who lean toward this type of thing into joining?

Also a good idea, if anyone knows of anyone who would be interested feel free to extend the invitation.

I did a Medieval RP and ended up replacing the OP when they were forced to bail a while back, so I TGed a few people from there.
