World
At the end of 2016, the entire world shifted to new power struggles that ultimately dwarfed terrorism. The United Nations and NATO are no more, as a joint Russian/Syrian investigation revealed both organizations were behind many of the Middle Eastern wars. The heads of the UN and NATO, along with many members of the European Union, were tried and put to death for war crimes and crimes against humanity. No large organization has been created, but many of the new organizations include the Twin Hearts, the Southeast Asia Bond, and the Russo-American Military Deal.
Middle East
After long, exhausting, and occasionally violent, talks, the Palestinians have a state. Israel is keeping its current land, but the West Bank is now Palestine, with a secular president.
ISIS has been eradicated by Russian, Syrian, and American forces, and a fed-up Vladimir Putin said, "No more negotiations," when people continued to demand a change to Bashar al-Assad. Putin, secretly sick of constantly coming to Assad's aid, gave a stern warning when he told the rest of the world that he would bomb the crap out of anyone who threatened Assad again.
Assad remains president, but a lingering paranoia has made him a better leader, loosening his grip on the press, encouraging people to be active on the Internet, and sponsoring private business. Medical services have also improved, along with public education.
South of the Syrian border, in Jordan, King Abdullah bin al-Hussein II takes a majority of the credit for exposing the UN and NATO, as he acted as a witness at many of the trials. His argument, "Jordan was attacked by ISIS, and the only thing I was allowed to do was carry out very small airstrikes with very little bombs. The coalition had Jordan and many other nations in a stranglehold, and many of us nearly perished," became popular among anti-UN groups, who were seen in the streets of America brandishing a cartoon of ex-President Obama holding King Abdullah II in a stranglehold with a knife pointed at the Jordanian's throat. Drawn by a former Disney animator, the cartoon became a symbol of the UN trials.
Free of organizations and alliances, the Middle East celebrated with a party in Jerusalem. Assad and Abdullah became close-knit friends (after a few drinks) and formed the oddly named "Twin Hearts" alliance.
Africa
Sub-Saharan Africa suffered greatly after radical Muslims were pushed out of North Africa and the Middle East. Surviving terrorists created massive cells of Sharia Law in Congo, Angola, Namibia, Cameroon, and other countries, and many of these cells have completely blocked routes used by organizations to bring medicine to impoverished areas, increasing local death rates from disease and starvation by over thirty percent.
In North Africa, order is finally restored in Libya when a former member of Muammar Gaddafi's government is elected after terror groups were forced out.
Russia and Asia
Vladimir Putin became the world's watchdog during the United Nations trials, hosting the trials in St. Petersburg. He never let up on his tough manner after ISIS was defeated, and told the new U.S. president, Donald Trump, in private, "If you f*** up once, I will personally go to Washington and make you wish you were never president."
Ukraine's whining was shut up when the UN trials exposed Petro Poroshenko's incompetence, and he was sentenced to exile, and replaced with a nationalist, but pro-Russian, president, who allowed Russia to keep Crimea.
Across Central Asia, former Soviet blocs had let go of the past and looked to the future--through rifle scopes. Kazakhstan developed a desire to annex Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan, and the three nations have been battling it out for months.
In the Far East, Japan's government was overthrown in a violent, jingoist coup, and shortly afterward, a nationalist president was elected, and Japan's military has been built up at a rapid rate, while secret plans fly around that the Fukishima nuclear plant is being converted to a weapons factory.
China, though still Communist, has become more mellow, after American President Trump implemented tariffs on their products. A heated spat between Trump and the Chinese president led to China allowing Taiwan to be left alone.
The Koreas have finally been united, after a separate trial in Russia led to the entire government of North Korea being either sentenced to death or sentenced to life in prison. Currently, the New Korean Republic is trying to decide on a new capital.
Europe
The disbanding of the EU has led to many civil wars between Communists and nationalists across the continent.
North America
Donald Trump's presidency has made America a feared superpower once again, and, yes, my friends, he built the wall. Standing at 25 feet, the Wall of America has stopped illegal immigration completely, and the Mexican government paid for every last brick. The American economy is recovering steadily, and Trump has repaired relations with Russia.
With no drug market in America anymore, Mexico's government collapsed, and the state is currently in a violent civil war between nationalists and drug cartels.
South America
The Brazilian president was impeached, and a small civil war resulted in the rise of a tough general who rules Brazil with an iron fist.

-Godmodding is a two-strike offensive. If you refuse to edit your post the first time, you'll be kicked.
-WMDs and nukes can be constructed, discussed, and traded, but not used against another nation unless every player agrees to its use.
